Here’s a tip for you, just back from travelling around Spain for the month and we ran out of chemical liquids and couldn’t find any replacements. After a bit of research we found out that bio laundry liquid works better keeps the smells at bay and is non toxic !!
Hi Chris, at 5.37 on the video you walked pasted the Vital Spark this small cargo ship is a typical cargo vessel known as a Clyde Puffer. These ships served the isles on the west coast carrying supplies etc to them. The Vital Spark was used in a comedy series about the life onboard these vessels ( believe it was BBC ) and if you search Vital Spark on You Tube you can still find episodes of the series.
❤My beautiful Homeland I cold never live anywhere else.Seeing our beautiful hills everyday lifts me up and makes me smile everyday. Enjoy your trip in your lovely Motor Home.❤
Hi Both, we use an aeropress to make a perfect coffee in the van. You can use what ever your preferred coffee is and Just need to boil the kettle to make a perfect coffee. No make, no pods and so easy to clean and use.
We have E&P levellers fitted to our van , fitted by SAP in Doncaster , best thing we bought for the van , no more rocking about in the wind , no more rocking about if one of you get up in the night , great video , keep it up , just ordered , ULTIMATE SCOTTISH ROAD TRIP , thanks
Couldn’t agree more on the size of motorhomes versus campervans. It drives me crazy when I hear the continual tosh about how limiting motorhomes are. I’ve done the NC500 multiple times in a 9m 7tonne Concorde Charisma and never once got stuck or caused any issues. Fine, you have less parking opportunities but I’ve found some absolute corkers over the years. I love my Knaus BoxDrive 600XL (similar to GC600) as I don’t have to really preplan trips but I’d love to go back to a bigger van at some point. Enjoy your travels!
To help to stop locking you out when you unlock the motorhome, open then close either the passenger or drivers door, there is an option in the menu to turn this auto lock feature off but for me it makes no difference. Regarding the toilet, we use Sol Bio, moving onto the missing engine under the tray, it was supplied but now it is not, only the two side trays are now included but can buy the centre tray off eBay, hope this helps.
@@GeoffJonesEsprit Currently One-Chem. I tried SolBio as it was so enthused over by TH-cam VanLifers so thought why not? Found it is really horrible soon after the loo gets used - and I don't have a great sense of smell so muct have been bad!
We visited isle of Skye last year towed our caravan through Glencoe it looked amazing only problem was that we couldn’t really stop to take in the views so easily with our setup. Looking forward to taking our motorhome which should be easier. Great video hope to see you next week at the NEC.
The speed cameras are there because when a contractor applies to temporarily change the speed limit, it’s for a set period. If the work either starts or finishes early or late then they don’t change it as they have to pay an additional cost. Hence the temporary speed limit stays in place whether work either hasn’t started, or finishes early.
That’s insane really. They should have to compensate people for every day they are there never mind leaving them there when the work is done or hasn’t started.
A bit short sighted there mate. Some nice places around Campbeltown that you totally missed. Southend has a lovely place to sleep for free right on the beach and Macrihanish has a spot just after it where you can park right on the beach. Two places well worth a visit.
We were at Luss on Monday and headed via the Inverary road and then up to Oban and over to Mull - it’s a cracking route isn’t it - sorry to hear about the problems with the van, hope you manage to get them sorted out to your satisfaction - all the best, David 👍
Hi both, new to your channel loving your blogs live very local to Birtley . Bought our New to us MH last year ..jumped in with both feet and bought a Autotrail chieftain autlomatic ❤ it love the soace we have and have no regrets. First trip out we went and traveled the west side of scotland ..We have never let the size of our van restrict us from traveling ..We just come back from Cornwall. We ventured down a couple off very nartow roads. we came head to head with a double decker service bus and had to reverse for some considerable distance and to be totally honest it wasnt hard reversing just not plessurable, other than that we weren't restricted. stayed at some amazing off grid stopovers and pulled on to campsites when we needed to empty our toilet and required the use of electric facilities . Ps we are in our fifties...and my other half is an amazing confident driver that not shy of any terrain. So funny the comment on the hand waving as we also found it amuzing. nice to see ya a waver and not a w....r as the saying goes .
Aye we have used the Forestry commission park ups a few times, really handy, cheap and I hope they keep offering this service as I think it's a trail at the moment to see how it goes.
great video. Very surprised that you hadn't done the road from Tarbet over the Rest and Be Thankful to Arrochar and Inverary. Well worth an entry in you guide.
Make it so that the leads are in a particular box that you only get out, when they are going out. Try to think like the dogs. Remember that they need SOME sign, and they will interpret whatever you do as the sign. You are just tormenting them by making the sign then making them wait.
We downsized to a van conversion last year, an IH 630 RL. not for us, took a bit of a financial loss but went back to a coach built. We had a bit of trouble adapting to the lack of space. Our new van has an E&P levelling system fitted. Such a difference. You won’t regret it.,
Its lovely around there. Im a hgv driver and regularly drive on those roads. Such a privilege. On the riad works. I drive that road every day. Drives me insane as the work is on the bridge just before the junction. Dont really understand why they put it so far back. Worst case id when a car driver wont go over 25 mph 🤦🏻♂️
Im assuming you have a compressor fridge to drain the battery in a night? Alright ours is only a factory van build, but our 95ah agm battery lasts as long as we need offgrid, our power usage isnt a lot but the 160w solar normally has it replenished before weve had breakfast. Decent panel mind you even with cloud.
Our fridge runs off gas when we aren’t plugged in or dc when we drive. We having our new electrical system installed at end of the month with 660ah of lithium and a 720w solar so we will be bang on then but the agm batteries they put in are shockingly small capacity for the general onboard bits before you even begin to add stuff
Hi just subscribed I've watched a few of yr videos and its very interesting. I've got the ultimate motorhome security.......male and female Belgium manoilos defo the ultimate in security
Can you not disable the auto lock. The new swift Kontiki has this issue, Bob Earnshaw has already locked himself out. Fortunately his wife was carrying the spare key.
Loving the dogs, especially the wire haired Vizsla, he is going to take up a lot of that space inside the van. You do know they are nicknamed velcro dogs are they need to be close to you 😁
Right Chris, sod you I was going to invite you to my house but our kitchen extension is grey pebbledash, the rest of the house is solid a Granite, anywhere we are painting the pebbledash but you will have to wait til next year for the invite 😄😄😄😄😄

