Phil Lynotts (of Thin Lizzy) Mum had a B&B, a shebeen and also ran the Whalley Pub right on the border of Moss Side and Whalley Range. The Quality Street Gang used to go for after hours after a night of grafting
and partying in the City Centre of Manchester. They used to get bevied up and have the crack and the odd scrap and that is what the song THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN is about by Thin Lizzy. They also sang about Jimmy the Weed who was one of the Enforcers of the QSG and the uncle of Ant & Chris Donnely of Gio Goi and Manchester Rave scene legends and party organisers who Dad is Arthur.

That was a cracking deal from jimmy swords. But a wise one when you think about it. Billy Hill historically said “Murder’s for mugs” it brings too much attention and it’s handy to have a pack of wolves under your control once the lines have been drawn. “Bits of work” made me laugh 😂. I was a teenager growing up in an area similar to that. We didn’t steal from the local shops either they were all known to us by name they knew our parents and we knew their kids they were friends. But we filled our pockets when we went to town 😂 get back home and fence everything safely. The idea of stealing from your own never even entered our minds. In fact we would often sell them the gear 😂. But all those little independent shops don’t exist anymore to our detriment. Your content is bang on and you convey what it’s like to be working class from the environments like Moss side, places like Canning Town where your only chance of breaking free are to act up and create opportunities for yourself. That’s what we did back then. But it’s changed, different times now. You can’t actually fart 💨 without someone recording it on something’s 🤔

You definitely get to know who’s who that way. As a doorman I never enjoyed hurting anyone and always tried to keep to reasonable force. But there’s always one and it’s never really the serious people because they reserve their wrath and rarely do anything too hideous in public. But there are those that need to make their presence felt no doubt about that generally the younger Bulls making a name for themselves. Once they’ve made their name they either do porridge or don’t get caught and thrive if the can keep themselves under control

Manchester Multi Millionaires don’t tend to get involved in street fights.
Also there were thousands of born n bread British, English indigenous Mancunians who built and worked the Manchester Docks with a lot of help from the Dutch as well as the Irish lads too.
A good angle would be to investigate the post I put about the Thin Lizzy song ‘ The Boys are back in town’ being about QSG.
It was QSG who turned them London lads around at Oxford Rd station on Manc City Centre.
