If I remember correctly, there were a lot more obstacles to protect the Philosopher's Stone that they left out in the movies. I believe each teacher had their own tests or obstacles. I read the books quite a while ago, so I might not be a hundred percent correct.
In order (I think), Hagrid had Fluffy, Sprout was the Devil’s Snare, Flitwick charmed the keys, McGonagall’s chess set, Quirrell’s troll and Snape’s potion riddle, as well as Dumbledore’s final obstacle of the Mirror of Erised. So two obstacles were skipped if I remember the film correctly.

Yes and the way McGonagall cares about harry in her own way ( like in the order of the Phoenix ) and it's good the way the book portrays that. It is a beautiful scene in its own way and Luna should have gotten more screen time too. She was great ❤️.
Are these scenes that were missing or more rather details? I only counted a few scenes listed, but I think the end duel between Harry & Voldemort should’ve been closer to the book, especially Harry reveals so much.
I just wish that they didnt delete the scene in Harry Potter and the deathly hallows where Harry rolls out of Hagrids arms and then Draco throws his own wand to Harry because that would have changed how people look at Draco💕

I was hoping to see the scene where Fleur comes to see Bill after his attack. The Weasley's are there. Mrs. Weasley says that he WAS GOING TO BE married, insinuating that the wedding is off. Fleur takes acceptation to this and says that she is beautiful enough for both of them and that all these scares mean is that her husband is brave! Mrs. Weasley sees that Fleur really loves Bill and finally accepts her.
I wish the writers kept the first kiss between Harry & Ginny true to the book and cut out the mince pie/cookie scene. I always end up covering my eyes horror-movie style when that scene comes up. The kiss in the Gryffindor Common Room, on the otherhand, seems a lot more spontaneous and passionate.

It's always ticked me off that Harry and his mom didn't have the same color eyes in the movie because "Daniel couldn't wear the contacts". SO HAVE HIS MOM WEAR THEM. The eye COLOR would be wrong, but at least they'd MATCH.
I really wish that scene from the order of the Phoenix with the giant lake by the twins was in the movie. I was also soooo disappointed when they didn't include peeves. He was always one of my favourites 🤣

Emma Watson couldn't cope with the false teeth they gave her. If you look closely she is wearing them when they get on the train to go home at the end of the Philosopher's Stone, which was the first scene filmed and the only scene in which she wore them..
Emma Watson actually wore a pink dress because Jany Temime, which is the fashion designer said that she suited the colour pink and periwinkle blue doesn't suit her.
At Yule ball actually most of the dress robe weren't according to book... Parvati and Padma Patil also wear different dress and said to be most beautiful girls in forth year....Movies also messed up with their houses...(in books Parvati is in Gryffindor and Padma is in Revenclaw...)
Well the real reason for Hermione's dress to be pink was that the costume directors thought, Periwinkle blue did not look that great as compared to pink on Emma Watson.
Having two of the UKs most beloved comedians in the films as ghosts, John Cleese as Nearly Headless Nick and Rik Mayall as Peeves the Poltergeist was perfect, such a shame that Rik was cut from the films, anyone whose seen Drop Dead Fred knows he would of been amazing! I love the films but there is alot i don't like about them too, having so much changed and cut out for the sake of run time, it could of been a TV show instead.
I wanted to see Gryffindor gets the Quidditch cup after 7 years. Harry getting the Firebolt, defeating Slytherin in the final is pretty much the half of that story line. They could introduce Cedric and the romance between Harry and Cho in much solid way...
whoa whoa WHOA! Winky never put up any dark mark. She was trying to hold Crouch Jr away from the mayhem but he had stolen Harry's wand during the world cup match and used it to put up the mark.
Its so sad how they missed out all those things in the movies! I am the only one in my family who has read all the books (definitley more than once) and its really sad how little they know about the back story.
What interests me that in the books the fake memory says “horcruxes” whilst the fake memory in the movie distorts the word. Aka they only find out that he was speaking about horcruxes after getting the true memory.
The reason for Hermione's dress being blue in the books and pink in the movies is not unknown. When I went to the studios I got talking to some of the staff there about the costume design of the series. They told me how that during the making of the Goblet of Fire they tried out the colour blue on Emma Watson for the Yule Ball but it was decided it didn't suit her, so they went with pink instead, and it clearly suited the actress very well :)
I assume the reason for the dress color change was because they were using blue for the back ground at times when they need blue or green screen, meaning had they put Emma Waston in a blue dress she would have been nothing but a head.
There's no way anyone can list up everything that they missed/purposedly left out from the book. There're just SO MANY OF THEM! Every book has at least 50different scenes etc
I liked the scene, when Ginny told them all on the Hogwarts Express, how she had seen Percy kissing a girl in a classroom and she tried to tell them earlier, while they thought, she would tell them something about the chamber of secrets😂😂
I would love to get all the deleted scenes in the films and all the details they left out, because then if you would talk to someone who only has watched the movies, you could just talk about everything even though they haven’t read the books 📕 😊😊😊
The S.P.E.W. subplot was a bit of a plothole in the books though. Hermione was leaving clothing around for them in order to 'free' them, but they would have had to have been given the clothing by their owner for the freedom to take place. That's why Harry put the sock in the book before handing it to Lucius Malfoy; that way it was Lucius who gave Dobby the sock, and not Harry.
This video doesn't begin to touch on the differences. I said it from the first movie...as "stand alone" movies, they were exceptional. As screen versions of the books, however, they weren't really that good. I loved both the movies and the books, for different reasons. I refused to compare the written word to the incredible visuals we were treated to in the movies. Each "set" had it's own merit. The books gave us sub-stories that would have been impossible to bring to the screen, unless each movie ran for days on end! Instead of focusing on differences, I choose to focus on the fact that masterpieces were created by both the movies and the books.
Neville's parents? It wasn't Voldemort who used the cruciatus curse. It was his followers. Bellatrix, her husband and Barty Crouch, Jr. Junior's dad was the one who condemned them all to Azkaban.

