Thank you for making this useful video. My cpu was over heating a lot and I wasn't able to give out my laptop for servicing. I saw this video and followed your steps and now it's working much better. Saved money and saved a trip to the service centre as well. Thanks for the video👍
Nice video with great explaination. Only thing I would add is clean the cooling fan. I could tell when seeing the cooling fan it was coated in dust. Make sure the fan and exhaust fins are clear of dust and debris to ensure proper heat exhaust.
Hi, can you give me some advice, I have the same laptop but it doesn't read my gtx 960m dedicated video card, it only reads 128 m of my graphics memory, I tried another Windows and other drivers as well, which could be the problem.
Hi, I'm having ang issue with my ROG laptop I think its the GPU its flashing blue boxes on the screen whenever I open GeForce Experience app. And when I run tests like BurninTest it detects error on the GPU.
why every time i pick up my gl552 it hangs( pressure to the hard drive ) ? can i install some flat metal surface or something under the hard drive to be used as a shield ?
I have one of these and it started freezing altogether in June of 2022 so I bought a new laptop. The old laptop can run MemTest68 forever without freezing up, but if I try to run either Windows 10 or a portable USB version of Linux, then the entire laptop freezes up. Would applying new thermal paste likely solve this freezing issue? I'd hate to have to go through all that delicate disassembly/reassembly and then find it still freezes up.
hi sir i have same laptop and it has graphic card issue if i disable the graphics card from device manager it works gud otherwise it shows bsod, what can i do kindly help even i am unable to upgrade window the blue screen always comes and windows upgrade roll back.
Hi Kevin, No, you cannot open it from the back. The motherboard on the GL552VW faces downwards and is secured with screws to the back panel. The only way to access it is by removing the keyboard. Thank you for your support to this channel.
Buy Arctic mx-4 as a kit and it will come with a plastic spatula. Also a tiny bit of iso alcohol on a qtip

Hello, It's a great video. I have the same laptop, I bought it in 2016. I don't have a problem in terms of temperature, but do you think it would be nice to replace the thermal paste and thermal pad? Also, I don't know how many mm the thermal pads are. Do you have any information?
Well thank for telling me but after opening the back, I got all the way to the step where I need to unscrew heat sink assembly but I realised that my CPUs nuts for the screw has completely come off the board! So even if apply new thermal paste there's no way to seal it tight enough for the thermal paste and heatsink to be able to do their job correctly xD Is there a way to fix it or is my laptop just dead now?
This is common issue in this model. Most of the times the nuts around GPU are coming off the motherboard and you need solder it back or replace with long screw from the other side and nuts
welp I tried resoldering it and that didn't even last year, I think I'll try your screw method now, seems like it should be way more reliable anyways, what sized screw should I use btw?
i changed the thermal paste but i used a cheap one, and cleaned the fan but my CPU is still the same with 60 C when idle and 90 to 100 C when in game. (By the way my GPU stopped working years ago, i think duo to overheating).
Dear a cube Your video explain is very good and simple enough to understand. But i have a question. After the keyboard was lifted and unscrew the 3 screw of fan cooling. Can you explain, why we can't unplug the ac, display and wifi connector? So you just make the logicboard and everythings is laying on the monitor rather than just unplug everything.
In addition, on other channels discussing this topic. Many of them commented about their laptop having a black screen after assembly. Is there any connection?
Hi Gie AR. From previous experience I have found the display and WiFi connectors and cables to be very fragile on many other laptops. Hence I tend to leave the cables plugged in where it is not necessary to be removed. That way I can ensure that the connectors are not damaged and I just need to make sure I don’t pull the board around. The black screen issue may be connected. Even if one of the pins on the display connector gets bent or has a lose contact then the display will go black. Hope this helps :) Thanks for watching the video and support
This happened with my CPU. I have got my motherboard replaced 3 times in 2 years for same issue. Now it again has happened and I suspect the same reason but the warranty is over. And I see I am not the only one running into this issue. Mine is GL552JX.

I have repaste with MX4 but when i stress it with Aidas 64 cpu reach max 95 Celsus and throotle a lot. Really this ROG need more ventilation.Later i use cool pad and heat suck which keep it at 85 Celsus when stressed with Adas 64
That’s debatable… I have been using mine for the past 6 years now and it’s been amazing. All my games… videos and all the editing is done on the unit in this video till date. It’s about how you maintain a good device made by ASUS ♥️
@@ACubeTechVideos Yes, how you maintain it. Sadly the G551vw is a plastic trash that is falling apart on its own. The screws are eating the plastic holes, the monitor cables were destroying the hinges(faulty architecture and design)...bad airflow and lack of air vents. So far only my Asus laptop failed me completely. Other brands that I own had a better quality for its price. Ofc I clean them and maintain them in good shape. I did a maintenance on the Asus when all hell broke lose...sadly I will never recommend this model to anyone.
@@tineristineris1860 I think the same thing. I added air vent under CPU fan, needed to repair screw mounts arround the GPU, now i have keyboard problems... This is last Asus i bought.

Thanks! worked really well for my 7 year old laptop. Think i can now milk another year out of it.
I wave,
Could you tell me the fabric model of this notebook?
This is very difficult to find, even with PARTNUMBER.
Thanks
4:35 I see that while unscrewing the screws from the graphic designer, three of the four handles fell off. How did you handle it, they were glued?

Hi Ercan,
Thanks for watching the video.
If your laptop is not thermal throttling then I don’t think you will need to change the thermal paste.

Can u tell me the model of your SSD, cause i want to buy (i have the same laptop)
Does the laptop have an extra mini pcie? I am planning to connect an EGPU setup through mini pcie, as my ssd slot is already used
Hi no forget that u cant out an egpu with ur ssd slot , if u want to put an egpu u have to remove the wifi card and its not pci.e its m.2 ngff
I had the same problem even the two nuts for gpu was come out

What cooling pad model did you use?
I need this motherboard!
I did this operation. but I still have a temperature of 95 degrees
Is it possible to upgrade the CPU in GL552VW i5 edition?
Hi Alex,
The CPU on these variants is embedded on the Motherboard.
Hence you would not be able to upgrade the CPU.
Video is ok, but old thermopads, and dust is not good example how to clean laptop.
noice
