      Goes to show the utter insanity of pagan cultures. Tries to become immortal which intuition would tell you isn't possible based on the fact that you're becoming crusty and decrepit with age, not to mention the magic potion explodes in your gut. There's only 1 way and 1 path to eternal life, and it isn't an eternal fleshly life either. It's better.

    Rocket-Jumping WAS NOT PUT IN QUAKE ON PURPOSE by id.
    It was a quirk in Quake's rudimentary physics system, which was discovered by players and deemed to be useful :)
    Therefore id Software included it in later games as an official feature because of its lasting popularity.

      Grenade and rocket jumping were included as deliberate features in Bungie's Apple Macintosh FPS Marathon in 1994, 2 years before Quake. They were required techniques for accessing some areas of certain single-player maps, and people soon started using them in multiplayer too. Although it never had anything like the cultural impact of Quake, Marathon was one of the first games to build on the success of Doom, and added a number of features that became staples of the FPS genre, so I'd be very surprised if nobody at id ever played it. I've read somewhere that there was even a secret area in Doom that you could reach by shooting a wall point-blank so that the explosion threw you across a gap. I'd be pretty sure they would have foreseen that people would be able to have fun with it when they were writing the physics engine for Quake.

    • @Roxor128
      @Roxor128 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chrisball3778 Rise Of The Triad (1994) has a form of proto-rocket-jumping. If you're wearing asbestos armour and look down and fire the Firebomb or Excalibat, you can throw yourself backwards and into the air (other weapons will have a much smaller effect that isn't useful). I don't think it qualifies outright as the game lacks a jump button.

    4:30 "Improving its design" is a bit of a stretch, special protective equipment needed to be warned to utilize the Panzershrek and it saw far less use than the Bazooka as it was generally inferior, other than its potentially greater power but it was so much more difficult to use that its effect on the battlefield was lesser as a result.

    Fun fact: The M202 flash quad barreled rocket launcher is considered to be a flamethrower under US army designations. This is because it is designed to fire anti-infantry incendiary rockets instead of a high explosive anti-armor round. Like a flamethrower, they were incendiary weapons designed explicitly to be used against entrenched enemy soldiers.

      It's pretty easy after ww2 and more so in the Vietnam war they realised that normal foot solders disliked battle rifles like the m14 becouse to big and small Magazin so they intruced the m16 which was still to heavy and big so the m4 was born
      Problem was the effective firing range went down considerably so wen they charge behind a corner and the enemy is 500-700 meters out they are stuck
      So they reintroduced the battle rifle with a scope and now only 1 per squad end of story

    Yeah and there is eighties tune about having Rocket Launcher .Which should been put into this game ,Since it a cool song from the eighties.,But a Rocket Lanuncher is great in video ,Most especially in GTA 5 were it need against MerryWaether .And helps whole in the game ,Even when came find early in the game ,Cause thiere is a spot where you can get ,Before you actually can buy it In the game .That sort of a tip for anybody stilling GTA 5 as single player game ,Like back to early start of the game ,And with all three characters in the game , I sure you find at the same place online GTA 5 ,But you find Attack chopper outside of Los Santos ,And before a road stop gas station with a gun shop close by .

    "fire arrows" let me stop you real quick...
    I know you're not an expert but there are so many reasons that the chinesse fire arrows are a myth. The fuse is a big part of it. They didn't have wind-proof fuses, so no arrow could have a fuse, or be on fire, because the speed would just put them out. Even if you had a smouldering coal lodged into the middle of the arrow all it would do is.. be hot.. not catch anything that it didn't already catch pre-shooting the arrow. All the stuff you have about chinese "rockets" is mostly exaggerated myth with 0 historical evidence.

      edit: all of the asia stuff...
      "densely packed samurai formations" I mean... I guess you could call it that? Samurai were less densely packed than other asian peasant army forces at the time, so I wouldn't call them that.

    Fun fact the weapon in the thumbnail Is my main MOS weapon as an 0351 infantry Assaultman. Its call the MK153 SMAW, also this pic is kinda incorrect as the rocket on a SMAW doesnt stick out of the launcher. The entire rocket is encased inside the end tube peice which gets attached on to fire.
