  • Hello and thank you for watching our latest video. This video was intended to be a basic rear brake pad change on my sons VW Scirocco 1.4 TSI. Of course not we ended up with Caliper problems.
Take care, Jeff & Jenny xx

Hi Adam and thank you. I'm back at work now still suffering. When I finished it my son asked if I could drop it about 20 miles away and put £20 of petrol in it. The answer was no.
At the moment I am feeling a bit fed up. All I seem to do is sort other people's problems out, but no time for myself. The rest of the time is work.
      Take care, Jeff

@@adam-qf2vz You're absolutely right Adam. The only problem is if I F it up, I'll end up paying for it anyway. That little word, No is a difficult one to say.

Hi Jeff, That's a job and a half no fun doing brakes and changing pads some time the disc's about 8 years ago I had to change the caliper on my old Nissan Primera Estate ( 51 reg ), I was quite surprised it was not to bad pulled out one pin and undo one nut it just lifted up and slid out that was the only big job I done on that car is was so reliable. I got the caliper from ZF brakes the same manufacture that makes ZF gear boxes and made in Wrexham ordered them direct from the factory. As always a great video catch you next week on your lawn mower, Take care

Hi Shaun and thanks for watching. In all the years that I have done brake pads , I don't think I have ever had to change a brake caliper. Had my son brought the car over in the morning as planned rather than the evening I would have gone out and bought the parts the same day. I finished at 22.00 and had to drop them back to my son's girlfriends mum, a 50 mile round trip.
I got back shattered at midnight.
      Take care, Jeff

@@shaun30-3-mg9zs Yes Shaun I will have to take things more easy. My life is taken over with work and other people's problems. I just can't seem to get anything done for myself.

    Claw hammers are for carpenters.

    • @DiecastPowderCoating

Lol, yes they are, but nearly a sledge hammer for a brake caliper.
      Take care, Jeff

Shouldn't have to put the first caliper on with a carpenter's hammer 🙄
The piston probably needs to be wound in more....
Some people take the piss and expect us to just fix anything, I'm quite picky when it comes to doing jobs for people, I'll only do it if they deserve it and if i can rope them in to "help" then they'll see the struggle for themselves and maybe appreciate what's involved 🙃🇮🇪😬

Hi Terry, he was lucky it wasn't a sledge hammer. He dropped it over on the Monday in the late afternoon then went to bed until I gave up at 10pm. I took the Thursday off once the new parts had come. He kept ringing up all day asking if it was ready. Then in the afternoon my son asked if I wouldn't mind dropping it 20 miles away because he was at a restaurant with his girlfriend. Oh and dad can you stick £20 of petrol in it. I did eventually have to pay £20, but there was no way I was going to drop the car in the rush hour.
      Take care, Jeff

@DiecastPowderCoating new rule with him will be, no work done on the car unless he stays to help 😊

@terryatkinson3182 I tried to get him to change a set of spark plugs before. First of all he didn't know where they were then just tried a bit, then disappeared.
He had a flat tyre on Christmas day a couple of years ago. I said you will have to help me change over to the spare. He got the spare out and said oh dear, it's raining and who had to do the rest.
