@sewer~rat Thats not what they are implying. “I got rice” is the best vocal tic I’ve ever heard. Seriously though, I’m so sorry people think you’re faking it. People that do fake it, or any other mental / neurological disorder, are ruining it for the rest of us.
Look at the fact she doesn't dwell on her tics and just moves on with what she is saying. She doesn't take time to laugh at them or point them out, she focuses on what she's talking about.
I mean, even though i don't exactly have tourettes, i did have a lot of tics for a long time and still have attacks, i do laugh at then but continue off w my day, i guess it depends but its okay to laugh at them sometimes
Majority of people who Tourette’s or tics online aren’t faking it. The only reason people think they are is because the creators that DO fake is are given more attention, which makes people only see the bad people instead of the many other people simply just trying to spread awareness or just have fun. This happens so much with just any community online and it’s so upsetting to see amazing people like this get harassed because of the misconceptions made about her and her disorder
Same. It's super annoying. People also being a little different and saying to me that they might have autism when they clearly don't is just as annoying. Having one very developped interest is not the same as having a mental disorder. *eyeroll
@@mcvenne8935 As an autistic person I somewhat disagree with your comment, but I think agree with your intentions. Yes, people shouldn't say they might be autistic just because they have some traits considered to be signs of autism, but on the other hand people who genuinely feel like they fit in better with autistic people or highly suspect they're autistic/struggle with things autistic people commonly struggle with shouldn't be invalidated or dismissed as faking it for attention, I know autistic people who don't have a diagnosis but I'd be very surprised if it turned out they were neurotypical. Also, autism isn't a disorder it's a neurodiversity, it's a disability because autistic people are a minority in a world made for neurotypical people, if you switched it round and neurotypical people were the minority they'd be the ones struggling.
@ragdollkitto 1. I am talking about people who obviously are not autistic. Literally half my relatives, a bunch of my friends and even more acquaintances have said it. They are obviously not autistic. 2. ASD. Autism Spectrum Disorder. It's literally in the name.

Yuuup classic sign of being legit is if they're doing tics that cause damage. Not even just hitting but also twitching the same neck/hand/facial muscles over and over. It's rather boring for a tic and hurts quite a bit so the fakers normally don't so those.
Note: The fact that she continues speaking just fine shows she isn't faking, especially after a tic that uses her voice. Edit: Holy cow, Mom. I'm famous.
Well spotted! My tic is that I go "beep!" at random intervals. So I'll be having a conversation with someone who doesn't know I have tourettes, go "beep!" halfway through my sentence and just carry on talking while the other person just sits there wondering wtf just happened.
I do believe you. one way to spot fakers is to see if they change their tics all the time. tics do change of course but you don't have new tics all the time. the tics aren't convenient or fun like some fakers. tics are exhausting, imagine carly is going through this 24/7. not just when the camera is on. imagine doing your make up, just try to relax or go to the movies. idiots that fake this debilitating syndrome should be called out but always give people the benefit of the doubt. the people that know the faker in real life and know they're faking it for sure, should do the calling out, not someone on the other side of the screen
I lost my friend with tourettes to suicide a few years ago, its so heartbreaking to see that people dont take it seriously. He was bullied for it in school, trust me no one would want to fake it guys
A good hint for finding Tourette’s fakers is that they often overreact to tics even though it’s a daily thing for you all- glad to know there’s someone out there not trying to just get attention for themselves but raise awareness of the real problems you face :) Obligatory oh my god this blew up!
No literally. Like they have their 'tic' and then stop everything they are doing and like laugh and snort and then repeat it every time. Like having actual Tourettes gets annoying, I don't have it, but just seeing people actually have it I can tell that sometimes it's not fun... most times really.
Non Tourettes tics here Can confirm we react but its usually "ow fuck! That hurt" because tics can hurt especially my main wrist popping tic, my wrist is always sore or occasional giggling at dumb tics once or twice because someone else giggled at it or I get people saying my squeaking tic is cute lol I squeak a lot when stressed, and I squeak and do other tics in my sleep but it isn't Tourettes apperantly acording to my doctors years ago but I have multiple other disorders that can cause tics so it makes sense
I don't usually want to be too harsh on people who have faked tourettes. Personally faked tics a few years ago because that was the "only thing" that people would have sympathy for. (Later on it was one of the reasons i got into a really bad depression) Either way that's not fine. I have a few friends that I've known for, like 7 years and they have started to have "tics" at 16, and (I don't want to assume) it is really not that realistic how they react to those, and I have a really strong fealing that they are faking them
Another thing with Tourette’s is that it isn’t always constant for everyone. Like you can tic no times one day then be a one man band the next. The fact that randomers think their thought matters on if the condition is real or not is so close minded.
I hate that people fake tics. My adhd unfortunately can cause me tics but i feel i have to suppress them when they happen so people dont think im faking stuff for attention

