      I don't know! I think the televote this year was really skewed for the top 5 (+Croatia) because a lot of people really wanted Käärija to win so he got all of the televotes for all of the even remotely similar acts.

    Thank you for this, they were amazing. They loved every second of living thier dream to perform at Erurovision irrespective of the result. Now to continue with a blistering run of festivals and tour dates for the rest of the summer and beyond. LOTL have just gained more respect and fans.

      I'm so disappointed that they came last! Undeserved. Germany sends a top quality act and doesn't get anything in return. Disheartening but I loved watching their performance.

      @@lucasspace22I feel exactly the same as you. For me they were the highlight of the year. I heard of them for the first time when the shortlist for Unser Lied für Liverpool was announced & I looked at all the entrants videos. Mind blown, I watched a few more LotL videos then bought their 8 studio albums. I've become a huge fan.
      I can't get over how few points they got, it was completely underserved because they had everything for me: great music, fantastic voice, amazing stage show & they all come across as decent human beings in interviews. I know some criticised the lyrics, especially the expression "so happy we could die". I found the lyrics meaningful & that expression is one I've used many times throughout my life. I wonder if the ones criticising it are not native English speakers.

      @@angelaburrow8114 about your last point I've got no idea! I definately haven't gotten unti LotL as much as you but I've listened to a few other songs and I'm slowly dipping my toes into their discography and it does seem great so far! I think the points issue comes from a lot of people sending as many votes as possible to Käärijä to try and balance out what we knew would be a massive lead for Loreen from the juries. The solution for me would be a jury with more people of more varied music tastes, because only 3 jury points is tragic and if the juries didn't create such a massive points difference the televoters could also vote for their actual favourite, and not their favourite of the two predicted to win. But I'm so glad you've found an amazing band through ESC- definately Joker Out for me this year

      I mean I definately prefer the TV versions because there's also a lot of skill that goes into making it look really good and never boring. But I'm glad you enjoyed my crowd's perspective version. I definately wouldn't be opposed to something like this being bonus content on the official TH-cam channel.

    I wish juries had more varied taste rather than boosting ballads mostly. Metal screams are really difficult to perform with such an ease and yet they got 3 points from juries in total. I am still devasted that they were last.

    • @lucasspace22
      @lucasspace22  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I would love larger and more varied juries going forward because the juries as they are right now do have their favourites they give points to and songs that tend to be left out.

      No idea! Totally undeserved and I have no clue what Germany should do anymore. Sending one of the best, most professional points gets last place so maybe we do just need juries with a more varied music taste

      @@lucasspace22 I mean there shouldn't be a jury in the final or the jury wants to see them sing in their own language if it wasn't for the corona virus from Esc 2020 the song would have had a better ranking for Germany that year right 😊🤗❤️😍😘

    • @lucasspace22
      @lucasspace22  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marijavlg8376 I think we do need a jury because the overall quality of the songs and the reputation of eurovision has increased drastically since the 2000s when it was televote only. At the same time, I would really like to see any kind of jury reform because when everyone else got so few points because the public was trying to get Käärijä to win, that's also a problem. Sweden deserved the win because that's the system we have and she also got over 200 televote points but a reform would be in my opinion necessary

      @@lucasspace22 I like your point. If this continues, people are going to vote not for who they like, but just in spite of juries. And you know well before the grand final who the juries are going to vote for, based on the bookies odds.

      I think a lot of people who were going to vote for LotL redirected their votes to Käärijä because he was a favourite to win. They definitely didn't deserve last place though, and I'm also disappointed. I will watch next year though because Eurovision for me is way more about discovering new artists from various countries and enjoying all of Eurovision season, not just the results.

    • @sinocam
      @sinocam ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lucasspace22 actually it was the opposite. I wanted to vote for Käärja, but voted at the end for LOTL. I think when you like Popmusic it is a nice event. But for people like me it just is too mainstream. I do have to say that the staging of ESC is superb. I was more interested in the visuals than the music and I also think that this distorts a bit the true quality of the vocalist, because it is that good. When watching the pre party in amsterdam where no staging was - the vocalist themselves were not that good. So there are some issues conceptwise i have some doubts about. But that is just for me.

    • @lucasspace22
      @lucasspace22  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sinocam you're not wrong. Definately largely pop, but nowadays I think it tends to be just a little bit less than half of the songs (still lots but it's getting better). It has also kind of become Eurovision Performance Contest absolutely, but it's very entertaining and while I'd love for there to be separate Eurovisions for genres, English vs native languages, without flashy stagings, etc. I just don't think that will happen any time soon so I'll take what I can get- which is a contest I enjoy very much, maybe even moreso in the run-up to it than the night of on TV

    We Germans are nearly always at last place. Most of the Germans are not interested in this contest and every year the "not intetested" become more and more.
    We Germans should accept that we can not get manage it to get a better place.
    It would be the best if we Germans get out of the " BIG 5" so that another country has a chance to move in. We should make a brake for several years and do not take part as other countries already have done. The money for the ESC would be better used in supporting music students!
    Nevertheless if we Germans take part or not - i am never watching this contest again - lost time !!

    • @lucasspace22
      @lucasspace22  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I live in Germany and I will say most people I'm around in Hamburg do watch it every year!
      Lord of the Lost didn't deserve last place for sure though.
      The big 5 actually got started because of Germany not making it to the final in 2010 I think? Maybe a few years before then. The big 5 isn't about success but money unfortunately. It's about the host country and participating broadcasters being able to advertise to the richest countries with the biggest population in Europe that take part. So Germany wouldn't/couldn't leave the big 5 even if they left the contest. Nobody would be able to take their place, it could only be expanded to more countries.
      Regarding taking a break, I'd be sad obviously but I do think it would be the right course of action. Germany has won twice before (including once during modern Eurovision with juries and televotes) and came second in 2018, so it is possible for Germany to do well.
      2018 is the most recent time that Germany did well though, and since 2015 they have always been last or second to last. So I do agree a break could be in order. (Un)fortunately 2024 participation has already been confirmed so I can't see that happening.
      Also the person next to me was rooting hard for Germany! The flag and a black, red, yellow afro and lots of cheering. (Some people have also been saying that Germany came in 11th place in lots of countries but a theoretical 37×11th is nil points, and a theoretically 36×36th and 1×10th is 1 point, even though every country but one liked the first option better. So maybe this is all parts of the point rewarding system too).

    Its soooooo unfair, i'm German and I'm kinda getting used to receive the last place, but to be honest it is VERY political. Every fifth person in europe thinks we're Nazis bro like.. how are we even supposed to get in the top 5

    • @lucasspace22
      @lucasspace22  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It happened in 2018! I also don't know about every 5th but I come from Poland and live in Germany and can confirm there's a negative sentiment towards Germany still. Germany, or historic powers that are now Germany, have attacked Poland over and over again historically and that kind of negative bias is hard to get rid of. However I do think absolutely 100% LOTL didn't deserve last place, I think a lot of the people who would've voted for him in previous years voted for Käärijä to try and beat Loreen's jury lead and the jury doesn't appreciate this style of vocals enough, unfortunately.