Ginny was so much better in the book. Was upset they did not go over Rita beetle form. Peeves was even filmed in the first film. I thought the fire place was boarded up from the first book still. They left so much out of the sixth movie and 5th. They forgot all about Charlie I would have loved to met him and Bill at the quidditch world cup. I think it was a big deal to forget. I wish they showed the fight harry had with Hermione in the third book
I want to say that in Half blood prince Nymphadora was the one that Found Harry in the Train, not Luna. If I Am wrong please leave a comment telling me.
Also when Draco Malfoy punched Harry on the nose in half-blood prince it was Tonks who came and saved him and she looked depressed because of the whole Remus thing
Even so I still don't see that as an excuse to leave out one of the most important characters of the books. I would have loved to see that one scene where he chases Umbridge out of the castle in the movie lol
How about the fact that Ron did not go into the forbidden forest in the 1st book it was actually Neville in the books where in the movie it was ron and they split up 2 times not once
Still found it unrealistic how Harry and Ginny AND Ron and Hermione got together in the 6th one. Hermione liked Ron, but that doesn't mean they should end up together...

You really missed a glaring problem that the movies caused, the movies gave all of Ron's best lines (especially concerning insights into the wizarding world) to Hermione. Hermione magically knows tons of wizarding culture that isn't really written in any books even though she like harry was raised by muggles. This really did a disservice to Rupert Grint, and Ron as a character. The movies make him seem useless, and petty.
IKR? I mean seriously, Ron was the one who explained the meaning of Mudblood , not Hermione. Hermione was shown so clever and no doubt she was, but Ron was shown too dumb

The movies ruined Ron, and Ginny. You can tell that Hermione was David Yates favorite character. He made her much more important than Ron even though Ron was actually really helpful in the books. They totally cut Ginny from the movies. I think I read that Luna actually has more lines throughout the movie series than Ginny.
True that!Hermione was supposed to be book smart yet in the movie she borders on mary sue that I rather prefer the books. Most of the characters seems,,,lacking let alone harry makes it seems in the movie more,,,stupid. Hermione had grown in the muggle and is just a muggleborn which means she shouldn't have too many knowledge or ability,hell! Some of her knowledge seems far too wise and that is impossible since she is just a student at the beginning. And being wise needs EXPERIENCE but again it makes me just cringe so yeahhh I rather the books. Maybe it’s pink because ron basically said he forgot Hermione was a girl and the pink showed that she was growing into a young woman. Plus blue was kinda already taken by Beauxbatons
I feel like the movies leave out many small but powerfully magical scenes. This video mentions fixing the Phoenix wand with the elder wand, and I agree that is such a small thing that would have made the movie so much better! Another that comes to my mind is Hermione making the flask to hold Snape's memories out of magic. Why not include that? so often the movies could have shown off her talents, but failed to do so...

Harry falling out with Lupin, when he suggests having a werewolf could be handy but Harry is ashamed that this is the man who taught him not to fear dementors, would abandon his son.I really wanted to see that, and the whole Tonks/Lupin storyline was pretty big as it paralled Harry becoming godfather like Sirius. Also Percy and Fred scene definitely should have been in movie.

