    Remember that to always remove the negative side of the battery before you do any sensor replacement. Safety first. if you have a check engine light and determine you have a bad sensor or if you simply are cleaning sensors and carb, etc. in order to reset the code when the problem sensor is replaced, you need to be sure the negative side of the battery is removed for 4-5 seconds to get a reset of the electronics and hopefully eliminate your idiot light from coming back on. If you don't the sensor you replaced may be good but still show an idiot light until you reset the electronics by removing and replacing the ground from your battery.

    Just cleaned my IAC, there was none more black than mine! I also replaced the TPS, solved my problems of irregular idling and some shifting problems. $30 for the TPS, $4 for a can of throttle cleaner. Thanks for the video!!

    Thank you so much! my 2004 jeep was idling very high, I followed your instructions and now it runs at regular idle rpm's, I reset the code and they stayed cleared. I ordered a new control valve, but I may not need it. very helpful.

    For my 2000 GJC this procedure improved the idle. The air valve and its mating surface on the port were dirty. (as shown on your video) Replacing the two rubber vacuum hose that attach to the back/driver-side of the throttle body fixed it. Important to note: the engine reported NO error codes to the ECM. It just had the rough idle and the random stalling at stops. This led me to think, in my case, it was NOT a sensor or control transducer. Thanks for the effort!

    another major problem with the jeep grand cherokee overlands with the 4.7L H.O. engine which is really over looked is the MAP sensor, even when you change the TPS sensor and the IAC sensor you can still have a idle problem .... engine idles to 1500 rpm and then drops to 450 rpms, but the correct idle 550 rpm...The MAP sensor also works with other sensors on the Jeep engine, specifically the Throttle Position Sensor (on the throttle body) and Crank Position Sensor (on the transmission bell housing) to control other fuel flow and ignition timing functions

  • @44hawk28
    @44hawk28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A touch of oil on that throttle position sensor fitting would probably be a good idea. There should not be rushed on that. That indicates that the seal or gasket has been seeping air a little bit

    I totally appreciate this video I just purchased one 2001 Grand Jeep Cherokee I just replace the cylinder head and now it's shaking at idle driving me up a wall I'm going to take the throttle body off and try to clean it actually, I'm going to clean the O2 sensors as well as the map sensor I got a very good deal on this Jeep. Thank you for the information.

    Since you changed your crankshaft sensor might as well change the camshaft sensor,Sometimes its either 1 or the other, better to change both. Still, the smoke i think it means that your burning oil. Got any error codes?( 3 times switch on and off without starting engine, it should give you a code or done if you dont)

    By the way, I noticed that there was no follow up. Did this solve the idle problem? For the last 2 days, I've been having a similar issue where when I would come to an intersection, the rpms would drop and the engine would die. This doesn't always happen though so I was wondering if this simple fix would solve the same problem. Also, for a while the check engine light has been on and I'm wondering if the two aren't connected. I don't have one of the engine code checking devices so I'm trial and erroring it right now. More importantly, I was curious if this cleaning solved the problem.
    Thanks!
