Awesome content!! Love it!! I am slackin' off. I didn't know anything about this. Here are my overclocks:
    -1660 TI (2) - I didn't see any benefit from my core clock setting of -502. Getting 31.6 to 31.8 MH/s.
-3060 TI (7) - Small change but still saved power, although the power saved varied a lot by card (0 to 10 watts). In order to keep my current hashrate of 62.4 MH/s, I put core clock at 1430 which is much higher than the range Hive suggests. Anything lower and my hashrate started to decrease. Total power saved was 16 watts or about 2%. If I lower that setting, I can get more efficient but I lose hashrate. Given my low power rate and high profitability, I am more profitable using a little more power and getting the higher hashrate.
Any free power savings is great!!! Thanks for posting this.

Interesting, it looks like they simply implemented a functionality directly from the drivers in their GUI:
    nvidia-smi --lock-gpu-clocks=
Specifies clocks as a pair (e.g. 1500,1500) that defines the range of desired locked GPU clock speed in MHz.
Setting this will supercede application clocks and take effect regardless if an app is running.
Input can also be a singular desired clock value (e.g. ).

I just set up my rig the last few days, and while I was waiting for my motherboard to arrive I inserted a 3070 into my regular pc, so I could mine in the meantime.. I played around with various miners for testing, and thought I had the clocking well set up, as phoenixminer with ethermine showed good values, but when I tried out the nicehash's OC tune, I noticed that the GPU wattage was much lower.. after going back and forth a few times, I noticed that there was a set limit of 1110 for the clock value, which with MSI afterburner or NVIDIA Inspector I could never set it to a fixed value..
Having received the motherboard by now, so I was able to set up my HiveOS rig, and I am glad that I came across this video, as while I did manage to get the OC settings quite well for my cards (similar to what I had on my PC), I was really hoping it was possible to lock the core clock somehow.. thanks a lot, as this has shaved off almost 10% of my wattage now..my Gigabyte 1660 super (Samsung memory) even went down to 65 Watts (from 80).

  • @guyb7995
    @guyb7995 3 ปีที่แล้ว

They still need to add the ability to set core voltage to a fixed mV as well, like you can in AfterBurner with a custom curve and the lock feature.
The only way I have found to get a standard MSI 3080 Trio X to 99MH/s is to set power to max (102). then set a power curve to lock the CPU at 750mV and about 1100MHz which reduces power to about 220w. Anything else and the BIOS drops the core frequency to about 800MHz and hashrate drops to about 70.

You need to try different values within the range of absolute core clock. Absolute core clock doesn't only improve the power performance but improves the hashrate too. For me 2070s need 1000 core clock. With 1400 mems and 1000 core clock I get 42.85 mh/s but with 1100 I get 42.4 mh/s. Not a huge difference but hey why not. Oddly, nicehash has had this feature for as long as iv been mining. My 2070 runs at 95watts max(its my old secondary gpu I only run to mine)
My 3070 runs 112watts but I can still drop that one.
And the girlfriends gpu a 1660 runs around 72 watts but I can still get that lower too. I had no idea bigger operations didn't have the capability.

worked fine on 1660s, same hashrate but on my 3060ti with samsung memory (mem clock 2600) it went fom 62 Mhs to 59...setting absolute 1300 while saving 20% power, maybe thats worth but I would like to see over 61 again xD

what is the setting 3060 non lhr? it shows lock core clock not absolute core clock

for some reason, absolute core clock on my gigabyte gtx 1660 supers did not lower the wattage but made them 0.5 mh/s faster lol.

My hynix vram 1660s draw 79/80 watts no matter what core clock settings I tried, offset or absolute clock, even if I set the power limit to 75w all the time. Well at least those things pump the hashrate to 31.80mh/s all the time. BTW absolute clock doesn't work with 3060ti too well, my 3060ti drop to 59mh/s while consuming 120w.

works fine thanks. 7 units 1660supers also won 95w. What is your recommendation for the 1070-1070ti-1080-1080ti. thanks

Can someone tell me which power supply should I pick for 8x 1660 super cards? 1200W would be enough, or should I go up to 1400-1600w?

why you only used -200 on 3070? Im using windows and -502 core clock 1200 mem clock and i have 61,4mhs. Im drawing 112W

What is the settings on your 1660suppers? I do your getting 30.5 hass at about 70watts.
I am getting 31.5 hass at about 100 watts. I want to lower my watt consumption.
Update: I found a way to make my 1660 supper to be at:
    31.5 MHS @ 75 watts.
    Setting: “MSI afterburner”
    Core clock: 0
    Memory clock: -502
    Power limit: 60
    Temp limit: 67
Note: 2 of my 1660 supper needs to be at a power limit of 70 to maintain the 31.5 mhs. My watts of consumed went up to 87 watts.

Looks like you put core(in 3070) more down than -200, (-400 probably, if base clock 1500 MHz). Sure it's less power, but is it save?

Just discovered this. It's insane !!! One of my 3080 is doing 96+ mh/s (I don't push it and let it at 2000mhz for memory clock) at a freaking 156W !!! Efficiency around 0.6 xD

For my rig with three 3090s, it has made very little difference whether I am using core offset or absolute core clock. (359.05 MH/s@884W with the core offset OC setting vs. 358.75 MH/s@883W with the absolute core clock OC setting)

That's incredible!! Energy savings and no drop in hash rate? Noice!! 👌🏽
I wonder what could happen to a card after running the exact same frequency for years on end. Maybe nothing, but I suppose we'll find out. Frequency is potentially destructive in very special circumstances.
You should probably baby your Nvidia cards. We may be seeing the final production of Nvidia cards that anyone will ever want to own. It should be fun to watch how stockholders react to the sales reports. Knee-capping the company's top cash cow is usually frowned upon by investors and stake holders.
