I'm not sure why she's been on my mind the last few days. I've been suddenly fascinated by her life, short career and beautiful music. She had so much talent.
I think she was finding her own voice. I prefer this folkie singing style to the earlier histrionics. To me, that was more showing off her pipes than really feeling into the song authentically. This is more understated but also more effective.

The most beautiful people Janis Joplin it's truly one of the most beautiful people I have ever had the privilege of listening to to me she is the epitome of strength and freedom her music is timeless and I will never get tired of listening to it I used to sing this song to my daughter when she was a baby back in the early 80s we would sit out in the field of daisies I would play my guitar and sing Janis Joplin to her it always put her to sleep and to this day and she is having a rough time even though she is in her thirties now she still calls me to have me seen Me and Bobby McGee by Janis
Two others I could think of that could push out that kind of pure unadultered energetic emotion: Tom Petty and Meatloaf. Slash and Jimmy Hendricks does (did in the case of Jimmy Hendricks) it on the guitar. Also, can't forget about Freddie Mercury!
My daughter has loved Janis since she was 5. At 7 she begged to go to a Janis Joplin concert. I had to break the news she had died even before I was born. She was inconsolable for a couple hours. Now at 22, she is a free spirit like Janis was, and can do a perfect Rendition of almost all Janis’s songs.
At 75 still believe in love and peace that was the hippie movement hope some day People understand a nam veteran listening to that music and remembering the good old days blessi ng to u all from Puerto Rico with love
If i had one use of a time machine, i'd use it to go back and hear Janis sing live again. Saw her at Monterey Pop in 1967. No one knew who she was until she sang that first note, then everyone knew who she was. Every now and then, i still think about her.
I think I was in the 6th grade when I first heard this song but it wasn’t JJ singing it, it was my older brother. We lived in foster homes and he played this all the time. He disappeared just 3 years later and hasn’t been seen since, that was in 1976. Jay we are still here.
I know nothing about playing music but I think it must be an easier tune to play because my brother, like yours, played this tune when he was young too. Good memories.

I hope that God may bless me with a love like yours again. People would say Gracie was ugly when they first saw her-but I would tell them she was the most beautiful thing I had ever known. And all this from an ugly cat who never turned away from me. If there's a heaven, I hope to see you again.
One of the GREATEST songs ever written. No one could have sung it but Janis !
Kriss Kristofferson wrote that song he's a genius
@@helenheeney2284 Yes but she's still the best person to have sung it
The story behind her version of the song makes it even more special and yes Kriss was a genius 💯
All these years later and my heart still breaks when I hear her soulful voice...
I like to think that Janis’s star burned too brightly 💫🌟.
What a legacy of music and soul she left.
It was a gift from her to help us out along on our journeys.
Thank you dear Janis, you’ll always be Pearl ❤🕊️
I'm not sure why she's been on my mind the last few days. I've been suddenly fascinated by her life, short career and beautiful music.
She had so much talent.
Her candle burned at both ends but O what a lovely light.
Kudos to Krus for writing the besr song Janis ever sang.
❤ RIP Janis Joplin & Kris Kristofferson thank you both for some fabulous music
AMAAAAAAAAAAAAZING VIDEO, JANIS STILL LIVES!!!
Am I the only guy who tears up every time he hears her voice? Seriously, EVERY TIME - still... after 50 years
I think she was finding her own voice. I prefer this folkie singing style to the earlier histrionics. To me, that was more showing off her pipes than really feeling into the song authentically. This is more understated but also more effective.
You're not alone...me too...after 35 years and forever!!
Not tears, but feel some movement in the nether regions.
Nope... I feel it
Me too david
The "good enough for me and my Bobbie McGee" part gives me chills. So glad I found this song
Maybe Janis welcomed him on the other side singing this great song, Rest In Peace Kris 💙🙏🕊️
I'm 53 and loved this song for decades; it continues to this very day to be one of my favorite songs.
Rest in peace, Chris. A legend never dies

THE QUEEN!! Undisputed to this day!! Rest easy beauty, you've helped me through this life more than you'll ever know and I'm 40yrs old now, I still love your music and listen like I did when I was 14!! ✌️
My Mom's favorite song. Listening to this always make me feel like she can see me and the kids. RIP. Love you mom
This song makes me cry every time. And its my favorite so I cry a lot. She had a way to tell a story and it travels deep.
There will never be another Janis Joplin it''s great that we still have her tones - We miss you Janis.
Amy Winehouse. Similar talent & ending.
Two others I could think of that could push out that kind of pure unadultered energetic emotion:
Tom Petty and Meatloaf. Slash and Jimmy Hendricks does (did in the case of Jimmy Hendricks) it on the guitar. Also, can't forget about Freddie Mercury!
She and Yoko Ono on the same level.
R Depagter How fantastic - good for her.... !! 😆💜
👏👏Nailed it👏👏
That's really...weird...
Wow ❤ 😢
L O V E X x X x
Does she have a TH-cam channel?

Me too bro, all the way from Australia via New Zealand, I just turned 74, still think it was one of the best
Janis was a fantastic singer ! She's a queen of voice!God bless her soul!
R.I.P Kris Kristofferson ...88.. he had a helluva ride!
what an iconic song and singer
wished she could've performed this live for many years, RIP Janis
RIP to song writer Kris Kristofferson.
If i had one use of a time machine, i'd use it to go back and hear Janis sing live again. Saw her at Monterey Pop in 1967. No one knew who she was until she sang that first note, then everyone knew who she was. Every now and then, i still think about her.
Gone but never forgotten
0:23 Love how the Drums and Bass come in
I think I was in the 6th grade when I first heard this song but it wasn’t JJ singing it, it was my older brother. We lived in foster homes and he played this all the time. He disappeared just 3 years later and hasn’t been seen since, that was in 1976. Jay we are still here.
I know nothing about playing music but I think it must be an easier tune to play because my brother, like yours, played this tune when he was young too. Good memories.
wow.. i hope you've heard from him.

No we haven’t, maybe lost forever. He was so cool to me
My all-time favorite song…..nobody sings it like she does! It’s her legacy . RIP Janice
Just lost my closest cousin, my heart😢 Trailer fire, only 61. She was my Janis, free wheeling, lovely soul! I will never be the same again 💔 😢
RIP Janis Happy bday
God given talent, unique voice, unforgettable song.
Love love love this girl. One of yhe best singer's of her time. Wish she was here. RIP SWEETIE LOVE YA. ❤❤😢😢😢😢
Janis shines on through the Ages and Years. Fantastic Video. Thanks to TH-cam, we can relive the Sixties and Seventies like through a Time Machine and thatˋs brilliant, because there is so much to reexplore from these ingenious Eras. It really touches me, that Kris Kristofferson left us, because we shared his Music and Films a lot.
