How do you find the size of this when you are out wheeling matt? I am looking into the darche equivalent for my 105series but am concerned about the length and thickness of them when in tight tracks.
Hi Matt this awning requires at least two person to install unlessyou want them attached all the time. Did you find a quick release awning bracket for this 270 degree awning? cheers mate
@@chingboie Hey, Yes it does but it's not hard to do. I have done it on my own a couple of times. I left it on most of the time and had it mounted onto 2 bolts on the top of the rack so although it needed one spanner it was really easy to fit and remove. I never fitted quick release.
G’day Matt, One more tip. Take replacement awning pole hinge inserts, can buy these online fairly cheap. A freak storm came through the blue mountains one afternoon and almost sent the awning over my truck, it was tied down! That storm came and went so fast! Anyway, one of the black plastic hinge inserts snapped. Didn’t have a spare at that time but still managed to use the awning. I always carry them now, cheap insurance and easy to replace with a basic tool set. Love my foxwing, best awning I’ve had. Good video, cheers scott
I’m surprised in this new model they’re still going with a pole bag.. they should have just replicated the Rhino rack batwing with their integrated pole system, seriously the best thing ever having everything packed up into the frame
I do all those except tip 3. If the wind gets under the awning because there wasn't enough weight in the bag and the pole falls out or moves you will break the pivot point which is a costly and nuisance repair.
That's a rad awning...👌...I have a 2.5 x 2.5 side awning but so want cover and shade at the back of the car...Might have to look into getting one...🤟...
11th tip is to drill some drain holes in the bottom of the plastic pole feet. When it rains, water can collect in the pole as it runs down and contacts the twist joint.
@@MadMatt4WD Try living in Northern Europe Matt. When you close the poles it's like a piston and the water sprays out all over the place. If it stays wet in there the poles go all white and fuzzy
Hey Matt... the bowline isn’t the best knot to use on synthetic rope. You’d be better off with a double figure 8 - just as strong, easy to tie, and your rope will last longer. Cheers!
Tip#2 - aces edit: 1 thing tho...is the awning water proof, i.e. will it keep the rain off you? Cannot find a single word confirming one way or the other on their website or in the product manual. Can you share anything?
@@MadMatt4WD I get that they are sold by an Australian company, but I want to know in which country they are made. I want to support Australian manufacturing.

I'm sorry but you miss the point completely. What tip can you give the solo traveller to stop the awning from breaking when putting it up or taking it down? Tips on how to arrange the buckles are irrelevant when the damned thing breaks.
@@defendermodsandtravels I have no idea what I'm going to be apologising for. LOL I gave you ten tips just like i said I would. We love our Foxwing awning, but I’ll now use these tips to make the use of it easier.
Great
Very handy tips Matt, thank you. Love your enthusiasm.

Thanks Matt for the tips, going to try them out tomorrow.

Hey Matt, love ya work, have you had a look at the 30 second Awning? got any thoughts on it?
Thanks mate. No i haven't.

Hey Matt I’ve picked up a foxwing just wondering if there a way to stop water coming in through the back door area? Thank you
Not that I know of. There is a rear of car cover with zips that may help. It connects to the foxwing
MadMatt 4WD thanks for a reply Matt is that the rv connector
Hey mate, just wondering what brackets you used to mount to you roof rack. Ive got a flat rack and im struggling to find brackets
Iirc they came with it or it was a fitting kit from oztent. Was some years back now and I no longer have that setup

Which country are these made in?
They’re sold by an Australian company based in Sydney.
