Mahindra Electric is set to revolutionize the first and last mile connectivity option with their two new products. The company launched their new Treo electric auto which has been designed and developed in the Bangalore facility. It is the first electric auto to be powered by a lithium-ion battery. Mahindra Electric also showcased the Treo Yaari, which is an e-rickshaw for Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom Bangalore). Both vehicles boast of better build quality than the cheaper offerings and have loads of space along with plenty of smart innovations.
The all-electric Treo is India’s first Lithium-ion
Mahindra and Mahindra electric 3-wheeler range Treo and Treo Yaari is available at a starting price of ₹1.22 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi for Treo Yaari) and ₹2.44 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi for Treo). The Treo is offered in two option - the standard Treo and Treo Yaari, the three-wheeler comes in 4 trims - SFT, HRT, Yaari SFT and Yaari HRT. The SFT are the soft top models while the HRT are the hard top ones.
Treo is India’s first lithium-ion electric 3 wheeler platform that was conceptualised to cater to the needs of both individual customers and aggregators such as fleet owners and institutional buyers.
Mahindra Treo is India’s first electric three-wheeler to be powered by a lithium-ion battery and comes loaded with many segment first features. However, the biggest USP of the vehicle is the increase in customer savings thanks to its low-maintenance and running costs, with Mahindra Treo, its users will definitely earn more per kilometre when compared to a conventional three-wheeler.
The Treo is powered by a 7.47 kW Lithium-Ion battery which produces 5.4 kW of peak power and 30 Nm of peak torque and has a drive range of 170km(Certified) 130km(Real-life). The Treo Yaari range is powered by a 3.69 kW lithium-ion battery which develops 2 kW of peak power and 17.5 Nm of peak torque and has a drive range of 130km(Certified) 85km(Real-life). The more powerful battery also makes the Treo speedier at 45 kmph while the Treo Yaari can take a top-speed of 24.5 kmph.Both comes with Direct Drive transmission only.
Both Treo models are available in the industry-first hard-top variants. With the use of light-weight technologies and composite body panels, the Treo offers a driving range of about 130 km (eAuto) in a single charge. The lithium-ion battery offers more than 5 years of battery life and 3 years standard warranty. Treo has a running cost of 50 paise per km compared to ₹2 per km of traditional LPG autorickshaws and a maintenance cost of only 10 paise per km which is 1/4th of the traditional LPG autorickshaws. Treo Auto takes about 3 hours and 50 minutes for a full charge while Treo Yaari gets charges completely in 2 hours and 30 minutes. Treo platform offers in-built strong rear crash guard, reinforced chassis & space frame architecture providing additional safety to the driver as well as the passenger.