General PSA: Let nerodivergent & disabled folks policy their own communities. Believe me people with the diagnosis are better at spotting it than you anyway.
Bro, trust me when I say that it’s not easy to do that. I was basically dogpiled for something I said about someone randomly mentioning their disability/disorder in response to a possible SO’s text. The SO was asking for advice on the other person and how to respond or whatever. I said it could be a red flag, because people who have an actual disability/disorder don’t usually randomly bring it up unless it was prompted. People who use it as an excuse tend to be faking or just shirking blame, in my experience. People were pissed that I used the word “disorder”, telling me that “being neurodivergent implies that it’s not a disorder” . . . Even though “neurodivergent” was the word that replaced “mental disorder” in many people’s lexicons. They are literally synonymous. (Excuse the following tangent) I hate the word neurodivergent and prefer the word disorder because to me, it’s more accurate. I took a class on neurology. There’s no such thing as a typical brain. Everyone is neurodivergent because despite there being areas of the brain that are ‘supposed’ to be dedicated to a certain function/series of functions, the neurological functions of brains do not necessarily follow that same structure every single time. The inner workings (which is what neurology refers to, specifically) vary greatly between individuals. What I, and many others have, are disabilities because our brains are *NOT ABLE* to process information correctly. There is something missing or added in that changes the way that we think, function, or view the world around us. Why is it that instead of being able to reclaim the word “disability” and turn it into something positive and less offensive, we have to use a word that not all people with disabilities agreed upon using? Why is it that when I use the term I prefer, it’s inherently seen as a bad thing? I just don’t understand why we have to change the language we use to refer to something we already have language to describe, especially when the new language is less accurate or factual than what was originally being used. Especially especially when that language has been, in recent times, used to create an “us vs them” mentality between “neurodivergents” and “neurotypicals”!
@@MollyMargolisBillCipherIsBaeIts absolutely an "us vs them" partly because people have decided to treat disorders/divergence like a really cool, exclusive and special club that the "normies" aren't cool enough to be part of...so kids are faking to get in. There was a girl at my college with tourettes. Never spoke to her cause I didn't actually know who she was or what she even looked like but you could hear her from hallway across campus because, unfortunately, her tic was screaming like she just got stabbed at the top of her lungs for a split second. She had that tic trigger about every ten to fifteen minutes. No one bothered her about it and it was almost like a weird comfort to hear her because it meant she was still going to classes despite ber loud screams. It kinda gave me hope in an odd way. I think about her a lot and I hope she's doing well wherever she is.
I had a customer that we believe had tourettes, because she'd randomally sing. God damn her voice was amazing! We all loved her to bits, we'd even clap and tell her how lovely her voice was, we think her trigger was stressing about having it. But we just showed her so much love, that she enjoyed coming in the shop. Why people would fake that I will never understand, why would you fake a illness?! Sorry you get that sweetie
Im trying to get an evaluation for DID and you have no idea how scared i am every day. I knew someone who was 22 who convinced a 15 yo they had did too and made their alters date because they were 'ageless' and had that poor child wrapped around their finger trying to run away to go meet them and live with them. I hope the minor is doing ok now, since once I called them out my account was deleted for harassment on the media i could warn them with. And then theres the fakers who have 100+ alters of quackity or some other dsmp character variations and say we cant accuse ANYONE of sysfaking. Like uh, yes, we can? I was (mis)diagnosed with Tourette’s when I was around 10 years old. People said I was faking, because I could control it, to some extent. Turns out, I’m mildly on the autistic spectrum, and it was me stimming.
Oh, that's not bad. My brother used to have one that was hard to deal with. If any said words like "rig, dig, pig, wig, big" etc, my brother would just say "nig, nig, FULLL ON N-word". He would try so hard to hold it in, but he couldn't. He HAD to say it. That lasted from about the time he was 9 until about 13. It was hard in public as you might imagine. There was no malice or hatred behind it, he just could NOT keep it inside. God Bless 🥰
@anilnegi6309 As he got older, the ticks would change. Now he will be 40 this August and has had pretty much the same ones since he was about 20. There is the knocking as hard as he can on tables and counters and doors as he passes by them, some bizarre screech that sounds like a dinosaur, opening his eyes very wide, rhyming words with swear words like "truck, truck F-word" out of nowhere and some strange slurping sound he does when he is trying to get thoughts out when he is frustrated or angry. Unfortunately, he is also bipolar and refuses to take medication so as the bipolar mood changes, the Tourette's symptoms get less or more depending on if he is in an up cycle or down cycle. He had some really bad ones growing up compared to what he does now.
As a soon to be high schooler who has Tourettes, I’m probably gonna be accused of faking my tics at school. Nobody in middle school believes me at all, so I’m stuck with being stared at. I’m just lucky I didn’t self-diagnose myself, I got a professional to diagnose me. My tics were supposed to go away when I hit puberty, but that didn’t work, so I’m hoping I eventually grow out of them in adulthood.
They may not go away with puberty, but in a lot of cases, mine included, they can happen much less frequently the older you get. Remember that your brain is still developing up until your mid twenties, it took about that long for my tics to lessen to a noticeable degree.
I had a friend a couple years ago at school, let’s call her Lizzy. Lizzy has Tourettes and sometimes when we waited at the car park together to be picked up she would apologise and run off to the other side by herself upset that she couldn’t stop ticking. Her tics were mainly coughing, grunting and twitching so even when I went over to ask her if she was okay or needed me to do anything she’d turn away embarrassed, try to cover her face and not look at me. I always felt so awful and wanted to help her, tell her that she didn’t have to run away and it was okay. Especially when my ex bff went around to everyone faking sneezing and screaming and giggling bc she had ‘pippets’ as she would say. She was a full on psychopath that hacked people’s emails (including mine) to make them say horrible stuff to her, some girl she didn’t get in with, our teachers and get our passes reset. So yes, things like that just made Lizzy feel more upset with herself, I’d caught her crying in the bathroom a couple of times thinking she was a ‘freak of nature that shouldn’t exist’ because the psycho had yelled at her and said awful things, I tried to be there for her and she just told me to leave her alone. Is there anything I can do in situations like these to help people in the future?? I just want people to be comfortable in their own skin, because Ik personally what it’s like to be bullied as an outsider and called an ‘outcast’ bc of my ADHD. Any advice is appreciated xx
Being her friend and supporting her consistently is a good start. That applies to people with any mental illness. However, I don't know any specifics for Tourettes since I don't have it. Just be a friend and stand up for her :)
makeing her comfortable is a good thing but don't fellow her as soon as runs off instead if you see her in sight wait till she looks better and not embarrassed then talk to her or even wait until her caregivers come and then tell them or just wait till she come to you

