While MSFS wipes the floor overall graphically, I actually slightly prefer X-Plane 12's colours. It's kind of hard to explain, but I find that MSFS seems to have this artificial warmth to it that looks a bit yellow, like faint yellow haze. Other than that though, MSFS looks miles better overall.
you can tweak the colors and atmosphere in msfs. however MSFS is far better than xplane in any way. in physics and scenery, and also the whole quality of the aircraft. you should never look back at xplane. delete it, and forget about it.
@@faziolifairmont8125 Thanks for the tip! I'll look into tweaking the colour to make it look more natural. I don't intend to move to X-Plane. The colour thing is just one small annoyance, not enough to make me move away from MSFS.

I own both sims, and I must say msfs looks better overall but the performance is much worse then xplane 12, and with a 1660ti and 7th gen intel core, I cant run the pmdg 777-300 more then 24 fps on medium settings. I believe that msfs aircraft developers focus more on detail more then optimization AND detail which toliss, zibo and flightfactor does beautifully. Its mostly just preference though

In order for X-Plane 12 to compare graphics wise to MSFS you need mods like SimHeaven (roads and trees), VisualXP (better lighting, shaders, and clouds), and AutoOrtho (satellite image textures). All of these pair well together to make it look very nice :)

To me, XPlane has a better flying feel, better camera options and movement, it has replay (if MSFS has it, I haven't found it, and still because of the lack of camera options/controls it'll still be worse) and sound. Graphics is a bit here and there, but overall MSFS wins by a long shot for having actual cities from bing(booo) maps
I will say this. X plane at night is unmatched. Honestly it looks amazing

You cant make such a claim. Both simulators need payware aircraft for them to remotely feel realistic. For example real airbus captains have said that the fenix A320 handles exactly like the real aircraft or the PMDG 737-8. For xplane it is the zibo 737 and the toliss a320

What I noticed is that the xplane 12 md 82 textures look much worse than any other plane in the sim
Aaron when you want to use replay after a flight that is longer that 10-15 minutes use the fast rewind as it doesn't break it
There are Eng and wing sparks works best at night time
Aaron rehins there is a combat mode where fighter jets try to shoot you down its pretty fun you should try it also you can install mods for realistic crash physics too.

I dont think that the environment graphics are most important in a flight sim. i use both ms and x-plane. Usually i prefer x-plane.

For replay mode wait 10-15 full seconds. Usually that will prevent it from crashing. It's been bugged since day 1 though.
Replay crashes seem to be fixed with the new 12.1. Previously I had quite a few crashes.
XP12's replay mode is miles better than XP11's. When I upgraded to XP12 I was astonished at the fact how seeking to a previous moment of the flight didn't take 5-10 business days to do.
2:20 You can go into settings and adjust your maximum FOV, that way you can zoom out a lot more

Biggest thing I’ve noticed besides the flight models, is that X-plane is FAR more detailed in aircraft and scenery than MSF. Sure it’ll have actual bing maps data but xplane having actually detailed landmarks will always be a win vs random lumpy building #23

I play mostly play MSF2020 but I’ve gotta admit, accurately positioned airfields and landmarks is much more important than flashy colors. Perhaps I’m biased bc I did ground school on xplane 11.
@@F-18Super to be fair when it comes to a flight simulator, you're going to be too high up for the buildings to actually matter much. like sure, up close they're cursed, but like flying over them like most of the time they just kinda look like buildings.

Xplane will always have the better physics Microsoft flight sim will always have the best graphics I personally choose physics and xplane but both games can be great it just depends on what you are looking for.

Xplane is not about the graphics...it is about experimentation and hyper realism. You can fly on mars, fly in orbit, fly helps or fixed wing, build rocket cars...when you rip off a wing in xplane, you ride it to the ground. I have even had piston engines separate from plane in flight.
Welcome to X-Plane! Most of the default aircraft in X-Plane aren't the greatest, so you should totally download the Zibo 737-800 (study-level and free) if you'd like something close to the PMDG 737-800.

