Gotta love how Crystaahhl had probably the biggest reaction despite being VERY new to the series and thus had pretty much no attachment to the wait for AAI2 to be localized compared to long time fans, all because she was THAT insane about Edgeworth.

It was frequently said "This is probably gonna be a pretty low-key Direct." What fools we were.
Even the space-fillers didn't look awful -- the Shire game is apparently the cozy game to rule them all. The Capcom Fighting Collection just casually answered a decade worth of prayers from the FGC. Ace Attorney Investigations casually translating a holy grail game. And the prime announcements were nonstop action -- Mario & Luigi, Zelda, Mario Party, Metroid Prime...
The BIGGEST turnaround in history, I will bet on that

But they already announced Mother 3 for NSO in Japan, so if it didn't happen THEN, it's not happening soon. Odds are the only chance we have of seeing it in the west is if they remake it, because then it'll be a "new" release and get the usual global launch treatment all Nintendo games get now.
@@TyrantWesker I agree. It's sad that the series is kind of stuck in rights limbo. I'm sure Nintendo would have remade it by now if they were in sole control of the IP. Itoi didn't seem to fully realize the impact Mother had on people both in Japan and around the world until a few years ago. He seems content to keep making merchandise for it, but I hope he realizes that without remakes the series will eventually fade into obscurity and new people simply won't play it. Which would be a shame.
I think even Shigesato Itoi (Mother series creator) said that Mother 3 coming to the West is Nintendo's problem.
@@tgeFallman I think by that statement he meant as a GBA game, which doesn't make sense for Nintendo to do. Again, I don't know if he realizes that new generations (including Japanese players) simply won't play the games even if they're on VC. An Earthbound remake at least (if there are really certain aspects of Mother 3 that are holding it back from being rereleased) seems like it would be a slam dunk for Nintendo. I feel like there must be something keeping them from doing it, and that something could be Itoi since he has said multiple times that he isn't interested in video games anymore. He wouldn't even have to be that involved though so idk

When I played the fans-translated version, I always thought to myself, "yep, they'll never officially release this". Well don't call me a clown but might as well call me the entire circus because I was barking when this got announced.

I don't know why one would think that from playing it. This one doesn't even have a copyright issue like the Great Ace Attorney had (which is why we got Herlock Sholmes in the official localization). I think it was simply the case that the first game didn't sell well enough over here; so they didn't bother to bring the second game here (despite being a much better game and the fan translation becoming a favorite among the Ace Attorney community)

I feel like the interwebs have forgotten this was THE most requested localization ever right after Mother 3. Pretty much anyone who was in the video game scene around in the 2010s had heard of Investigations 2 and the fan translation efforts even without being an Ace Attorney fan.

Capcom freeing MvC2 and AAI2 in the same fucking direct is still absolutely NUTS to me.
Makes sense Capcom and Nintendo work well and they know both will sell gangbusters on Switch.
Maybe it's just the AA brainrot, but I feel like this had one of the biggest reactions in the direct. Seeing so many people appreciate Ace Attorney makes me happy, this series is doing the best it's been in years. We are so back.

I have watched so many reactions towards the Direct and even with new Zelda, MvC and Metroid 4 the Ace Attorney fans seem to be the most vocal about their excitement (I am one of those excited fans)
Me, last year: Okay, I already have Ace Attorney 4-6 on my (3)DS, but if I ever want to get the Edgeworth games in Germany, I better buy them again on Switch. If we show Capcom how much we love this series, they might do an Edgeworth collection.
Me, this year: Mission completed.
(Yes, sales of the original games were really bad in Germany. We didn't even get Investigation 1. And 5 and 6 were only released in English here because they didn't think translating them was worth it. By the end of the year, the whole series will be available to be played in German)

I was thankfully home alone when I watched this direct and when I saw this I SCREAMED. I literally told my dad about how this game was never localized like a month before this direct came out. The ace attorney fandom wasn’t the same after that day
Such an good game ME2 is, loved The Inherited Turnabout so much, first time the series had me tearing up
But I do love the trend of the collection always including an bad game - First had the 2nd game, AJ had Dual Destiny which isn't that bad but it play it so safe cause fans want phoenix for some reason, and ME1 which still has the worst dragged on final case in the series -
Man, I agree, the inherited turnabout is my favourite case of the whole series, the well done past and present setting.