I would like to add! SPD(Sensory Processing Disorder) presents similarly, so I'm super glad you're spreading awareness, considering I have to explain to hundreds at work that I have Sensory Processing Disorder, and that my stims are not controlable. A mom made me very happy yesterday because I made a verbal stim, and a little girl asked if I was ok, I explained to her mom I had SPD, and her mom took the time to explain to her daughter how my movements and verbal stuff wasn't controlable. I still have to deal with the one coworker that tells me to stop faking. Good thing I have a union and my family on my side. Thank you for what you're doing, friend, keep spreading awareness.
hi!! I am sorry if you don't feel like answering but I thought I'd ask. I have very bad sensory processing but I also have what genuinely seem like tics to me. I cannot control them whatsoever when they happen, muscle/vocal-wise. Would that still be stimming to some people? It's just so hard for me to wrap my head around cus half of them are situational/more stim-like. and others are repetitive phrases/movements I've had long-term.
Yo same, except I have APD (auditory processing disorder) which is a sub category of SPD. I also have anxiety, and I get shivers/tingles dow my spine, or my head twitched to the left or right when I’m stressed or in certain situations
My grandson has tourettes and he has told me a lot about how bad it is to fake something for attention. I could agree with him this society is corrupted in some bad ways. He apparently had someone in his school faking tourettes as well, and she never got exposed or had any backlash, just her friends coming over to cheer her on for being brave enough to do something like that 😢
Things like that genuinely make me upset. She and her friends seem to have no self-awareness and lack the capacity to look outside themselves. I hope they learn from that and I hope your grandson won’t have to deal with any more people like that.
My daughter has Tourette’s as well. She’s an amazing teen and deals with it so well, but it’s not something I would wish on anyone. And as a mom it makes me wanna smack the bejesus out of the kids that fake it. I hope your grandson is doing well 🤍
This seems so stressful,, I have similar like tics but from what I know I dont have tourettes because they aren't as common as most people but I think its just part of my autism and they can be annoying, wish you luck :D
It’s so heartbreaking to see who fake it too!! As a person with Panda’s Syndrome, it’s really hard for me to go out in public (like my school or my horse barn) because of my anxiety and the thought of what people will say about it. I’m also very self conscious about myself. It rarely happens but when it does, people normally come up to me and say, “it looks like you’re faking it. Liar.” Or assumes I’m faking it for attention and even on the internet. That’s why I usually don’t do irl videos (besides small clips of me riding) because I just don’t want to deal with the hate and negativity. It just breaks me. I can’t help it so it decreases motivation and bravery to go out in public. We need more people like you!❤
Similar to what everyone else is saying, someone not responding to their tics/barely even noticing them is a great way of knowing whether it’s real or not. I have some tics as well, and a somewhat rarer one is that my neck will tense into my shoulder and I won’t be able to relax it for a couple seconds. This is probably the only one I’ll respond to aloud, since it distracts me from the conversation and I’ll usually say, “One sec,” while I wait for it to stop. Aside from that, with other tics like snapping my fingers or tensing my face, I’ll probably just continue a conversation like nothing’s happening.
Keep creating, you're doing what you want in such a visible way and that opens doors for so many people who struggle to have their voices heard. No one should have to defend or prove their experiences and self.
As someone who had to he hospitalized because of my tics at 8 and got diagnosed, I really appreciate you saying this. I’m 15 now and they have almost completely gone away, I can tell who is faking and who is not. I really wish the best for everyone who is living with this disorder, everybody deserves respect and should never get ridiculed for it because of internet trolls. Stay safe everyone
Genuine question, how do you recognize if someone is faking or not? Is there any specific behaviors that means that someone is faking (sorry for my english)
i wonder if there's something about energy. when I was little, I had epilepsy. Looking back, I couldn't quite figure out how much to give, I'd just take off into a run, I found out later that it's stimming. But I feel like my body and brain were just trying to figure out how everything was supposed to go. I know that sounds weird but it also just disappeared. I got tics and depression instead hehe. What if we're just different and it took a minute to calibrate?

