The reports were that Jerry (our owner) WANTS to sell. Saying that he’s interested in making a deal with former A’s player Dave Stewart who is very involved in Nashville professional sports. If Reinsdorf sells to Stewart the team will likely move to Nashville. Now Jerry has talked about moving many times but backed down because he was ultimately just trying to get more funding from the city of Chicago.
One other fun fact about the record clinching game vs the tigers is that Jason Bennetti was calling the game, a life long white Sox fan, and he got his contract terminated early for professionally calling out the poor performance and that the team needs to be better

There is no doubt the 2024 White Sox are the worst team in modern history. They weren’t an expansion team. They lost a record number of series (and were swept in a record number of them.) They had losing streaks of 21, 14 and 12 games. They were 21-60 in the first half, then got *worse* at 20-61 and that’s counting an 8-6 finish by playing the lousy Angels then a Tigers’ team who didn’t care after clinching a playoff spot. Their best pitcher was 6-12, despite 200+ K’s. None of their best hitters had a WAR rating bigger than 1.4 and finally there’s this: only seven of 30 teams had 90+ wins, and four were in the NL. Chicago managed to lose 121 times in a year where baseball was thoroughly mediocre, outside of a few individual performances. They were shutout 19 times (11.7% of the time) and scored just once in 28 other games (winning once.) They scored 10 or more runs just twice. The most inept offense coupled with a weak staff, terrible bullpen, below-average fielding and of course poor fundamentals (several highlight reels attest to this) created 2024’s catastrophe. Other than a few kids doing fairly well at the end on the mound, and possibly landing some help in a Crochet trade, next year looks no better: 50 wins would be a tall order if the offense can’t improve somehow, and whoever arrives if Crochet is dealt can’t produce.
The Dodgers were like this during the 90s and 00s. They were owned by McCourt who was a massive cheapskate who ran the team like they were small market. Made the playoffs maybe 2-3 times over two decades, were never very competitive barring the 2008 and 2009 NLCS runs. And conversely, the Angels were the opposite: quite good during the 00s, now are one of the worst teams in baseball. It always comes down to bad ownership. Doesn't matter how big your city is, bad ownership will always tank it.
I'm sorry, the only thing the pirates are good at is losing. U cannot take away their 'worst team ever' title until the sox have AT LEAST 20 consecutive losing seasons. Even then they would have to have more last place finishes than the pirates which might in itself is a tall wall to climb
The notion that it's wrong to swing on 3-0 because your team has a big lead is such a mindless and ridiculous "rule" and I hope it goes out the window soon. Never in a sport being played at the highest level should you ease up on your opponent. It's a discredit to the game and the fans. I've seen so many big leads disappear in baseball over the years, and I can't understand why anyone would think a lead is ever safe, especially in this era of powerful offensive lineups. Anyone who thinks you should show the other team mercy doesn't belong in the sport. And if the opposing coach or players have an issue with it, tell them to pull their players off the field and forfeit if they really think the game is over.
It’s rough being a Sox fan. Everywhere you go in America, you run into Cub fans. There’s very few of us. Not to mention the fact that we are, statistically, the worst team ever. I’m praying they get sold to owners who care.
Depends on how you define things. If you are talking lifetime franchise records, the Phillies have lost more games than any other team. The 2024 record is the worst in the modern era strictly in terms of losses, but it's not the worst in terms of win percentage, and there were worse teams both in terms of losses and win percentage in the 19th century.
Let me clarify it, they stopped being the white Sox for a lil minute. They're now the White SUX. And to think, as a young dude, initially I'd go to the games with my Ole Man and brother and sister. We could hear the fireworks goin off for home runs hit as well as the selected nights for them As I got older, my buddies and I would walk to games from time to time. I said all that to say, it does seem like they like finishing in 2nd place. For many years, they would throughout the last several decades league realignment included Personally, all sports nowadays are completely NOT interesting to digest, being completely honest. I ended playing semi-pro in 2009, and I'd rather go to the park to watch those dudes. Things gotta and must change, but, it should be for better, ya think. They've HORRIBLY REGRESSED to this $h1t, 😕 Maybe a change of scenery would be good for them, with a more youthful owner, who knows. This was a fairly decent video, I realize everything couldn't be mentioned. Good job
Jerry Reinsdorf isn't just a blight on the Sox. He's a blight on SPORTS. He owns the Bulls as well. I'll admit he had enough sense to not ruin a dream team he had that got him six titles in the '90s. After that, though? Absolute mediocrity. They were barely making the playoffs or not making it at all, in a league where 16 of the 30 teams make it each year. He's done nothing to turn it around, and seems to have no plans to. He's perfectly happy with his teams being mediocre and collecting money for him. Nothing's going to change until he doesn't own the teams anymore. Given he's 88 years old, though...Odds are it won't be much longer before a change in ownership happens.
The Bulls might be the ultimate fluke franchise. They were bad before Jordan, bad after Jordan. They won six titles which is great, but that's it. They literally were ONLY good during that 90s dynasty. This is why I probably wouldn't even consider them a top 5 franchise in the NBA, because they have never demonstrated any kind of sustained success, compared to teams like the Celtics, Lakers, even the Spurs (at least until recently). What it all comes down to is bad ownership. And things can be turned around. Look how quickly the Orioles improved with new ownership. So there is always hope for the White Sox if they can get a new owner who actually cares about making a competitive team.