Yes!😂😂 Ron gets that back too though. During the battle when the trio decides to face voldemort in the shrieking shack. They arrive at the womping willow and ron remarks they dont have crookshanks to press the knot and stop the tree from smashing them. There hermoine returns the line "are you a wizard?". It was wonderfully written. Almost the Beginning and end of the dangerous adventures of the trio together.
The mirror given to Harry from Sirus. Deathly hallows shows a mirror shard but why does Harry have it? Then they see a mirror with Abeforth with no explanations at all. I have never seen this brought up in any of the lists of differences.
He has the mirror shard bc his broke after her threw it after sirius died... he kept it in the moleskin pouch hagrid have him and threw the rest away. Mundungus Fletcher took Sirius' and Aberforth got it from him.
Briana Cross from the book all that is stated. In the movie he shows the mirror shard with no context. Also, there was no other mention of 12 Grimauld place after the 5th movie, no knowing that Harry inherited it. They just threw the mirror shard in the 7th movie like yeah, we are not gonna explain this but yeah someone is peaking in on the trio with the dumbledore eye. just bugged me.
We know why all these things missed out in the movies. J K Rowling sold out she didn't care after the 2nd movie and by mid 3rd she sold out completely I bet you in the future that all these films will be remade and made more accurate to the books. As done that so many movies like Willy Wonka. I think that harry potter will be made more accurately in the future Maybe when technology is more advanced so be more possible to fit all these missing parts. Also I think they should started making 2 part film for 4th movie as that way they fit everything in.
Voldemort's eye colour was changed on purpose because the crew thought that if you don't leave a bit of human in him, he wont scare you and also that if the eyes are red, you focus on the colour, not the pain behind it.

Smeltpeer apparently, Mike Newell, I think that’s the Director’s name, _had not read a single Harry Potter book when he took the task to Direct the Goblet of Fire_ , so I think that has _a lot_ to do with it, and it’s said that he didn’t want Voldy to have the snake like nose, until all of the producers and stuff convinced him, so clearly, Mike was not the best choice for this movie-

I wish the Dudley scene was there. It was huge for me because it showed some kind of family between harry and Dudley, and it really showed how much Dudley cared, more than him giving harry tea could.
Ya know the movies are far from perfect but they’re my favorite book to movie adaption, and tbh the movie that in my opinion followed to book the best (chamber of secrets) ended up being reaaaally long, and ya gotta think about what works best in a movie in the first place, the books have a lot of detailed stuff going on with every character which I love but it’s a lot of arcs to follow for a movie

Having two of the UKs most beloved comedians in the films as ghosts, John Cleese as Nearly Headless Nick and Rik Mayall as Peeves the Poltergeist was perfect, such a shame that Rik was cut from the films, anyone whose seen Drop Dead Fred knows he would of been amazing!
I love the films but there is alot i don't like about them too, having so much changed and cut out for the sake of run time, it could of been a TV show instead.

Its so sad how they missed out all those things in the movies! I am the only one in my family who has read all the books (definitley more than once) and its really sad how little they know about the back story.
What interests me that in the books the fake memory says “horcruxes” whilst the fake memory in the movie distorts the word. Aka they only find out that he was speaking about horcruxes after getting the true memory.
The reason for Hermione's dress being blue in the books and pink in the movies is not unknown. When I went to the studios I got talking to some of the staff there about the costume design of the series. They told me how that during the making of the Goblet of Fire they tried out the colour blue on Emma Watson for the Yule Ball but it was decided it didn't suit her, so they went with pink instead, and it clearly suited the actress very well :)
I assume the reason for the dress color change was because they were using blue for the back ground at times when they need blue or green screen, meaning had they put Emma Waston in a blue dress she would have been nothing but a head.
There's no way anyone can list up everything that they missed/purposedly left out from the book. There're just SO MANY OF THEM! Every book has at least 50different scenes etc

The S.P.E.W. subplot was a bit of a plothole in the books though. Hermione was leaving clothing around for them in order to 'free' them, but they would have had to have been given the clothing by their owner for the freedom to take place. That's why Harry put the sock in the book before handing it to Lucius Malfoy; that way it was Lucius who gave Dobby the sock, and not Harry.
This video doesn't begin to touch on the differences. I said it from the first movie...as "stand alone" movies, they were exceptional. As screen versions of the books, however, they weren't really that good. I loved both the movies and the books, for different reasons. I refused to compare the written word to the incredible visuals we were treated to in the movies. Each "set" had it's own merit. The books gave us sub-stories that would have been impossible to bring to the screen, unless each movie ran for days on end! Instead of focusing on differences, I choose to focus on the fact that masterpieces were created by both the movies and the books.
And also in the dealtly Hallows I think they left out Ron saying don't say his name when harry tries to say Voldemort

