Although I am not a fan of the staging, and some of the "interpretations"/changes in the directions, this is the one that has touched me the most in terms of the expressions of the 3 protagonists. So many moments brought tears to my eyes. Especially from Anne Schwanewilms! What an actor, what insight!
Yes absolutely!!! She is incredible I have only watched the first act so far. Her facial expression, body language and her singing are sooo detailed and complex, she looks so real! And the monologue :,)
I'm not an opera enthusiast but I have a strong "thing" for Der Rosenkavalier. It's the only opera I've repeatedly heard/seen along my long life so I can´t avoid seeing all the videos posted in TH-cam. This one is good, specially the 1st act. But most of the others I've seen are not so good. Goes from mediocre singing, bad acting, ridiculous sets and costumes, you name it. After seeing (heard) this version I bow to Anne Schwanewilms and specially to Anke Vondung that makes an almost perfect Octavian. But I couldn't avoid comparing this version with the Carlos Kleiber one filmed in 1994 that still win hands down! Sophie von Otter, Felicity Lott and Kurt Moll are unbeatable, the sets and the acting are magnificent and I think that we will never see nothing with this quality level in the future, if we have one. If you are interested try to find a DVD (what is that, some will ask!) or some other video/sound support with this production, You won't regret the effort.

Ich liebe ihren Octavian sooo sehr. Für mich ist sie wirklich bester Octavian. Warum kann sie so schön singen? Nur wenn sie singt, hab ich Gänsehaut.