I just read that the Dodgers will give a World Series ring and full share of the monetary bonus to Miguel Vargas. I'm happy to hear that, because the day before the trade deadline at the end of July the poor bastard Vargas was traded from LA, the best team in the league, to a Chicago White Sox team that wasn't just the worst in the league, but would end up as the biggeet loosers in baseball history. I understand why the Dodgers made the trade and hopefully Vargas does too, but nevertheless, it must have been an unbelievably shitty feeling to watch the team you'd spent most of the season with win a championship in without you. So hopefully getting a ring and credit for the contributions he made to the team for the majority of the season makes the situation a little less terrible for Vargas. Unfortunately for him though, he's still on the White Sox.
And then we had the opposite: Kopech going from the White Sox to the Dodgers. It's good that Vargas will get a ring. I think generally, most teams will give a ring to anyone who was on the roster at some point during the season. Although sometimes the ring they get won't be as elaborate, and it's never a sure thing to begin with.
The 2024 Chicago White Sox were not "the worst team in MLB history". They are the worst team in the era of a 162 game schedule. But they are not in MLB history. The 1916 Philadelphia A's were 36-117 for a .235 winning percentage. The 2024 Sox had a .253 winning percentage.
If I was GM I'd have the team make a youtube, start a weekly, well-shot "reality" series focusing on the teams hard as FUCK work, collaboration and growth in the off season - highlighting different team building techniques, health and fitness programs, practice content etc. Take a look at the content Bauer has been putting out and how it naturally highlights his team mates at the Diablos, builds interest, endears the players more than ever to the fans and put their money where their mouth is.
This is the embodiment, of Chicago sports! It's one of the reasons that Chicago sports, no longer interests me and why I have finally stopped caring. The Bulls, stink. The Sox, stink, The Cubs, can suck it! The Bears, who has cared since 1985? The Blackhawks, didn't have a problem with a predator in their organization, and they can burn in Hell right along side him! They can keep their overpriced tickets and their overpriced parking! Sports, used to be about entertainment. Now that gambling has permeated every aspect of pro sports, you can keep your filthy habits away from me! The future is moving in the direction of every game in every sport being pay-per-view, I'm not paying for the privilege of being preached at, while watching a sub-par version of something that used to be fun!
Modern history yes all MLB history which starts in 1876 not 1901 no the 1899 Cleveland spiders are the worst team in MLB history they lost 134 games and won only 20
The 1899 Spiders only won two consecutive games three times. They were drawing such pitiful crowds to League Park that they played the second half of the season on the road.
It was all deliberate, though. The Spiders were owned by the same owners that owned the Perfectos (the modern day Cardinals). As the name suggested, ownership was purposefully moving the best players on the Spiders to the Perfectos, and the bad players back to the Spiders. So the losses naturally piled up, and since back then the majority of revenue came from actual tickets, other teams refused to play at the Spiders' stadium. So the Spiders effectively became a traveling team. They were almost like the Washington Generals, in the sense ownership had no intention of making them good. The following year, it was made illegal to own more than one MLB team. This was done to prevent another Spiders situation.
@@KNS1996DFS I wasn't disputing that. I was providing context for why they were so bad. Frankly, because it was basically a giant scam, I can almost forgive it. Compared to a team like the 2003 Tigers that had no such excuse, they were just bad. The Spiders were not trying to be good, that's the difference.
What has been a black cloud hanging over the White Sox's long history has been two things: 1) Cheap ownership. 2) Threatening to move the franchise. I hate to say it, but maybe the White Sox would be better off getting new ownership that will be willing to spend and develop quality talent and move them out of Chicago (maybe to Nashville). It'll probably end the cycle of nonsense and mediocrity once and for all.
Fair or not Reinsdorf has a reputation of being more anti-union than the other owners. Makes players/agents not want to deal with him. Not sure what cheese he gets from the other owners for being more anti-union than them.
Honestly I think the Angels being swept by a team that had 120 losses at the time is more embarrassing

Basically, LaRussa was long past his prime as a manager and hadn't even been in baseball for a while upon being hired.
2008 to 2010 era kind of killed the Chisox
I mean I didn't help that 3B Joe Crede signing with Minnesota
SP Freddy Garcia signed with Philly
CF Ken Griffey Jr signed with Seattle
SS Orlando Cabrera Signed Oakland
SP John Garland signed with Anaheim
Trading Ace Javier Vasquez & Boone Logan to Atlanta for not a whole lot
Trading OF/1B Nick Swisher for a mediocre 3B Wilson Betemit and two relief pitchers that never amount to anything
trading Jim Thome to LA for practically nothing
trading Brian Anderson to Boston for a mediocre OF/1B Mark Kotsay
And then you get to that disaster of a trade that you sent 3B Josh Fields and 2B Chris Getz to Kansas city for UT Mark Teahen and let's come out and say it it really didn't work
I mean you did get Jake Peavy from San Diego and Juan Pierre from LA which weren't bad moves but at the same time it really didn't help the team compete for anything
I thought Tony LaRussa said that Yermin was in trouble because he ignored an order to take, not just because he swung 3-0. I say let him swing, but if he was told not to and still did, that’s different.
