Finally, you’re the first TH-camr that I’ve seen mention both scenes from KH, KH2, Dissidia, & JAT himself when it comes to Tidus’s pronunciation. And I watched a lot of videos on how to pronounce it. Great stuff. Also, thank you for fully explaining the laugh scene. So many misunderstood.
I must say, I'm surprised at that - there are so many videos about FFX that I thought those points might have been covered somewhere else already that I hadn't seen! But thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it 😁
You know I was just thinking about how there isn't a water Aeon, and it does make sense that Tidus, Sin, or even The Final Aeon would count as a water aeon.
Teedus. Its a play on the jp word for sun. (sun Crest and sigil) yuna a play on the word for moon. (moon Crest and sigil) tiedus is a name tho. Its spelled Titus. The water thing is pure bs.
I'd say that the most interesting one you spoke about was the "affection system." I noticed a few things that changed over the few times that I replayed the game; one of which was the Blitz Ace move and who threw the ball to "TEE-DUS" lol. Very cool video. Thank you.
To be honest I was surprised just how much you could influence it throughout the game, considering that it doesn't change that many scenes when all's said and done. I suppose the fact that they chose to include such a system at all is interesting in itself. Thanks for watching too!
Aside from representing the sea hibiscus, Floral Fallal represents the _new_ Yuna as well...she's attacking with twin pistils! (No, its not a misspelling, its a pun. Look it up.)
Thank you! This is a great video. Reminded me of what an incredible game this is. FFX is one of the most significant and influential games of my childhood.
Literally beat the chocobo trainer at 0 seconds the FIRST TIME I played it when I was 11 in 2001. That has never happened again and I have no clue how I managed that in one play.

To be fair, saying Tidus as Tidus does make sense. Otherwise it would have been written as Tydus. Its just that in English it doesn't "sound" very cool. So that's why many likely called him Tydus instead
Sometimes I do forget and revert to Tide-us given that honestly that's how I thought it was said for so long! But it's hard to argue against Teedus being the more accurate pronunciation
I kinda miss the days before voice acting when there was more ambiguity about such things! Well, especially as we could rename characters then too haha
When I was a kid, I used to call him Teedus but my friend told me I was wrong and how dumb I sounded. So I naturally switched to saying Tide-us, and all these years later I learned I was correct all along!!! I still call him Tide-us though, can't go back 😂😂
@@FF-Gamr both those game’s protagonists were greatly done. Thats why they resonate to this day. Wonderfully made games prob will never happen again like that
For me, the protag of FFX was always "Tee-dus" from day 1. I never knew any differently. I was 10 when FFX dropped, and my friends in the neighborhood were all little weebs. The oldest of us was 14 and already chronically online and was very explicit when we all gathered at his house and watched him load the game up for the first time that the main char's name was pronounced "Tee-dus." So, for me, it felt weird when anyone pronounced it "Tie-dus" and I would correct them lmao. I didnt even know that I was already perpetuating one of the biggest arguments in gaming history
That's why I find language amazing, that different people can be given a word without being told how to say it, and choose different pronunciations, based off - personal preference I guess? Or culture? I'm not really sure haha 😅 but it's always important to take into account other people's interpretations too, I think - though that can depend on the context too
I was 9 when the game came out. I used to watch my older brothers play (8-10 years older) and I played too. I remember sucking so much at the game that I got stuck at the chocobo eater. My save file was so bad even my brother can't finish it with my save. I had to use his to progress through the story 😂
If it isn't an English name, spell it as a spanish or italian would, they are the closest to one letter one sound and also to japanese transcriptions. Not a secret that they messed up english in that regard 😅
Heterochromea simply means that someone’s eyes are different colors. It’s not indicative of a condition or a disease. It would be like saying someone has brown hair.
"its pronounced teedus because its a reference too teeda" "its only pronounced teedus because an american narrator said teedus" you just completely completely contradicted yourself
I found something, PS3 and PS4 FFX Remastered Dics version when play many times game data will crash, it cannot run data. Disc really good but it say"App closed because disc broken or dirt"
Great video. I actually did learn quite a few cool things and I've been watching this sort of content for years now :) Side note : As a non anglo-saxon, hearing people talk over and over about how "tide"-us makes more sense than his real name really gets me. The world really doesn't revolve around you.

