This COTD was filmed shortly after the pyramids where built. This was going to be used for a WirtualTV COTD video but another one was used instead and we have a backlog so there is delays. Hope you enjoy the video it's a really good COTD! Thanks for the support on the channel

@@montymol3_467 yeah i saw, still think it’s kinda weird that the VOD channel doesn’t upload complete VODs tho and that they’re often late, like a month late in some cases.
Like VODs are in other cases often complete streams, not cut up and uploaded immediately after stream

I remember when this map was totd. I was just a young kid. It was the cold war, and the Internet had just came into existence. This totd gives me memories of those times. Back in literally 1984 when he streamed this. So much nostalgia in this one video it is hard to describe. Thank you w guy, for this throwback to the past.
I remember when this map was cotd. I wasn't able to partake in it, as I was busy helping George Washington cross the ice-filled Delaware river in a rowboat on Christmas Day to defeat the British in 1776. This was the first step towards getting the American car skin added to the game.

I remember the Christmas Armistice of 1914 was going on during this cup of the day. All the soldiers climbed out of the trenches with muddy feet, and all played this CotD.

Ahh, don't worry about the delays Wirtual! Given that TH-cam had not yet even existed when this video was recorded it's certainly understandable that you'd forget to publish it once you began using this relatively new platform finally. I'm glad you finally got around to it now though :)
Ah, I get so nostalgic every time I see this CotD. As young lads working the arctic oil rig we used to huddle around our supervisors laptop to keep warm as he played. I couldn't participate though because we didn't have enough electricity for multiple computers. This really brings me back.

This map is what got me into Trackmania. I've never played it, I just stumbled across Scrapie playing it on YT and thought I'd give TM a go
This is the kind of track where being 36/37 consistently gets you top 8 assuming you find a line that's crashproof
Holy cow I see what you guys were talking about now with the COTDs, I remember when I watched this vod on twitch. I was two months behind the live broadcasts, and trying to catch up. I had just asked out my best friend, we'd been flirting for a while and I remember this COTD specifically because we watched it together. Our ten year anniversary is in three days.
(Most of that's true, I did watch the vod on twitch two months behind live, and in three days is mine and my partner's ten year anniversary. I wanted to make a "wow ancient" joke but also I'm just really happy we're together, they really are my best friend.)

I love how the most viewed part of the video is the when Wirtual is looking at the world record run for the map, as a select number of people suprisingly don't buy the game pass/standard pass for the game.

I remember when this map was COTD. Unfortunately, I was not able to participate in this contest as I was busy defending Hong Kong Island during the Japanese invasion in World War 2.
This was my first ever cup of the day when I bought the game (same day). Needless to say, after years of watching Wirtual.. I realized how much harder, and unforgiving, this game was than what he makes it seem.
Edit - I went back and was able to get gold with a 37s run. :-) So much easier now that I know how to play the game. Amazing what 3 months of playing cup of the day will do.

Oooh this one COTD i was planning on watching it but me and bros went hunting down a mammoth, now that they're extinct i can watch it
I love that Wirt committed to the drop off the grass that he kept consistently screwing up, which wasn't even faster than the normal strat everyone else was doing anyway. And because he always ended up wider he had to turn harder and lost speed each time regardless. Dude is his own worst enemy half the time committing to terrible lines cause he thinks they're faster.

classic Wirtual, the vulture approach... drive incredible mid/safe lines, and get top 5 because the chad drivers go for good times all the time but get knocked out because of mistakes.

When I saw this title I thought this track would disable left and right inputs.... still cool though. I thought it'd be like a puzzle on how the let the car slide on its own to stay on the track.

if you were able to drive a consistent 36.2 (as he mentions at about 24:25 or a bit after), you would've likely survived to top 2-3. your only risk would be the round Wirtual got out, as he drove a 36.271 and got out.