Good video, like always
he hadn't communicated to yermin properly. he was trying to yell from the dugout like some drunk dad at a little league game.
@@snowberrysalad Ah, got yah! Thanks for the info. In that case, that’s La Russa’s fault.
I’m sorry for the late reply, I don’t get notifications when people reply to me.
Of all the faults listed in this video, LaRussa messing with Yermin's mind when he was lights out is the worst. 😑
the ws out here getting compared to llws and high level travel ball teams
Sounding like the Jimmyhighroller of baseball
They were shutout 19 times (11.7% of the time) and scored just once in 28 other games (winning once.)
They scored 10 or more runs just twice.
5:10 bassit and semien helped beat the white sox in the 2020 wild card
Do the angels next please.
It's amazing that Chicago is such a massive sports city and yet basically every single team in the city is utterly incompetently
The Cubs are alright
The Dodgers were like this during the 90s and 00s. They were owned by McCourt who was a massive cheapskate who ran the team like they were small market. Made the playoffs maybe 2-3 times over two decades, were never very competitive barring the 2008 and 2009 NLCS runs.
And conversely, the Angels were the opposite: quite good during the 00s, now are one of the worst teams in baseball. It always comes down to bad ownership. Doesn't matter how big your city is, bad ownership will always tank it.
That's the 1962 Mets who had 120 losses😜🙄
To be fair, if they had known Tatis was going to get on steroids they probably would have kept him.
Bryce Harper wanted to be on a team exactly like the white Sox but Jerry wouldn't even entertain the idea due to being a cheapskate
Jesus loves you
DOWN GOES ANDERSON!!!
And so will Jram and the guardians soon😂
It’s rough being a Sox fan. Everywhere you go in America, you run into Cub fans. There’s very few of us. Not to mention the fact that we are, statistically, the worst team ever. I’m praying they get sold to owners who care.
Depends on how you define things. If you are talking lifetime franchise records, the Phillies have lost more games than any other team. The 2024 record is the worst in the modern era strictly in terms of losses, but it's not the worst in terms of win percentage, and there were worse teams both in terms of losses and win percentage in the 19th century.
Og's will remember when the Whitesox almost signed Manny Machado.
Let me clarify it, they stopped being the white Sox for a lil minute. They're now the White SUX.
And to think, as a young dude, initially I'd go to the games with my Ole Man and brother and sister. We could hear the fireworks goin off for home runs hit as well as the selected nights for them
As I got older, my buddies and I would walk to games from time to time. I said all that to say, it does seem like they like finishing in 2nd place. For many years, they would throughout the last several decades league realignment included
Personally, all sports nowadays are completely NOT interesting to digest, being completely honest. I ended playing semi-pro in 2009, and I'd rather go to the park to watch those dudes.
Things gotta and must change, but, it should be for better, ya think. They've HORRIBLY REGRESSED to this $h1t, 😕
Maybe a change of scenery would be good for them, with a more youthful owner, who knows. This was a fairly decent video, I realize everything couldn't be mentioned. Good job
10,000 innings?! Probably meant Batters faced but it was really funny to hear
10000 innings??
True on the last sentence
Williams should have been sacked a decade or more ago ! Always thought that guy sucked as a player and a front office twit !
Don’t remind me…
The 2024 Chicago White Sox were not "the worst team in MLB history". They are the worst team in the era of a 162 game schedule. But they are not in MLB history. The 1916 Philadelphia A's were 36-117 for a .235 winning percentage. The 2024 Sox had a .253 winning percentage.
And we can also mention the 1899 Cleveland Spiders.
The 2024 White Sox were also very slightly better than the '62 Mets in terms of win percentage.
You gotta say at least this team did losing right.
That’s really saying something because of all the prior White Sox teams. 🤣
They’ve made the playoffs like 10 ish times in their 120+ year history 😂
We Just Witnessed the Worst MLB Team of All-Time...
Nope. 1916 A's were worse.
Did u stream b4 this one? If not I should start streaming again
Why did it take 20 mins to get to why i clicked this video?..
I thought this video was about the 2024 Sox, literally two thirds of this video are filler.
The good guys
Modern history yes all MLB history which starts in 1876 not 1901 no the 1899 Cleveland spiders are the worst team in MLB history they lost 134 games and won only 20
Worst team in the World Series era
@drygnfyre Well, sure. But the fact remains that they only won twenty games.
Jesus is King
What if they never let go of Rick renteria
but hey apparently the reason no one goes to their games is the area. right guys? that makes sense
41-121 > 40-120-1, stop, PLEASE
Yes
TLR is the only reason these bums like Moncada, Eloy and Robert ever won anything
Yea because he batted for them you bum
They are the 5th worst team in history not the worst team of all time
Worst team in the World Series era
Too many Hispanics in that club
Ok trump
Cool bait bro.
