And the Angels under their worst starting pitcher by the numbers (Canning) _crushed_ the Dodgers this year. Just one game, but still. Baseball has an odd sense of humor.
One other fun fact about the record clinching game vs the tigers is that Jason Bennetti was calling the game, a life long white Sox fan, and he got his contract terminated early for professionally calling out the poor performance and that the team needs to be better
jerry is also an ableist who referred to jason's taste testing ballpark food segment "disgusting" due to his (benetti's) poor motor skills from cerebral palsy. this fucking asshole sucks not only does he ruin each season, but he ruins his employees' well-being
And then the Tigers hired him as their play by play commentator this season; a season which they made the playoffs for the first time in years by, you guessed it, beating the White Sox to hand them their 121st loss. Life has a funny way of working out.

@@pwx13 Congratulations, you found the joke, he also didn't have 10,000 innings as stated in the video. Shockingly Mark Buehrle did not pitch for 45 years.
"Down goes Anderson!" I don't know the guy making that call and I don't really watch baseball (I do like videos like these, oddly enough) but I feel like that guy always wanted to call a big boxing match.
Another factor in their downfall in recent years is an unwillingness to accept analytics as the basis for decision making. The owner stated a few years ago that he didn't believe in analytics. La Russa and the regime of Williams and Hahn had the same beliefs. It does appear that the new GM is finally embracing this and now hiring people with knowledge of this. I read a quote from a player who came to the team as a free agent and was shocked to find the team had no system for getting fielders in the proper position when facing hitters and their tendencies.
Great video, explained the whole arc from WS winners to worst team in MLB history. I'm wondering if the 10,000 innings was a joke or a mistake though. I know Buehrle was an innings eater, but he's only got 3283.1 in his career. That's still impressive, seeing how today's pitchers barely throw 5 per start.