It wasn't Voldemort who hurt Nevills parents. it was his follower Bellatrix, her husband and his brother lestranges and barty crouch jr. They were trying to find out information on Voldemort. Ginny was so much better in the book. Was upset they did not go over Rita beetle form. Peeves was even filmed in the first film. I thought the fire place was boarded up from the first book still. They left so much out of the sixth movie and 5th. They forgot all about Charlie I would have loved to met him and Bill at the quidditch world cup. I think it was a big deal to forget. I wish they showed the fight harry had with Hermione in the third book

You really missed a glaring problem that the movies caused, the movies gave all of Ron's best lines (especially concerning insights into the wizarding world) to Hermione. Hermione magically knows tons of wizarding culture that isn't really written in any books even though she like harry was raised by muggles. This really did a disservice to Rupert Grint, and Ron as a character. The movies make him seem useless, and petty.

The movies ruined Ron, and Ginny. You can tell that Hermione was David Yates favorite character. He made her much more important than Ron even though Ron was actually really helpful in the books. They totally cut Ginny from the movies. I think I read that Luna actually has more lines throughout the movie series than Ginny.
True that!Hermione was supposed to be book smart yet in the movie she borders on mary sue that I rather prefer the books. Most of the characters seems,,,lacking let alone harry makes it seems in the movie more,,,stupid. Hermione had grown in the muggle and is just a muggleborn which means she shouldn't have too many knowledge or ability,hell! Some of her knowledge seems far too wise and that is impossible since she is just a student at the beginning. Unless of course she read EVERY book in the library so its IMPOSSIBLE unless she crammed every knowledge the moment she entered hogwarts library. And being wise needs EXPERIENCE but again it makes me just cringe so yeahhh I rather the books. I feel like the movies leave out many small but powerfully magical scenes. This video mentions fixing the Phoenix wand with the elder wand, and I agree that is such a small thing that would have made the movie so much better! Another that comes to my mind is Hermione making the flask to hold Snape's memories out of magic. Why not include that? so often the movies could have shown off her talents, but failed to do so...
Hermione is not the one the movies did dirty. Ron is the one who got sidelined by the movies. Largely by giving all his lines and actions to her.
Yeah and in the sorcerer's stone Hermione went with Harrry and did not stay back with Ron cuz it was needed but they cut it too. Thise scene shows us how intelligent Hermione was. She was not only book worm but really was a intelligent

The mirror given to Harry from Sirus. Deathly hallows shows a mirror shard but why does Harry have it? Then they see a mirror with Abeforth with no explanations at all. I have never seen this brought up in any of the lists of differences.
Abeforth explains he got it from Mondungess Fletcher.
He has the mirror shard bc his broke after her threw it after sirius died... he kept it in the moleskin pouch hagrid have him and threw the rest away. Mundungus Fletcher took Sirius' and Aberforth got it from him.
Briana Cross from the book all that is stated. In the movie he shows the mirror shard with no context. Also, there was no other mention of 12 Grimauld place after the 5th movie, no knowing that Harry inherited it. They just threw the mirror shard in the 7th movie like yeah, we are not gonna explain this but yeah someone is peaking in on the trio with the dumbledore eye. just bugged me.
We know why all these things missed out in the movies.
J K Rowling sold out she didn't care after the 2nd movie and by mid 3rd she sold out completely

Voldemort's eye colour was changed on purpose because the crew thought that if you don't leave a bit of human in him, he wont scare you and also that if the eyes are red, you focus on the colour, not the pain behind it.

Smeltpeer apparently, Mike Newell, I think that’s the Director’s name, _had not read a single Harry Potter book when he took the task to Direct the Goblet of Fire_ , so I think that has _a lot_ to do with it, and it’s said that he didn’t want Voldy to have the snake like nose, until all of the producers and stuff convinced him, so clearly, Mike was not the best choice for this movie-

Ya know the movies are far from perfect but they’re my favorite book to movie adaption, and tbh the movie that in my opinion followed to book the best (chamber of secrets) ended up being reaaaally long, and ya gotta think about what works best in a movie in the first place, the books have a lot of detailed stuff going on with every character which I love but it’s a lot of arcs to follow for a movie
