    I'm looking forward to the pressure release repair. I picked up a used machine for cheap from someone who was moving, supposedly with a bad starter, put a new starter on, lasted about half the season, and got weak again... Very very similar characteristics so what you experience trying to start it. The only difference I think is that it's the 21 hp version of that same engine, and all the same pennys pinched at the factory.

      I’ll be starting that repair today. I decided to go within OEM camshaft which was like 80 bucks. they sell aftermarket camshafts for 30 bucks, but I wouldn’t trust it for how important this little tractor is to me. The compression release is apparently a very common failure on these engines.

    Will the gasket kit you listed work for a 19hp briggs too?

    Mine has a 115 psi compression, brand new reputable carb, replaced the head gasket, yet it actually seemed fine with no deterioration. The cylinder and piston seemed suprisingly clean, not too much carbon build up, but mine Intek motor blows white smoke like crazy. the plug is totally normal looking. I also do get some 'surge' as it runs, to which a mechanic insisted in replacing the carb. I did that, as stated. In fact, I'm on my 3rd new carb. I'm thinking valve guides or seats. Hoping to get some insight here, but ideas are appreciated.

    I have a 21hp Briggs and Stratton engine on my mower. I have to replace the head gasket on a regular basis. Get very little use between changes. Any suggestions on how to replace the gasket that will last?;
    Any suggestions are appreciated

      @@kenmoore473 Talk me through why you have to keep changing the head gasket.

    Can someone please help me? 21hp intek xrd. The intake valve oil seal won't come loose. I have not really pried or pulled on it hard but I expected it to just easily pop off. Everything else with cleaning it up and replacing the head gasket has been easy but for some reason this valve seal won't come loose. Can anybody tell me what I'm missing? It's rubber does have a split so it needs replaced.

      Just pry it off, no big deal and you will have to drive the new ones on also 😊

      @@philliphall5198 thanks it did come off but it was stubborn and then I carefully installed the new one. I was just like wth because it was stuck pretty hard. The new one also went on with a good amount of resistance. I thought it would just pretty much fall off and a new one would be a little snug again.

    I would of stuck the valves in to wire brush the head with a cup brush then lapped the valves after then put the springs on Also i use dollar store oven cleaner as a cheap degreaser

    Turned on the engine and it started blowing white smoke like crazy. Oil leaking from the exhaust. I don’t know what to do. Carb is probably flooded with oil too I just have no idea

      @@jarrodclarizio1518 Some white smoke is normal after a rebuild. Do a pressure test. Your piston rings/piston/head may be bad.

    It’s so easy to comform it with a leak down tester
    If it uses oil it the head gasket 99% of the time
    I’ve replaced close to a thousand by now 😢😢😢and a lot of camshafts