@@nonamebyprogram there is a slight difference between accurate and study level. for example, a study level plane has ALL the switches AND circuit breakers working. the zibo doesnt have that, but its close

X-plane 12 is great. I prefer it to MSFS. The Free Zibo 737 800 is awesome. As for the scenery yes MSFS has all the eye candy but there are options to download Google maps

I had X-Plane 11 once and I enjoyed it a fair bit but then stopped playing it and now that MFS 2020 has been out for 4 years and still updating, I think it is better to try MFS 2020 than X-Plane. Plus, you have lots and lots of freeware aircraft compared to X-Plane 12.
x-plane had a lot of free planes like B737 zibo or levelup, embraer 175/195 from x-craft, A340 from x-works etc
I'd say that MFS 2020 is made for anyone wanting to fly over their own city in great graphics, thought, I'd say it's not as much of a flight sim than xplane12, even xp11 can hold up with the physic part and the cockpit detail, it's fonctionnality, can really be great. Due to how big the community is, gives a great number of FREEWARE AND PAYWARE addons for players to install. While MFS2020, its mostly payware and quite a number of it arent good and way overpriced, like freeware xplane addons work better than some from mfs as just mentioned. I still play xp11 to this day, does help with some addons but I'd still siggest X-Plane. Less chances for your none Nasa pc to blow up. 😂
So, you said that the physics of msfs and Xplane are the same. They are not. I have both sims, and I’m familiar with each and I can tell you the physics in Xplane are miles better. You can feel the weight of the aircraft when you are flying it in Xplane 12. Aircraft feel more like the real ones. Not to mention there is a professional Xplane version used in training. Yes, in graphics msfs wins, but if you are talking about flight model or physics, Xplane wins easy. Even the fenix A320 doesn’t compare with the tollis a320 physics. There are also free mods like there is the Zibo 737 (which is basically pmdg quality), just like there is the fbw a320 in msfs. There is also some satellite scenery in Xplane. The streaming program is called auto ortho, or if you want to download millions of gb on your computer there is the ortho4xp. Xplane has also much more quality mods than msfs. You just have to search literally any modern aircraft and you have it. A320, A330, A340, A350, A300, A310, B737, B747(there is a -400 variant which is free for xplane12, just search sparky 747. There is a -200 and it’s payware, but it’s one of the best aircraft in Xplane. Just search felis 747), B757, B767, B777, B727, B707, MD11(which is the best md11 in any simulator, mabye even study level) MD80, Embarer and many more!
You know most of the time it's the xplane fans' fault for recommending MSFS youtuber to try xplane 12 WITHOUT installing mods and autoortho, without telling them to use Zibo mods etc. Like how are those youtubers supposed to know? 🤦♂️
@@cupofjoen I was giving him a recommendation on which mods to install for the sim to be as realistic as possible. For example, in a video he compared the pmdg 737, which is a expensive addon, with the default 737. I was just trying to give him some ideas of what mods are really good in Xplane12.

Also, in msfs, the aircraft feels light when flying. Do you think that’s realistic? Do you think the aircraft feels so light when it’s at almost full payload? The only aircraft that does not behave like that is the pmdg 777 for me.

I played X-Plane 11 for a few months while I waited for MSFS 2020 to be released but I haven't looked at it since. I'm all about the scenery, what some call a 'digital tourist', so the fakeness of x-plane buildings etc doesn't do it for me. I haven't tried x-plane 12 but the graphics don't look any better. MSFS 2024 is going to be amazing - X-Plane will never catch up.
the fuck you talking about, new york buildings in xplane 12 are simple modeled with no texture, most of them looks the same, while in msfs2020 there's a photogrametry

I own xp11 and xp12. I'm starting to believe that it doesn't. Xplane 12 uses blade element theory while msfs uses computational fluid dynamics for their flight model. In contrast BET have accurate simulation for the airframe but very limited while CFD have more capabilities. I have to give up on x plane 12 and give credits to Asobo.

The cockpit visuals in X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator have similar levels of detail, but the graphics in MSFS are more photorealistic. This still definitely lags behind MSFS.
If you prioritize flight analysis and real-world training, X-Plane 12 tops the list. If detailed combat aircraft are what you're after, DCS World is the sim for you.
Yet all around MSFS is still the best.

Without Mods, Xplane 12 isnt Xplane12. There are so many free mods, that makes xplane better. so, you cant really compare, oh and by the way, you are not in the beta, the beta is much faster

I had X-Plane 9 and was running it with heaps of mods, and i downloaded 5tb of HD Ortho scenery many years ago. Google ortho scenery, I favour over Bings. I know because i used to sample both.
In my opinion, X- Plane needs to fortify some type of partnership with Google to allow live streaming of ortho scenery. Then it can truly compete with MSFS. Otherwise, they are just going to get left behind in the game.
I own both sims. I gotta say I do enjoy flying on either sim. But the flight characteristics and realism all comes down to the additional bucks you spend on 3rd party top notch aircraft. I like flying A320s, so Toliss [XP] and Fenix [MS] aircraft are my latest buys.

I'm looking to buy x plane 12... my MSFS won't even launch and I've had about enough of it.... endless mandatory updates that never finish and only start over. At 0% even after updating for hours and hours.
Hoping x plane 12 will be a better alternative.
