    Those b&w detail shots are superb. The banded one @19:21 is so dang neat. And the last one with the two rocks, the lines are great. Nice seeing some b&w conversions, don't see it from you too often. The contrast got pushed a bit further than I usually feel is "ok" so maybe next time I'll try that out.

    We’ve had our home in Qualicum for 25 years but I’ve never made it over to Hornby; even though I can see Tribune Bay and the area where you were photographing from our patio. There are just so many great spots on the island(s).
    Adam, I really do think it’s time for you to cave and get the Tacoma - with a pop-up camper. The Delica is looking pretty tired.
    PS I drove hwy 40 yesterday through Kananaskis and the Highwood Pass. The larches are incredible; you’ve only got a week or so toget over here and photograph them. Cheers.

    It's good to take and keep photos that you think at the time or in retrospect that aren't that great to train yourself and perhaps others on what's not great about the composition, lighting or other aspects of it to help improve your photography or others.

    Great video Adam! Really enjoyed that. Funny, you said the same I did (running around like a chicken with head cut off) when I was there, at that one spot with the tafoni 😂. I was sooo frustrated! It was nice that you were able to go back again with different light. Really loved that one at 9:00. Those patterns were really nice. 👍
    I know you said you were all about the black and white on this trip, but those shots after the supposed 'sunset', I wonder what they'd look like in color, with a little ambient blue-hour light? Anyway, just a thought. Beautiful either way.
    Fantastic video! Glad you were able to dust off the old cobwebs and get out again. Thanks so much for taking us along. 😊

    One of the reasons that I'm an amateur is that I'm not willing to wait for the best light. I try to get the best photo I can wherever I am whenever I happen to be there. If I was a professional, I would wait for the best light to get the best shot. I've always admired anyone who does that.

    Adam, the collection of shells is an octopuses garden, a place where an octopus eats and leaves the shells. If you look closely at the shells at least half of them have a small circular hole that the octopus makes to suck out the shellfish from inside.

  • @SD_Alias
    @SD_Alias ปีที่แล้ว

    Very beautiful. I love such detail shot of interesting structures. Some of the b&w could do with a bit of tone plus in the quarter tones I think. They seem a bit harsh that way. But that is a matter of taste Very beautiful…

  • @brianbeattyphotography
    @brianbeattyphotography ปีที่แล้ว

    The image at 7:11 looks cool, and agree that the foreground is the most interesting part. I wonder how it would've looked if the camera was basically on the ground looking up. Might have made it look like a scene out of Goblin Valley SP? Really like the B&W images!

  • @lphilpot01
    @lphilpot01 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those sand / rock / beach pattern shots are really nice. My weird mind and eye see desiccated skulls in many of the small boulders! Personally, I think they'd look great as a tinted monochrome - Black and white, but with just a slight cast of some color to add more life. I felt when each raw preview faded to the final mono image a bit was lost as the (admittedly subdued) color went away. But again that's just my personal approach and who am I to comment? LOL

    Just a question --- do you not fly your Drone to make the sweeping films that you once did ?

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couple of reasons. Carrying the drone with all of my gear is a bit much. Second, most of the areas are restricted in that they are parks and since I am putting these videos out in public some folk just love to call you out so I don't bother as much. Its unfortunate as the drone does add a lot of value to the videos.