Chris I’ve watched you for a while now and loved the cali. Would you not of been better with maybe a LWB crafter base van and then do your own build and maybe a pop top. I’ve watched your vids with all the snags on the kotorhome and it must be awful paying so much and having so many problems. Its not like its a £25K motorhome which is ‘ cheap ‘
Average speed cameras are a revenue raising cash cow when used like this - I see them all over the country, where lazy councils, or contractors cant be bothered to remove them. Most importantly - glad to see you are out and enjoying the new van - more so given your last vlog complaining about the snagging issues. Your cooking requirements sound like my kids when they were at home - I used to blitz the starter paste for my curry's, purely as both my kids hated lumps, or odd textures in their food.. They still come home for dads famous curry though... lol. And i still have to blitz the paste.

sol bio stinks worse than the deposits that you put in the toilet! Tried it for a year and was awful.

I always thought they put them in early so motorists get used to having the limit in place before people start working.
A bit short sighted there mate. Some nice places around Campbeltown that you totally missed. Southend has a lovely place to sleep for free right on the beach and Macrihanish has a spot just after it where you can park right on the beach. Two places well worth a visit.
I use laundry bio fluid, it works just as well and nicer smell.
I really liked this video mate, I hope there's more of this to come
I know its a small thing but the plastic cover on the drivers side seatbelt bolt has fallen off , i noticed it because mine done the same 👍
Great video, Chris. Enjoying the more relaxed style. You definitely need an Aeropress though. They can take a battering and store easily.

If you get down to the Ross of Mull near the Iona Ferry, i can highly recommend Fiddon farm campsite. Stunning views on an amazing beach

Hi Chris your auto locking on the van 🚐 you should be able to change it or turn it off using the settings on the dash/ clock menu
Make it so that the leads are in a particular box that you only get out, when they are going out. Try to think like the dogs. Remember that they need SOME sign, and they will interpret whatever you do as the sign. You are just tormenting them by making the sign then making them wait.

Jeez yeah I’d like to see the face of anyone who tries to break in to yours! Beautiful and smart dogs
Wait until you get to Tarbert. That is the place to go in the summer.
With regard to the average speed bollox, I read that they do it for the drivers to "get used to the changes", only the UK come up with such bs
you cant move in the summer at inverary some cracking bits to see visit from inverary