Non Tourettes tics here
Can confirm we react but its usually "ow fuck! That hurt" because tics can hurt especially my main wrist popping tic, my wrist is always sore or occasional giggling at dumb tics once or twice because someone else giggled at it or I get people saying my squeaking tic is cute lol
I squeak a lot when stressed, and I squeak and do other tics in my sleep but it isn't Tourettes apperantly acording to my doctors years ago but I have multiple other disorders that can cause tics so it makes sense
Need to clarify I will squeak until I can't and my throat hurts like hell, it does hurt after a while, so all of my tics hurt minus a few

People were pissed that I used the word “disorder”, telling me that “being neurodivergent implies that it’s not a disorder”
. . . Even though “neurodivergent” was the word that replaced “mental disorder” in many people’s lexicons. They are literally synonymous.
(Excuse the following tangent)
I hate the word neurodivergent and prefer the word disorder because to me, it’s more accurate.

The guy asking about the SO was referring to a conversation that had nothing to do with any disability/disorder, which is what made it so sus to me. It was over text. It wasn’t even a voice chat, either. It was just text on a screen.
I hate having to justify my points with immutable traits. It’s so annoying and frustrating. It shouldn’t be a reason to take anyone’s opinions more seriously unless they are talking about symptoms that they suffer or something like that (you know, like, things others don’t know about or experience in their lives).

That would be a nightmare for me. I'm autistic and screaming feels like literal knifes scrapping in my ears.
This is... wholesome

