      Imagine the youngens
Youngens: sooooo... what ure saying is she got smashed alot? Or, I mean... she believed in ... unifying? To be 1? Like... all that peaceful happy hippy Mary jan- Mary & Jesus stuff?! K got u.
Elders: as long as u got "it"

I can hardly listen to Janis without feeling emotional. My mom has always loved her, and I know one day I could very well be listening to it reminiscing about her. My sister died from years of heroin addiction like Janis did. Even looked and dressed kinda like her. And the fact that Janis robbed herself of life so young. It's hard for me not to tear up because of all these things when I listen.

I lost my first-born nephew to addiction in 1977 following an accidental overdose. He was just 19, brilliant and musically talented. My family still wonders what he might have become. I know your family mourns your sister’s lost future, as well. Janis was clearly struggling, for sure. Usually in those days,l 1960s-70s, street drugs were fairly diluted. The story was that Janis was visiting in LA and bought some unusually strong heroin that caused her to overdose. The police reports were that others in the city who passed away who had. bought their stuff from the same dealer. The whole world must wonder what Janis’ future might have been. Heaven forbid it would have included Fentanyl, that has taken so many lives!!!! I’m so sorry for your loss! ❤

A lot more great people have died doing noble deeds than consuming substances that they know is going to damage them. These are the people that we should be remembering and celebrating. If you are dumb enough to OD on drugs then maybe that's a sign. A sign that you are not really as great as you think you are. A critic once insulted Janis Joplin's singing, saying "She sounded like a freight train howling through a lonesome West Texas town at 3 a.m.".
I think it was the best compliment she ever received.

@Ned Kelly Well she did die at age 27 from a heroin overdose. A little religion in her life would have done her well.
