Acerbis Plastics vs. UFO Plastics

  • I bought Acerbis, wasn't very happy with it, so I bought some UFO plastics and was surprised to see a difference in quality, given the 3 dollars difference in price. UFO's are only 3oz more?
    Update to this video, the Acerbis seemed stronger around the mounting area which could explain the weight similarities.

    isnt flexible plastics good in dirt applications so it doesnt snap when you crash?

      TheDragorin They are both flexible enough for dirt. I see the UFO's holding up better in a crash. Just showing the differences for those looking at purchasing plastics and aren't sure which to choose. Also, the UFO's feel more similar to the Honda OEM plastics as far as flex goes vs. the Acerbis.

      +TheDragorin Yes you want it to flex, Flexible fenders bend while stiff ones break!

    • @SlammedBeretta
      @SlammedBeretta 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +USA Outdoorsman The way your flexing the fenders does not happen when its on the bike, The sole purpose of a fender to to block the dirt flying off the wheel. The softer fender is not as loud when riding through rocks and hard packed dirt either! UFO is known for making junk products, Acerbis is not!

      SlammedBeretta When a fender flexes at 65+ mph it's annoying to feel it vibrate and shake through the front end, also if you compare to oem, UFO's are a closer match to feel, and flexing the fender the way I did, is the same direction the wind flexes my fender when riding. I can't say I've noticed a difference in sound of dirt and rocks lol, post a video up on that one and compare. Maybe look into a decent exhaust if the sound of hard pack dirt is making a lot of noise on your fender lol. Glad you shared your opinion on what you prefer. UFO is quite superior to the Acerbis as shown in my video IMO.

      USA Outdoorsman I race hare scrambles and motocross. The exhaust note is behind you when your riding so its not that loud when having your bike pinned in 3rd gear as it is to bustanders.

      @@assia5138 I disagree. UFO plastics were closer to OEM plastics when I compared them to the OEM plastics. UFO flexes similarly to Honda's, and Honda plastics were extremely robust.

    I'm trying to find Plastics for a CRF that aren't as pointed like a typical Plastic on dirtbikes..i want some that are kind of rounded to eventually buy some super moto wheels and rims for a conversion

    You would want it more flexible so when you fall off you don't snap it

    • @usaoutdoorsman6559
      @usaoutdoorsman6559  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blake Vella I agree. I feel the OEM plastics are probably the best, and IMO the UFO's feel closer to OEM in regards to stiffness and flex. I'm not trying to demonstrate the UFO plastics as being hard, and brittle. but I think the Acerbis would crease easily in a fall, where I think the UFO's would recover their shape better after the same fall. Thanks for the comment.

  • @spookydarkness1811
    @spookydarkness1811 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I run ALL Acerbis plastics on my YZ125 and YZ250 hold up good, very good fitting, no movement, flex is just enough for it too bend in with impact as I race and haven't had 1 acerbic plastic snap get warped or anything they do get the fade color when bent so many times in crashes but I think acerbic is one of the better companies don't get me wrong UFO is amazing too

    you want plastics to have flex like that especially dirt bikes , there constantly hitting shit , and when u wheelie and ur back fender hits it wont break if u got flex in them like the acerbis plastics.

    • @usaoutdoorsman6559
      @usaoutdoorsman6559  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ray Eh I'd prefer to buy OEM because they are the best quality by far in my opinion. However, I wouldn't spend that kind of money for plastics, hence being happy with the plastics that feel closest to the OEM flex and quality. I'm not debating we need flex, but too much flex from being flimsy and thin leaves you with ugly discoloration where you can see creases, maybe not ugly, I'm sure some riders might like the pink crease marks from where the fender folded over. UFO's haven't cracked or snapped but have scuffs as normal and hold shape pretty well after a fall. Thanks for your comment.

    How's the white color compared to stock honda Ross white (nh196)? Does it have a blueish tint like acerbis!!

    • @usaoutdoorsman6559

      To my eyes, I didn't see a bluish tint. The white was more correct than the Acerbis red was compared to the OEM color.