Well, in fairness, while Teedus is the pronunciation that's been used most of the time in various games, I think SE's stance is still basically "call him what you want", which is why saying it as Tide-us still has some validity. At least that's the impression I get...
Well, that certainly applied to me - I didn't even know there was another way of saying it for years! To be fair, I think Kitase suggested in a different interview that because he was never named in the first game, it's always been left up to players' interpretation depending on what they prefer
So at the beginning of ffx, you get to choose his name. That to me means that you also decide the pronunciation. So regardless of the two pronunciations being spelled the same, you can pronounce it however you choose because you are choosing his name.
You always got the one person who pipes up and is like "It's pronounced Tee-dus, not Tie-dus.". Well maybe so, but that sounds stupid. And if Tidus were here he wouldn't want to be called Tee-dus either.

FFX is such a beautiful game man. it’s not even the nostalgia talking, the game is pure art.
Totally agree with you! 💯
@@SensuisRevenge it’s very well done.
It really is art. I remember first playing it the day it came out. I was instantly in love. Still one of the most perfect games ever made. ❤️😍🥰

Eyo i'm just about to replay your prof pic
Fact: ffx-2. Yuna’s fighting style and lines in the warrior dressphere, mirror Tidus
Good point!
Many don't know about the unlockables in 10 2 ....
Paine is the same she said some lines that Auron said
I always name Tidus ReJecht. Also, the reason we don't have a water aeon is because Tidus is the water Aeon TIDEus and his affinity for blitzball.
ReJecht works so well, it's perfect really 😂 and it's funny to think of him as basically being a summon
It's because Sin is basically Leviathan in that game.
You know I was just thinking about how there isn't a water Aeon, and it does make sense that Tidus, Sin, or even The Final Aeon would count as a water aeon.

Thank you 😁 well I could probably do with being more active to be fair haha. But hopefully I can improve on that now!

Good video bro
Fair enough! And thanks 😄
Final Fantasy 10 is one of my all-time favorites. I play it, along with 8 and 12, once a year. I will never get bored of playing it. 😊
Amazing video brother 🔥
56: Teedus is a stupid name and you should say TIDEUS
No idea how you found all those facts but great video :D
Never heard about the tattoo system before, that could have been cool if we did end up with it.

Maybe it helped to go into it without any prior knowledge about it? At least you can say you beat it anyway!
My current playthrough I first tried it…now I have to 100% the game cause I won’t ever do any better in that mini game 😅
And never delete that save file! 😆

18:01. If they were released in the US, I can see criminals using these to rob businesses.
Tide can also symbol water so it doesn't need to be tee
TECHNICALLY.... He is the ONLY character you get to name in the game, meaning it could be WHATEVER you want, honestly....
Teedus all day long for me 😁
Sometimes I do forget and revert to Tide-us given that honestly that's how I thought it was said for so long! But it's hard to argue against Teedus being the more accurate pronunciation
Yeah it's like Seifer from VIII I used to call him sehfer but then kingdom hearts called him cypher

Renaming characters was fun it made it more personal

Original tidus hair is Sora hair lol
Well given that there was about half a year or so between their original release dates, that's probably about right! 😅
@@FF-Gamr both those game’s protagonists were greatly done. Thats why they resonate to this day. Wonderfully made games prob will never happen again like that
Definitely - even though some people really don't like Tidus and FFX, and I'm not really sure why. It's peak Final Fantasy IMO.

In German Tidus' celestial weapon is called "Ultima - Schwert", so it's not ultima weapon, it's more like Ultima - Sword.
Ah right, thanks for the clarification
@@FF-Gamr you're welcome. German localizations are weird more often than not, especially the older ones

Well sadly there are precedents for that - Aerith/Aeris still being the most notorious I suppose
Yuna doesn’t have an eye condition. It’s because she has Al Bhed blood in her
heterochromia can be genetic

Back in the day we just had to assume it was Tide because we previously had Cloud and Squall, other water words pronounced their anglo watery way.
@Bozebo Plus, there's no water aeon which Tide us would make sense to be. Either way it doesn't bother me.
Of course it does, more people speak English than any other language on the planet ...youre welcome btw.

Yep, it’s pronounced “ Tee-da” according to the Japanese katakana. In the US, they put an S on the end, therefore Tee-dus.
