  • Thanks for clicking on my video! In this one I go over this amazing new feature in T-Rex miner that lets you lock the core clock of your GPUs to a specific frequency. This leads to much lower power consumption, in my case almost a 20% reduction in wattage without reducing hashrate. Using absolute core clock in a crypto mining software like Trex miner is a new and better way of overclocking your graphics cards that leads to much lower electricity being used which means cheaper power bills!

    To do absolute core clock in T-Rex you need to run it as admin, but you can still auto start t-rex as admin when your computer starts! Check out how here: th-cam.com/video/_bTTdKi7Lvg/w-d-xo.html

      Ok I’m back to pick your brain some more cause I’m trying to fix the issue with my 3070 FE and getting invalid shares it’s not crazy but still losing money. Is it usually just memory that effects invalid shares? or can locking the core effect it as well?

    • @SebsFinTechChannel
      @SebsFinTechChannel  3 ปีที่à¹à¸¥à¹‰à¸§

      @@Ky88431 I’d say if you’ve locked the core clock and mining Ethereum it’s probably the mem causing the invalid shares. Try lowering the mem overclock by 50 and see if you stop getting invalid shares. Good luck!

      Hey Seb, love the videos. I'm confused though: most settings for mining say -200 for core clock. Why are you setting them at +1000 or more?

    • @SebsFinTechChannel
      @SebsFinTechChannel  2 ปีที่à¹à¸¥à¹‰à¸§ +1

      @@jamesy3851 you are confusing core clock offset with absolute core clock. -200 would be an offset of -200 from the stock core frequency, 1000 would be an absolute number for the frequency, meaning 1000mhz

    That's interresting, thanks for the tutorial! I have a bunch of 3060 Ti, 3070 and one 3080 that could benefit from this. Most of the 3070s managed to get significant gains (either higher hashrate and/or lower power usage).
    RTX 3070 : I used 1070 as a baseline --lock-cclock value for all RTX 3070. After testing various numbers between 1050 and 1090, 1070 appeared to be the best on most cards with 1300 memory clock, so it should be a good starting point. My 3070 originally had a power usage between 120 and 124w. Power usage is now between 110 and 120w and the cards either maintained or increased their hashrate.
    RTX 3080 : I only have one of these, but by setting the --lock-cclock value to 1035, it did reduce its power usage by 6w (from 214w to 208w) and increased its hashrate by 0.3 MH/s.
    RTX 3060 Ti : Doesn’t work with all the 3060 Ti I have, for some reason. They ended up with either 4-5% lower hashrate or higher power usage. The same thing happened on HiveOS, so I guess there is something with the 3060 Ti that prevent them from being as efficient as a 3070. In the end, I can't get them near 62.3 MH/s with anything lower than 120w.
    I’ll monitor on my end to see if there are more invalid shares that way, but it looks promising so far. It's roughly a 4% reduction in power usage with no drawbacks (except that you now have to have admin privileges to open the miner on startup).

    Love your guides! A shortcut for setting admin is to right click on t-rex.exe - properties - compatibility - tick the "run this program as administrator" box - apply settings, and run your batch files as usual, no need to copy directory, and you don't need to run the batch file as admin, admin only matters for the main t-rex.exe :) If there is a bigger advantage to the way you do it, please let me know, otherwise hope this helps some people!

    I'm curious. I'm using Awesome Miner as I love the auto-switching capabilities and MSI Afterburner but of course that's a universal setting so my 1660S's run at +105 and +1100. If I use the Trex switches as you've shown them, is it going to fight with MSI Afterburner or will it just temporarily override the settings it supplies and use the absolute clocks instead? The idea being that while mining Ethereum, it's best to reduce your GPU clock and increase your MEM clocks but other algo's such as Alium are basically the other way around. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if I set TREX to handle the clocks while afterburner is running, is it going to more or less leave those settings in place if I switch to another algo and miner???

      Hey thanks for subscribing, happy to have you here! At 5:45 in my video you can see a list of values for different GPUs. For 1660S I’ve gotten the best result with 1050. I don’t have a 3060 but lots of people have had good results with 1500 on the lock cclock. For memory clock you’re gonna have to experiment to see what gives you the best hashrate. I have one video on overclocking a 1660s, although it’s in MSI afterburner but same process for doing it in Trex: th-cam.com/video/GCiPpnxFrOI/w-d-xo.html

      Try this. If you have a blank space in any of your folders (the path folders for t-rex.exe that you are writing in the edit) for example a folder named My Computer you have to use " " to define the path.
      Example: "E:\CUSTOMERS\MY COMPUTER\PERSONAL STUFF
      vn\t-rex.exe" -a ethash -o stratum+tcp://asia1.ethermine.org:4444 -u 0x13e8de3am5i86acf74ad080f1e77390478784fa4 -p x -w
      See there is a blank space in MY COMPUTER and PERSONAL STUFF folders so I put " in the beginning and the end of the path.
      I hope it helps. Happy mining.
