We have had Motorhome's for over 20 years. You are tight to get the beast sorted asap as you have just got it. I found after a while it was more simple for me to get the tool s out and sort basic issues myself. Issues around wind draft coming in. Have a check to see if one roof hatch has had the beading removed. We have a Carthago and the factory remove the foam strip around the bedroom fan light. This is explained that the van is well sealed and needs some ventilation access. They choose the bedroom fan light as it's at the other end of the van when driving
OMG! That roof needs fixed before heavy rain falls, it looks like that section wasn’t fitted properly during construction. I’m guessing that the previous owner sold it on because the roof was leaking. I would just buy a Jackery Power station with portable solar panels. The more you put on the roof the more leaks you could get.
Nice one. Remember your previous video. Big fridge is a must for me off grid....hadn't thought of the toilet and special one you were putting in. Enjoy it when done!
Just a small point the plastic cap off the seat belt mount that was missing probably came off because the seat back rest catches it when you spin the chair round. I’ve double sided tape mine but only if you can find it.
Personally Id have put an Ecoflow power station and extra battery in plus their 800 W alternator charger which is what we did in our van and saved an absolute fortune
Ive got a Clayton LPS in my VW grand cali which worked great but they just dont have enough power plus space is almost endless in the new van so decided to go down that route instead.
I look forward to seeing the install and new adventures. If it makes you feel better our motorhome had so many faults when collected it. TBH I ended up fixing most of them myself so I knew it had been done properly. Best one was our 90 litre water tank had no screws fixing it down so it just slide from side to side.
Chris, we had a similar squeak on the front of our van. It could be quietened by liberally spraying silicone spray along the join. This would only solve the problem for 500 miles ish. In the end the panoramic window was replaced under warranty as it had been installed slightly out of alignment and is a common issue with Adria Twins.
Not to be captain hindsight, but you might have been better getting a large van conversion rather than a coachbuilt. The quality of these vehicles nowhere near reflects the price that people want for them.
I did a self build crafter, bought the crafter brand new, did the conversion myself ( owner of CNC company) and sold it after 12months for a new swift kon tiki. Sold the kon tiki after 4 months as the built quality was garbage and traded it for a German manufactured MH and the build quality on that is garbage as well……. Should have kept the crafter😂👍🏻
Getting there mate, have a quick word with Dave if your thinking about the Cinderella loo as not sure if it has a side vent or roof so may need to allow space for that run
Hi great video and sorry to see you having problems with your new purchase. I don't own a camper van but just interested, out of interest what is the liquid in the container in the cupboard near to what I think was the telescope tv arial.
I hope you don't think am sticking my nose in ,but that's a lot of battery , there's no way you can charge them up with amount of solar your fitting, you would need 2000 watts of solar to charge them form flat , and would need 10 hours of full sun . Also max air fans are ok but never have them pulling air in or you will have dust everywhere. good luck enjoy your travels.
Yeah thats the plan, plenty of capacity. They will never need to charge from flat, we charge them at home before we leave and we drive at least 4 hours per day which will do the vast majority of the charging including the alternator upgrade im doing ill be fine. We going for 720w of solar and they high end Tiger Exped HV panels too so much higher end than the basic panels a lot of people buy. That said we travel during the winter so im not expecting the solar to contribute a whole lot but if it can offset say the Starlink per day its one less thing to worry about. Yeah ive heard that about those fans but as i said it will be pulling smells out not bringing air in.
Hey. It’s Adapt Vans near Peterlee way. If you want their details I’m happy to pass them on. He’s a great guy and knows his stuff. Chris@sloanesmedia.com email me and I’ll send them over
Those Man trucks are great to drive, I was happy driving them for miles, decent cabs. But aye, not sure I'd want to be driving a CAT C truck for a motorhome in all practicality.
Starlink weighs less than 10kg I’m expecting the batteries and solar to add around 60-70kg. Leaves me around 280kg ish before we add another 70kg or so with the hydraulic legs
Definitely not. I still have it but this motorhome is a game changer. I love it despite the few issues I’ve had. On our first trip in it at the minute and I absolutely love it.
Yep you are correct, Lewis did tell me that it is an ex-forces thing. As you can tell i dont know what im talking about with them but it was very cool thats for sure.
Chatting to a guy who lives in and also builds high end narrow boats. He has the expensive toilet set up in his own boat and swears by it. Honestly, initially I thought it was a wacko idea.
Keep seeing you driving an Audi. Was the Panda a joke, or do you have that? You don't need a TV ariel with a smart TV so you can watch Dickinsons real deal on Iplayer until your heart is content. 😂
Haha it is actually my run around and I love it. I drove the Audi as it’s Dani’s run about and she dropped me off to pickup the van. Ahh yeah didn’t think of that. Suppose once I’ve got Starlink up and running in the van I’ll not need it
Already got one. Its great had it 2 year in my grand California but I want something more powerful and I’ve got a lot of space. However I can’t recommend the Clayton highly enough it’s been amazing.
@@ChrisSloanes is that with a full tank of fuel and water and food? We had to get our van up-plated from 3500 to 440 and probably still close to being overloaded. Best investment was rear air suspension and automatic leveling system.

