    Thank you so much for sharing this. My wife and I purchased 3 acres in Tennessee to begin the chapter of our lives. We were able to get the land for$8000.00 , the catch being that there were 500 lob lollie pines on the property planted for harvest.The local paper plant closed and the pile of trees we have is 60 ft long and 20ft high. I cleared the land myself with a single chain saw and a locally rented mini excavator with a thumb.We are homesteading the property like many of your videos and that's about the price range for a mill I can afford. This was most helpful keep the videos coming my man!

      Do not hire water works pressure washing . South Carolina. None of the employees could pass a drug screening if their moms life depended on it. The owner is as much a junkie as the people he employs. For residential after driveways are surfaced clean. They spray straight on the residential driveways and side walks. But for community contracts like the one for Sun City. They just surface clean. And not spray the sidewalks with “bleach, straight” after it’s surface cleaned. So it dirties sooner and they can pull more money out the contact for it. Sooner because they didn’t do it correctly or the same process at driveways and sidewalks for residential.

    We have the same identical mill on our farm. It was a little difficult getting additional blades. I ordered them from Harbor Tool and am still waiting and waiting and waiting. So I found them at Norwood Mills and bought 10 along with their sharpener. Very satisfied with them. We’re in the eastern woodlands of the USA (Ohio) so we’ve been cutting some hard wood (walnut, white and red oak, & etc) as well as poplar, sycamore, pine and a little birch. We put ours on a concrete pad and built a shed roof off our barn to provide cover. So far so good. Hope yours continues to service your needs well. 👍🇺🇸

    Great review. Just one side note, in case you need it. Bearings are stamped with numbers depicting their specifications. You can get an exact match. In case the numbers aren’t there, take the bearing to a place that specifically sells bearings. They aren’t near as pricey as the equipment manufacturer would have you believe. I have moved from one end of the country to the other, and have always found a bearing supplier within a reasonable distance. Bearings are everywhere, we use them everyday, and I have yet to find a bearing I needed which wasn’t readily available, no matter it’s application.

      I replaced a number of motors with Harbor freight Predators. Gas compressor, rototiller, log splitter, brush trimmer and here soon going to replace a honda trash pump motor. Predators are great because they are low cost and the majority of things that you or one might put it on it will not get enough hours on it to do any damage. You will have to run that motor non stop every day for a solid year to put any wear on it. Watch Project Farm and one of his videos where he tells you the best type of oil to use. The better oil you use will keep the engine running for a long long time.

    The issue I had with the track connection segment was that each side had different dimensions of where the bolt holes were. Even with shims coming out of alignment would be enviable. I ended up cutting the center braces out, bought some angle, and fabed my own tracks and that made a world of difference on how precise the lumber cuts were.

    • @integr8er66
      @integr8er66 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They must have improved their manufacturing process, my tracks were near perfect, I poured a concrete slab and used concrete anchors with washers to shim the height and I can cut a 1/16 inch thick piece of parchment 15 ft long. I am very happy with my mill, for the price. I'm sure there are better mills, but for the money this does everything I need it to do.

    Your just about the only one on youtube i actually really value the content alot. Your videos have not only inspired us to buy land and go off grid in the middle of nowhere. Some of the scariest scenerios with no one to rely on but ourselves. Its made our marriage stronger but it should be noted if you have problems in your relationship the whole adventure might just make it worse. Everyone must be on board because the romance quickly wares off. We stayed in a canvas tent for 9-10 months while building. Arrived with 4 feet of snow and powered through every obsticle that comes our way... Your the reason it was succesful. Withouth your tent video and many others, we would have chosen another route for temperary houseing which would have never worked with our land , having no where to park an rv let alond a car. We had to walk everything into the woods through the snow and shovel out a camp. It made us stronger people and our boys ever more prepared for what life throws at them. That is a great deal on that mill and I looked at them for a long time when they were $1799 at Harbor Freight. By the time I was ready to buy they were 2199. I ended up with a woodland mills 122 for about $2500 with some accessories included like a cant hook and a winch and a cover for the mill head. The WM is very similar but better construction and great reputation for product support. Love my mill but if I had a chance to pick up a HF mill for $1500 I would be all over it ! Nice score !

I've used it for years sawing beetle killed pine in Colorado and have recently moved to Missouri where I'm looking for some land with mature hardwood timber and it will be used again as soon as I can find a place and get it set up. The Woodland Mills guys have been great with customer service.

      I believe WoodLand Mills gets credit for the original design of the HF sawmill (about 2009?). They have done numerous improvements since then, tho the bed is about the same. I susect the HF supplier in China was either an early factory working for WM, or just copied the design of the earliest HM122 model. Does anyone know more?
      I had the HF sawmill for 3 years, an earlier 2013 model with the 280cc engine. I did several modifications, including bearing changes and welding up the bed. I recently bought the WoodMizer LX25 and modified it. It is more like $3500 and several months wait. If you can get the HM122 (about $2500), I think that is a good way to go since HF shows "unavailable".

    I tried this mill a few weeks ago at a friend’s place to cut even bigger pieces of wood, and it was easy and effective. We were able to disassemble it and put it into a tractor and a small skip, with a few straps before putting it from the field to the barn. Pretty straightforward process, nice cuts, easy to operate.

    Nice video, i have a small chainsaw mill that I use for cutting up the occasional logs that cross my path, but the larger chainsaw mills could be a good option for cutting and recovering those bigger logs in situ, without the need for heavy extraction equipment. That being said, the Harbour Freight mill looks like a great option for a homesteader or landowner who does a bit of milling now and then. No frills means less to go wrong. It’s a pity we don’t have an equivalent machine available in the UK, at least to my knowledge.

      Actually it took me about 8 hours to get the trailer ready, installed it on a modified Coleman pop up camper frame built into a flat bed trailer. Then it took me about 6 hours to assemble the saw and get things aligned, would have taken much less time if I had help but you make due with what you have. Actually the trailer prep was the hard part, coming up with a good system to level it out was the hard part. Suggest if you build it up on a trailer don't absolutely level it out, keep it at the edge of the bubble to the start end, that way the saw frame will always want to go to home. Also make absolutely that you stay behind the pass line of the blade and don't build in a trip hazard. Sorry the blade guard won't stop a broken blade from exiting in a dramatic manner. If you stay behind the frame you simply get the opportunity to see how far the blade went before stopping, if not staying out of the pass line have 911 on speed dial.
