My favorite thing about this demo was watching everyone start very confused and unsure and over the course of the game you see them lossen up more as they get more comfortable with the game and are having a blast.
Glad I went all in on this, I'm seeing changes from RE2 that I like already. Only downside is the figures are still what I call low definition. The tiles, however, look a hell of a lot better then the original RE2 ones, which were virtually all black, these look great!!
Like Sharkey said, not officially, but a lot of the mechanics are the same, so it's not a stretch to integrate them if you want. For example, my friends and I will sometimes mix hero characters in with the different games to give them a more 'what if?' type feel.
I was watching one of these R.E. board game videos the other day, and it got me thinking. This is still a rough idea, so I’m still working things out. Anyway, save progress cards and tokens. Each player gets a save progress card and a limited number of tokens per player depending on how many people are playing, say, 5 tokens each for a 4 player game. They don’t have to use all the tokens there. A player throws down their save card on their turn before rolling the dice, then they put a save token where their character was before they moved to mark that spot. If that player hasn’t saved progress for a while, or they might be coming up to something big they would save and mark that spot with a token. That token is removed if that player dies and goes back to that spot, or the next time that player saves progress, and is put in a pile of spent tokens. If a player that saved progress dies, either they go back to the spot they were when they spent the token, or all players go back to where they were at that point. I’m still figuring that part out. They might end up going back a long way. If a player dies before spending a token, it’s game over. If no tokens are spent before a player dies, it’s game over. So only a player that has saved progress can keep the game going after they die. Players will need to keep track of how many tokens they have, and how many they have spent. It should encourage smarter, more strategic play. It might help if players write things down as they go. Like I said, it’s just a rough idea, so it may not even work. Their might be already be some kind of save progress system, I haven’t played any of these games yet so I don’t know. Does this make any sense, or am I just talking nonsense?
Thanks, I was starting to think that nobody had interest in my idea. I’m still working through the kinks, but, I think I have an idea that, once it’s worked out, might be a good addition to a game that already seems great.🙂
@@declin_matthews1987 The idea is interesting for sure and there are some peeps who are making some house rules to this game and other variants in one way or another the possibilities are endless, for sure write here and introduce your ideas in the board game geek forum too etc! More to my idea, 2 tension deck cards, 1 to give a save progress token, 1 to take a token away. Depending on how a player handles their save tokens throughout the game, these cards could either screw them over, resulting in a game over if they die later, or save their ass.
Every time a player pushes a switch for the puzzle, the player looks through all of the cards until they find the correct color. Doesnt this give them the info about which the two missing switches to push without finding the document that describes the correct sequence? How about shuffling every non-flipped card(s) together with the discarded one after every time someone pushes a switch for the puzzle? If they didnt shuffle because they already found the document that describes the correct solution, then I guess I didnt notice them finding that one. :P
I hope we will get more tiles this time so we can correctly create the map. As a huge fan of the original RE's it really bugs me to have to use a random tile that is not right or the art tile I want to use is on the other side from a tile I'm already using. That being said, I love what I so until now. Maybe even want to try making my own combination storing box to fit everything for all 3 board games 😀
that would mean having to search for very specific tiles for every scenario. not to mention the insane amount of tiles that would be. set up time is long enough. Looking for a dozen specific tiles would increase set up time 2x or 3x
Agree with this. It was one of the selling points for the re2 game that you could use the tile with correct art work to depict the actual locations in the game.
44:26 But why didn't they fulfill the card and have Cerberus react? and because it's in range it could've attacked Barry that same turn- so what happened???
I believe the reaction phase was already finished, and they were on the tension deck phase. Therefore, the cerberus spawned but could not react as it was the end of the turn and reaction phase had been passed
I'm curious if you can mix and match characters from the other two games. I imagine the monsters would likely be a no, unless all the games used the same card backs.
@@elizabethlestrad5282 have 2 and 3 and they all use the same mechanics. If you really want to, you can mix the game up however you want and it'll work, just not officially or canonically. Can you help me understand "reserve" I don't get who you start with, and when you draw other survivors to be apart of Reserve (I'm playing 2 players) I don't know the ruling. I don't care if it's Directors Cut rules or Core but I see you have rebecca (I assume because you didn't play her?)
From what I understand, a new campaign contains only Brad in the reserve. The reserve is where you keep characters that can be sent on missions. Missions are cards you draw that have specific objectives to complete. The other characters, including main characters that you aren't going to play as in your campaign, become the survivor deck. Certain cards and missions will prompt you to draw a card from the survivor deck and add it to the reserve. Characters drawn from the survivor deck are added to reserve as new characters to send out on future missions. Side characters like Wesker, Enrico, and Richard can be sent on missions once they're added to the reserve. Main characters like Chris, Jill, Barry, and Rebecca can also be sent on missions from the reserve. What makes the main and side characters different you ask? Between scenarios, you can switch the character you are playing as with any main character in your reserve!
Quick rules clarification. At 39:10 he shoots the dog, but if the rules are the same as in the RE3 board game, since Chris is on the left side of the tile (side opposite of the door), he would not be able to shoot the dog. Dog is not in the line of sight for Chris in this case, as the door is acting like the corner. Or am I understanding this wrong?
So what’s the ETA for the retail version of this? Been more than a year since the Kickstarter and I’d like to give this a try since the gate of entry for the RE2 and RE3 board games is kind of steep with all of the expansions they have
the retail versions are a long time aways normally, been waiting a very long while for monster hunter world myself! What happens if you shot an enemy in a other charakters square and the shot is unsuccesfull? Would the enemy bite the other charakter or just stay there and nothing happens.
