I wish the Amex Platinum also allowed for 5x on directly booked hotels or car rentals. That said, hotel credit cards (such as Amex's Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant and Hilton Honors Aspire) might fill the hotels side.

Churning gift cards for 5x, and cashing them out can result in a complete shut down of ALL open Chase accounts including any checking and savings. You would be completely disassociated, and they will totally claw back points no matter where you’ve put them. These purchases are coded. They are not stupid. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Guys, if you’re going to outline this crap, it’s best to also outline the repercussions so uneducated users don’t get any stupid ideas and ruin a positive credit relationship because they think it’s ok ….. If you’re going to be broadcasting your knowledge, be ethical. Just saying.

With the us bank real time rewards. You can redeem it and then cancel the travel purchase and the statement credit still goes through