What?
People fake illnesses to get attention on the Internet
People fake it for attention and it's disgusting.
Lol, She had tourettes and she sing, Amazing (Not really) 😂😂😂
They fake it for clout
I feel you. Your disorder is 100% valid and I fully believe you. I can't talk about having DID for the same reasons.
Mhmm because both of you have a different mental disorder, it's called "attention seeking"
Its possible to have 100 alters but you would NOT be able to function as well as you are now with choosing what dsmp alter to bring out every day.(irl fictives exist too but not that many 💀). I don't have a choice when I dissociate. I constantly put myself in dangerous situations every day and i can barely remember it.
To be fair, DID is a much more contentious topic than Tourette’s.
DID is much more complicated to understand I do as I have a friend that has DID and I have something similar but there no Name to it so I can't really say what it is Dissociative identity disorder (DID) and identity disorder mine is a personality disorder tho it wasn't prescribed since it doesn't change often
yeah. i get insane impostor syndrome and fear people fakeclaiming me even though im diagnosed and waiting for a new therapist (which is why i stay off social media mostly, out of comments etc 99% of the time) so i only talk about our sysmates to our friends. its so fucking upsetting
I dont have Tourettes, however I do have tics from stress and I understand how hard it is to be treated like that. Bc of people like tics and roses my family refuses to believe I have tics even though a few doctors have diagnosed me with them. It’s stressful and it feels like you’re unheard. I’m proud of you for spreading awareness and making your content and not being afraid to show who you are, tics and all
Same here, it’s definitely hard when you’re having a lot of tics and a teacher tells you to stop or something like that
same, someone in my class mocks me for my tics (i get pretty streesed at school), the worst part about the tics tho is that in most tics i kind of hiss, it's so annoying to have them everyday
I hope you guys have a better time in class

I was (mis)diagnosed with Tourette’s when I was around 10 years old. People said I was faking, because I could control it, to some extent. Turns out, I’m mildly on the autistic spectrum, and it was me stimming.
Ah yeah i have a bunch of verbal stims that could easily look to the uneducated like tics

God Bless 🥰
@@anonymousone2843 so it stopped right? Like oof
@@anonymousone2843yeah.. it’s very weird to feel the urge to make a sound or say a word. Thankfully I don’t have it anymore.
@@anonymousone2843 Damn that probably sucked

As a soon to be high schooler who has Tourettes, I’m probably gonna be accused of faking my tics at school. Nobody in middle school believes me at all, so I’m stuck with being stared at. I’m just lucky I didn’t self-diagnose myself, I got a professional to diagnose me. My tics were supposed to go away when I hit puberty, but that didn’t work, so I’m hoping I eventually grow out of them in adulthood.
My… good luck on your journey, friend.
@@phamdung3884 thanks, I’m gonna need it.
They may not go away with puberty, but in a lot of cases, mine included, they can happen much less frequently the older you get. Remember that your brain is still developing up until your mid twenties, it took about that long for my tics to lessen to a noticeable degree.
@@DecafOranges ok, thanks. At least there’s still a chance, right?
I read that in 5 minutes
Being her friend and supporting her consistently is a good start. That applies to people with any mental illness. However, I don't know any specifics for Tourettes since I don't have it. Just be a friend and stand up for her :)
makeing her comfortable is a good thing but don't fellow her as soon as runs off instead if you see her in sight wait till she looks better and not embarrassed then talk to her or even wait until her caregivers come and then tell them or just wait till she come to you
No one should ever feel like that
"come back for part 2" "am i the asshole for fvck!ng my sister?" thats who you remind me of like no one asked for urlife story just say that you dont have tourettes or whatever ppl are just accusing you
She got us at the first part💀💀💀
i just wanted to say that you are so beautiful!!! and i’m so glad your raising awareness for tics!!
I have SPD aswell :D
does autisum count as a SPD also in roblox say im faking autisim THANKS TICSANDROSES
I hope they learn from that and I hope your grandson won’t have to deal with any more people like that.
cheer??? they cheer her...up!!!
The fact that her tics are in the middle of her sentences further proves she’s not faking having tics
edit: i dont think she is faking it
Why she flippin the bird tho
@@JohnnySaintss Um, because it’s a tic? She can’t control it.

@Lucas Fernandez I don't have Tourettes but people have them differently so yeah it doesn't specifically have to be in the middle😐
Keep creating, you're doing what you want in such a visible way and that opens doors for so many people who struggle to have their voices heard.
No one should have to defend or prove their experiences and self.

i wonder if there's something about energy. when I was little, I had epilepsy.
I don't have Tourettes but I do have another disorder that has people who fakeclaim everyone who says they have it because a few faked it, so I understand this feeling a lot. I feel for her. For a while after I had a major concussion one of my meds started to give me tics and it was actually one of the side effects that can happen..(mood stabilizers are fun) and I wasn’t faking it at all. It was absolutely horrible. It felt violating and I didn’t have control. And I was accused of faking it so many times…I’m on a different medication now and they have stopped but still I absolutely feel for her and know she’s not faking it.
I was on a med for 3 days and immediately jumped ship because it caused urinary retention. Side effects are insane, I just wanna be able to function and not be depressed ☹️ (I also had urinary retention as a side effect of some decongestants once so it wasn't my first rodeo.
