  • Building a small homemade sawmill can be pretty simple. I built this diy sawmill out of construction grade wood in a few hours and it works great. Woodworking just got a lot cheaper.

I see a lot of videos where people make things in an overly complex way. But not you. Your style is a great example of the KISS principle. Its the wise way of doing things. Brilliant.

That's what I like about you man. You make tools and jigs that don't require advanced skill to produce, but they allow you to produce advanced stuff. I have no room for a saw mill, but this is something that I could put together in a couple hours that would allow me to mill down my own stuff. Great work man!

Especially glad to hear about the toolmasters association. What a terrific way to financially support the work that you do, but also giving members something extra from the tool companies!!
    Thanks for being you!

Hey Izzy - cool project. My only suggestion, when you're cutting slabs (boards) as you were here - keep some wooden wedges/shims on hand to keep your kerf space open. I'd tap them in every couple feet on both sides of the board you're making - it keeps the pressure off the blade... I don't think kickback is a big issue with the Prezi, but it will help keep your chain a little sharper a little longer by reducing the friction/heat. WIth a gas saw mill it's s must to keep that kerf even and open - I would think the same thing here would help. Cheers!

A made one of these just using this video last weekend, and I finally got to do some milling today, and it cuts like an absolute dream. I built it entirely out of scrap wood and fasteners, and only paid for a $90 dollar corded chainsaw off Amazon. It works awesome and I'm getting some amazing lumber out of storm fall. Thanks Izzy!

You might want to try using a "rip" chain on your saw. If you have a sharpener, set it to a 90 degree angle (straight across). Your speed should pick up significantly.
Also, and old timer once taught me to always use two different species of wood when you use them to rub against each other. It turned out to be great advice. A little waxz on the mating surfaces helps a lot too.
