@@lesiuiuur123 in some ways it is depends on the optimization of the software, obviously it's not modular but in terms of performance the studio wins certain categories and as time goes on and software updates the studio will get better

I've had two Macs that lasted over a decade - a G3 tower (12yrs) and a titanium laptop (14yrs) My last MacBook Pro is still out there somewhere making somebody money - it's over 10yrs old too. I also have a 1997 Laserwriter 8500 printer still kicking out pages 20+ years later. But yeah - you guys keep replacing those PCs every 2-3 years. ;-)

If you got a Galaxy S, that is actually one of the best consumer displays you can buy and very capable of showing the videos prowess, though your eyes might have problems with the small screen.
Samsung has one of the best screens though... and it's still really good in a lot of other things

I wish people would more readily, and more deeply understand and appreciate that Apple does not sell your soul and your data to other companies to offset their costs like pretty much every one of their competitors. They are a hardware company through and through, I see value in that, it's a more honest way of doing business. My old Mac Pro sounds like a jet taking off if I crank the fans. I find that comforting. 48Gb ram, multiple SSDs, RX580, 12 cores with two Xeon processors, etc. Cost me about 1/50th of a new Mac Pro. I have no problem editing all of the RAW video that I shoot. I don't shoot 6k or 8k raw - that is just silly!

@Michael Pace what does weight have to do with it? How does its weight prevent it from being delivered to your home via car carrier, flatbed, or driver after purchase? It is a fairly strong probability, the car dealership is closer to your home than the Apple store or distribution center.

Therefore if you're spending 40k on a computer you would think that they could cover the small cost of shipping. Whereas a car is much more expensive to ship, it becomes a little more understandable to pay for that delivery.

The problem with Apple is always the same. It's great hardware, great software BUT at an absurd premium.
Quality-Price ratio matters to me, and in terms of performance per dollar, Mac 2020 is one of the worse out there.
What really confuses me is that if you're in the niche for top performance, you probably want the compatibility Windows/Linus delivers. Is Apple gonna sell like 10 of these, how many video editors are there that are willing/need to splurge 40k on a device?

Fun fact: At a lower price, you can make a 2 x 64 core Epyc 7742 with 2 RTX 3090s, 2 1500w PSUs, 2TB RAM, RGB RAM heatsinks, 14tb of PciE m.2s, 64tb of HDD, the best peripherals, A Lian LI desk cabinet with space for two PCs, a water-cooled PS4/Xbox/both, water cooling for the PC, 3 4k 120hz TVs/1 8k TV and all Adobe products and it would still cost less than this.
Oh, and an entire home theatre system
I know it's practically impossible, just wanted to compare
Threadripper processors don’t support more than 256GB of RAM (theoretically they do support 2TB RAM but it’s for a different type of RAM & that specific type of RAM doesn’t yet come in 128GB sticks & you need 128GB sticks to be able to put 2TB RAM in your system). SO because of that I’d ditch the home theater system and get 2 EPYC 7742 64 core processors to have a total of 128 cores and 256 threads. It’d run a couple hundred MHz lower than a Threadripper but in return I’d get a much higher raw multicore power + that wouldn’t matter since I’d have a special sauce BIOS that unlocks overclocking capabilities for those EPYC processors and I’d cool it with a closed loop liquid nitrogen system like the one Kingpin created with EVGA. Then I’d have 3 Quadro RTX 8000 Ampere cards (when they come out) and one Titan RTX Ampere card (like Linus got in his “Mac Pro killer” system). I’d have super fast PCIe gen 4 ssd and a buncha 20TB hard drives with an extra SSD as a cache to increase the speed of data access for those hard drives, and so on.