Underslung gas tank about 38ltr will fit, I recommend Autogas 2001 in Thursk as it frees up your gas locker

Totally agree. Couldn’t wait to get rid of my coachbuilt for a large Ducato campervan 👌🏽

Maybe an additional rubber seal on the over cab window on the outer side but on the under side of the window may help reduce the noise further.
That's an impressive list of modifications you have planned you must be a very serious off gridder Chris.
We exclusively stay off grid. Generally around 20 weeks or so per year minimum really so we need it. Especially to work off grid too

Looks a lovely motorhome pity u are having problems

Its the expansion tank for the Alde wet heating system .

Hey Chris, enjoying the videos immensely, could you tell me the name of the company doing your van electrics please.

How much extra weight will the solar panels and starlink add to the vehicle remove from your available payload ?

Hi pal you should be given 30 days if it's faulty you should get full refund, been through it
It's worth going to a weight check with fuel and water tanks full before you add the electrical.
Nah got plenty spare.
Is the driver's door window trim above your right shoulder broken? MM
Chris, do you wish you had kept the Crafter ?
Definitely not. I still have it but this motorhome is a game changer. I love it despite the few issues I’ve had. On our first trip in it at the minute and I absolutely love it.
@@ChrisSloanesIt’s stunning but I am worried about that gap on the roof!
What’s happening to PDI?
Thats an ex forces MAN possibly an HX60. Unimog is a Mercedes thing on stilts.

Why not have a look at Clayton power units.
Already got one. Its great had it 2 year in my grand California but I want something more powerful and I’ve got a lot of space. However I can’t recommend the Clayton highly enough it’s been amazing.
Nice one. Just installed a similar electrical system to mine. My latest vids 👍
Check out one life truck it Bobby and marie travelling in a Man vehicle.
What is your payload?
I’ll still have another 270kg after the electric install
@@ChrisSloanes is that with a full tank of fuel and water and food? We had to get our van up-plated from 3500 to 440 and probably still close to being overloaded. Best investment was rear air suspension and automatic leveling system.
Yeah. We should be fine. We pack light too.
Hydraulic levelling is our next mod after the electric system i think.
Go for Alko HY4 as it has a bigger lift than E&P
Seat belt cover still missing? 🤔
Nah i think in the fiats its just literally a bolt cover, the rest is exposed.
Best option buy german
I wouldn’t buy German again, we had 3 months of non stop problems
Give it a month til you smack your first wing mirror off
Be a canny set up when done
Oh dear stick with the Cali! That one will be so dangerous in a crash. They just come to bits. Sorry
I don’t plan on crashing it 😂
