X-Plane is great, but it's missing a crucial feature: auto-save during flight. Often, when flying for an hour or two, the game can crash due to a power cut or PC failure. If auto-save were implemented, it would allow users to resume from where the sim or computer had shut down, rather than starting the flight from the beginning. Therefore, auto-save is a crucial feature that needs to be added to X-Plane.

I gave up on XP12 about a year ago. The software crashes were too much. All of my purchased add-on/plugins that claimed they were certified to run on it, well several don’t. If and when I give it a try again I’ll probably start with plain vanilla X-plane. Get it stable and add one add-on at a time to see how it performs. For now, I’ve been on MSFS.

helicopters have less carrying surface than fixed wing, the main rotor delivers the energy instead. Yes, they are less stabile during forward flight, because air can cross the object from all sides since there is no such flat surfaces. Only the fuselage's cross section. wind whirls can therefore push the centerline much more than with fixed wing aircraft, so the velocity vector travels quite a bit. Either planemaker seems not calculating this, or x-plane does not have a sophisticated wind model. simply pushing air stream from the front onto a cross section is probably only half the job.

Add true earth ( UK for me) and believe me it's a great training aid for VFR practise. I love it now. As a 300 hour PPL this really helps before an actual flight, with both handling the C172 and with visual Nav. practise prior to the actual route.
I am one of few who did not switch to Microsoft. Like everything except a rain effect, did not had a chance to fly into the rain yet. Before the update rain effect was awful, most of the time could not see the runway during the approach and had to switch off the weather. Hope is improved now.
Going in the right direction but scenery needs further improvement. Some of us are VFR/student pilots. My practice area has chimneys, fuel farms, water towers you won't find in x-plane. MSFS tends to have more accurate VFR scenery depending on where you fly!
I wish the OSM scenery was double the current resolution (selectable when downloading would be even better) and updated much more frequently. Bodies of water, rivers, etc. are just way off due to the low mesh resolution. My understanding is that the low resolution was picked originally due to physical media distribution. Most people download it online now, bandwidth and storage has come down in price, and computers have more power these days. The OSM data changes frequently for some areas. Would be nice to see that updated monthly or every quarter.

With you on that. The 182 for XP11 from Carenado never worked for me (no PFD or MFD hence no instruments. Was hoping Carenado would fix it for XP12 but so far no joy. I'm currently running on Fedora Linux 40 with AMD Radeon RX7600 GPU and 32 GB of RAM. I know this isn't a Laminar Flow issue, but if they could just give Carenado a nudge...
Great job and loving the fps and graphics improvements, even on really detailed airports! Awesome night lighting and weather as well. Makes it feel alot more real.
Love these new updates we are getting. Making me change from MSFS. I routinely fly both sims. Currently doing a flight to Every State using the Zibo 737-800 and the PMDG 737-800. I also love little things in this sim like the wheels still spinning after takeoff, or how every part can fail.
Awesome stuff!! Thanks for the hard work :) one small request, do you think it would ever be possible to make it possible to assign both left and right toe brakes on a single axis? I don’t always feel like pulling out rudder pedals and it would be nice to still be able to apply smooth braking using another axis. I know there is 3rd party plugins that allow for this but a native functionality would be nice
@@19Zet72 not everyone has so much time to spend switching out their whole setup so they can do a flight. If I’m busy and just wanna do a flight while I do some homework during cruise I like to keep my desk clear so I can use it for the homework, so I just use a HOTAS. I think there’s nothing wrong with that. Why should I entirely stop playing X-Plane just because I don’t want to always rearrange my desk when I have other tasks? Also this feature would be really helpful to people who don’t even have rudder pedals to begin with
Simply put, the pedals are used not only for braking but also for delicate correction of direction changes. You won't get this on one axis for both pedals at the same time. If something like this is enough for you, use the parking brake button. Alternatively, assign two buttons as left and right brake on hotas or use the keyboard.
@@19Zet72 I’m aware I won’t be able to use differential braking to make small turns while using a single axis. But that’s really not that important. Being able to have an axis for braking is not an absurd thing to ask for
When is it out of beta? It is a step in the right direction but many more peformance improvements are needed in general and more so for VR. More efficient AA is needed and better scenery. Also dynamic foveated rendering would give at least 50% fps increase in VR with eye tracking HMDs.
Congratulations, your work is incredible. Really sensational. But I would like to question something that has bothered me for years. When will we have more reliable avionics that are not from third parties? For example: I have Carenado planes with G1000 avionics that work but leave much to be desired. The system is incomplete because it lacks features. I bought it to try to better prepare myself for obtaining my type rating, but it ended up not being very useful because my focus is on the operation of the aircraft systems and avionics rather than the flight itself. Will we have, at some point, something viable for pilots to better prepare for exams?

Hello. X Plane 12 is a great flight simulator. I only have one more request: fix this error when the plane is in the middle of a cloud and from the external view I can see the nasty white-gray outlines of the plane. It has been this way since the very beginning of XP12. Other than that it's ok.
so far, my beta version shuts crashes repeatedly on my computer. Initially I assumed it was due to the aftermarketl A/C such as FF 757. But it is even crashing using the native aircraft, as well. I am downgrading back to the prior version for the near future. Hopefully, there will be a fix but for right now, I cannot enjoy any of these new features, due to my concern about the next crash.

