    One benefit to consider is the Trip Delay. A lot of other cards offer trip delay benefit, but they require that you pay the entire flight on that card. For the Reserve, you are covered by the Trip delay protection as long as you pay any part of the flight with it. For example, even if you pay $1, you will get the Travel delay protection from the card. I was able to use this benefit recently.

    My primary travel card is C1VX and CSP is secondary. For someone traveling 2-4 times a year, it works out fine. Priority pass restaurant perk is not a big deal for me.

  • @beebakos
    @beebakos หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    I’m still sticking with Sapphire Reserve because of one key difference left out of this comparison video: travel insurance. The Sapphire Reserve offers $10k per person vs Venture X’s puny $2k in the event of a trip cancellation for a covered reason. Also, you get $100k in an emergency evacuation for medical needs or transportation. I’m not even sure if Venture X offers anything for that. So if you’re looking for the best card for travel, I would still recommend Chase Sapphire Reserve over Venture X. The difference in premium is negligible when you factor in all of the insurance benefits.

    Often overlooked - the CSR, AMEX Platinum, and maybe the United Infinite card (not totally sure about that one) are the only cards I know of that have emergency evacuation/medical insurance coverage.
    That can be a huge benefit to someone who travels a lot and is looking for an alternative to annual travel insurance.
    My understanding is the main difference between the coverages between the AMEX and CSR Is that the CSR will cover you as long as you paid for some part of your travel with your card. For the AMEX, you have to pay for everything with the card for the trip to be considered covered.
    I spent about $500 on annual travel insurance last year. The coverage limits are better with the separate policy, but I may consider dropping it this year as long as I use my CSR.
    After having a bad car wreck a couple of years ago, I realized that s*it happens. Even at 45. If you are young, you may not think about it. But I don't think you want to be stuck in a hospital in a developing country.

    As someone who lives/flies out of Boston I absolutely love the CSR. Do I wish it had some better perks for the $550 I pay yearly? Of course. But for me personally, losing the restaurant/market aspect of Priority Pass makes ZERO difference as I was never using Priority Pass to visit those places anyways.
    The perks the card has is something we can't quickly forget about. This is still a great card. I will not be getting rid of it.

    • @teresawhite6142
      @teresawhite6142 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @asdf5341
      @asdf5341 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It was nice because many airports in the United States do not have Priority Pass lounges, or if they do, the lounges are usually restrictive (ie. only available certain times of the day). The restaurant offered more options, and definitely the food was better. I will be sad to loose this benefit.

    • @justsmy5677
      @justsmy5677 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I agree it is still a great card. The $300 travel rebate is a no brainer. The conversion of points to Hyatt is very nice and useful. I do use the Priority Pass lounges. I travel quite a bit and am confident that I get $250 (the balance of my annual fee) worth of value eating/drinking and taking advantage of other lounge features.
      The Amex Platinum makes it too much of a hassle to track and redeem several of the benefits. When I am busy jetting around the World with just a carry on, the last thing I want to do is a bunch of bookkeeping and digging through my credit card statement to get my $25 or $50 bucks this quarter from Amex.

    Keeping my Chase Reserve card...the other benefits far outweigh the restaurant credit. I don't own a car but I rent one nearly every month in my home town to run errands, go shopping, deliver orders from my business, etc...and the car rental insurance waiver alone saves me $50+ ($600/yr) not to mention they covered a cracked windshield damage claim that would have cost me another $100. Also the $300 annual travel credit applies to my local bus/train transit pass so even if I don't travel, I still get several months free.

    Have been planning for months on which card is right for me and I decided on the CSR because I travel for work about 3-4 times per month (domestic). More importantly the partners that CSR have, aligns with my airlines. I am new to the “game” and this would be my 2nd ever card but with an 800+ credit score I don’t have any concerns on getting approved and losing food I never had access to doesn’t effect me as much as others. *Tip: planning to apply at a branch for the card for a better SUB.

    I had a flight cancellation recently and was rebooked on a 1 stop flight instead. With CSR + authorized user, my family enjoyed free nice lounge access with nice breakfast food + meals at 2 restaurants (once at start and another at the one stop). I'm based out of Boston as well. Sad to lose the restaurant access, but honestly I'm actually willing to lose it if it takes some of the demand away from the Sapphire Lounge at Logan. I found trying to utilize the restaurant benefit was more of a chore than a reward, and I had to kind of go out of my way to maximize the benefit. With a wife and kid, and the restaurant only providing a discount for two people (myself and guest) it ended up not being a very "needed" benefit.
    My wife, daughter, and I each really, really enjoy the Sapphire lounge, and would appreciate it being just a little bit less busy at times. If this change accomplishes that, then fantastic. Especially as Chase expands the amount of lounges.

    Other cards such as Venture X and AMEX also have transfer partners, but who these partners are also plays a big part in choosing which card. The Hyatt partnership with Chase makes it a huge plus for the CSR. For me, the partners for AMEX and Venture X are not appealing (either I don't like the hotels or their rewards programs suck). That plus the 50% bonus on travel booked through the portal make it the choice for me.

    I think this card being the only one of the big 3 premium travel cards to offer Hyatt as a transfer partner is very underrated. That's really the main reason why I'm leaning towards the CSR over the Amex Platinum or Venture X. I already have an Amex Gold for more of the every day spend categories.

    I’m also based in Boston and am planning on keeping the card because of the Sapphire lounges! My family is in NYC so I purposely fly out of Terminal C via JetBlue (Logan) and back via Terminal B JetBlue (LGA) and use the Sapphire lounge both ways. I would value each lounge visit to at least $25. I go in on an empty stomach and leave fully stuffed 😂. Got a free facial from LGA recently so I might even value the LGA lounge at $50.
    But if I wasn’t based in a city or fly frequently to a city with a Sapphire Lounge I don’t think I would keep the card tbh. Those lounges are what make the $250 fee (post travel credit) worth it for me. I also have the Venture X and Amex Platinum and the Sapphire Lounges beat both of their Lounges!

      @IkaikaArnado หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I would say not. The Sapphire Reserve might be an average premium card now, but Chase's overall system still provides the best value.
      The future of the points and miles game is iffy. If Congress passes the credit card completion act the points and miles game is over like we know. Quite frankly, it'll kill travel as we know it because Airlines are dependent on the revenue they generate from credit cards.
      Also, with interest rates and inflation where they are they need to hedge risks, because delinquencies are rising thus banks don't really want to issue credit.
      The golden era of points and miles are definitely behind us and will probably not come back for a while.

      @@IkaikaArnado its true. It is average, true, but what are the alternatives? C1VX is for sure going to be devalued hard in the near future (unsustainable loss leader) and the Amex Plat is just not right for the vast majority of people, and a little annoying with credits and such for the people it is good for. I'm honestly thinking I'll ride out the Reserve and if I end up super wealthy one day I'll get the Plat or whatever similar card and just enjoy the premium service and not worry about the cash loss
