- Sam Tutty won the Olivier Award for lead actor in a musical when he opened the London production of "Dear Evan Hansen" in 2019, and was still Evan when the London production closed in 2022. This clip is from 2019 and Lucy Anderson is Zoe.

Was talking to someone the other day about brilliant shows to see and Sam Tutty in DEH came to mind. Saw him as Evan in DEH just before the covid 19 lock down in 2019 and have to say, we honestly didn't know if the acting was that spot on or if Sam did have a nervous tick. Utterly incredible! Can't wait for his next/current venture on the stage!
He's currently doing two strangers carry a cake across new york in west end! Highly recommend it!!

So cool to hear the original West End cast from the pre-COVID days, most of the released videos of this production especially the 4K ones are from 2021 or 2022, I think there was only one released video from 2019, also amazing to see this video with barely any spotlight washout, keep it up Aurora!! ❤
Sam Tutty is probably better than Ben Platt, in my humble opinion. IMHO

and mine.. He actually gets you to sympathise and understand . plays him as nervous and anxious and good hearted who gets swept up rather than a psychopath

Ah, I saw his last performance before the big Covid shut down. There was definitely an air of this is the last hoorah for a bit in the audience and also on the streets of the West End.
I went for a walk in the West End a little while after this and seeing all the theatres dark really broke my heart.