I did the update, now my Hot Start Challenger 650 is not working.
X-Plane 12.1.0 beta -3 has been a joy to use ! I thoroughly enjoy it !!!!! Thank you for our strong work !
Nice! I love 12.1.0! Amazing job LR team
I just installed te new update and voila! My XP is unusable! I had to turn off auto ortho to get any structures at the airport. My 737 had no cockpit, just a bunch of black metal where it should be, inside and outside. What gives? How can I undo this disaster update?
Great improvements , but still no C-182. The available from X11 do not work. This plane is critical for the training of many GA pilots
0:30 wow those new graphics look amazing
Great job and loving the fps and graphics improvements, even on really detailed airports! Awesome night lighting and weather as well. Makes it feel alot more real.
Love these new updates we are getting. Making me change from MSFS. I routinely fly both sims. Currently doing a flight to Every State using the Zibo 737-800 and the PMDG 737-800. I also love little things in this sim like the wheels still spinning after takeoff, or how every part can fail.
Why is the VR performance so bad?
I quit flying XPlane12 a few years ago preferring MSFS 2000. But 12.1.0 is great! Loving it!
does anyone know how to use 12.1 on steam?
What do you mean how to use it on Steam. If you have the Steam app for Windows, just log in and click Play when you go to X-Plane 12
You need to activate the public beta in Steam's properties (right click on your game).
Its joke? If you are lazy please dont fly.
Being able to have an axis for braking is not an absurd thing to ask for
@@19Zet72 god stop being such a massive loser
When is it out of beta? It is a step in the right direction but many more peformance improvements are needed in general and more so for VR. More efficient AA is needed and better scenery. Also dynamic foveated rendering would give at least 50% fps increase in VR with eye tracking HMDs.
You could always make a regular version of the Super Cub if you don't like big engines and bush wheels.
I have to say, MSFS might have a visual lead, but Xplane's physics and replay system is decades ahead of MSFS
When are you getting rid of those ridiculous tree reflections along water edges?
Looks good, nice enhancements!
microft: " We make a sim".
Xplane:"We make a sim because we actually fly aircraft and know whats important, and not just eye candy".
They don’t just focus on eye candy, 2024 kinda proves that.
I always thought you got the long end of it - I still belives
I tried the beta and it was pretty choppy. Hope that is sorted before release.
Excellent work Austin 👏
X-Plane 12 has been dope around this time, i haven't played in a minute like MSFS.

When can we get satelite data for Xplane so we can have a more realistic looking world ?
It's hard to go back to XP after getting used to MSFS graphics but I have to say I really do miss the authentic feel of the XP flight dynamics. Additionally, I really respect Austin's determination to continually update the sim and progress towards the most realistic representation of flight possible. It's been since the launch of 12 that I've used it but I think it's time I give it another go.😁 Keep it up Austin!
If you get used to xplane physics you would find it hard to go to nsfd
Msfs
harbor freight flight bag goes crazy
12.1.0 is great. XP has always been. Love it and Thank you. User since XP10
Hello. X Plane 12 is a great flight simulator. I only have one more request: fix this error when the plane is in the middle of a cloud and from the external view I can see the nasty white-gray outlines of the plane. It has been this way since the very beginning of XP12. Other than that it's ok.
When can we use 100% of Honeywell suite with Mac ?
so far, my beta version shuts crashes repeatedly on my computer.
Thanks!! X Plane is the BEST Flight SIm out there. Hands down. Thank you for all your hard work into it making it better.
I wish there was a discount for trading up from version 11. Or 10, which I also paid full price. Hoping for a Steam deal eventually….
Nice update. Love xplane
It will be nice if rain affect visibility as well!!!!
There is no improvement to the flight model in 12.1?
Nah.. that's all planned for 12.20.
@@austinmeyer Excellent . That's what I wanted to see, constant advances in the flight model. I hope you make a video explaining these improvements, they are very informative and entertaining to watch.
Wehn will xplane mobile update Austin?
Did Austin put autopilot on?
in the next update they should fix the lag when using a trackpad
X-Plane suppports VR right? thanks
Fantastico Austin, grazie!
Excellent Thank you. It look and act amazing.
Rockin’ it as always sir!
Sounds like a great update!
Please add a "Remove AI ground traffic" for airports, it just break my performance!
Wait you can just set the number of other airplanes to 0 in the other aircraft setup in the main flight setup widow... just set them to 0 for max perf, no other planes in the way.. its right where you set the weather choose your plane and stuff.
Better weather is what we’ve been waiting for.
Next, it is time to what FS2020 misses but P3D has - the weather control and depict SDK to make a bit more realistic weather radars we can fully rely on, just like in the real world.
I’m proud of you announced that on forums, looking forward for this.
as a flightsim enthusiast, x-plane is my favorite sim but there is a problem for me. I am an amd user both cpu and gpu (ryzen 7 5800x - Radeon 6800 Nitro ) no matter what i do (either low or high settinngs) ; couldn't get smooth performance and this makes me sad. (with these hardware performance is very good on other sims. smooth and high fps)
I love this guy!!!!!! Austin, you are the best!!!!
dude ikr ☺. X-Plane wouldn't have existed without him imho
