Hello creative friends. BLANK PAGE. What comes to mind? Let me know what struggles you face when trying to create. Do you have tips to share that help you start or finish that project?
I am struggling to get my TH-cam channel up running. I have had many struggles (due to the snowstorm, no internet, and a busted pipe) just trying to upload a video that I have been working on for two weeks. The struggles are real! It's getting better now. Thank God!
I’m thoroughly impressed. Can’t say enough of how seeing these creative steps has helped me. Thank you for keeping a barometer on yourself as it translated, helps us!
You’re welcome 😊 I really appreciate it. I try to only make a video as long as in needs to be. Lately I have been making longer videos as they are easier for me while I get my RA under control. But I am hoping to get back to short and concise videos soon. Thanks so much!
Love this page and all your tips are so useful! I always start with everyone else’s images in my head and then think I can’t produce anything anywhere near as good and so I feel discouraged. Seeing your straightforward, one step at a time plan is so helpful! Thank you!
Love these tips! I’ve been struggling with my current project and since art is my happy place it’s a real bummer. Going to try out these techniques and get back to art journaling!💗
Thank you for sharing Tiffany!! This turned out so beautiful!! And what a great idea to put the image on cardstock to help alleviate the anxiety of "commitment"...lol I struggle with that big time. I need to get that brayer you have... I love the size of it.
Thank you so much ... just to let you know --I’ve always wanted to be an artist but I’m not a “draw-er” ...you brave and wonderful souls ( video makers) have helped bring my inner shy creator out ... always stuck, but that’s part of the process... thank you for inspiring my healing ❤️
I can relate so much you have no idea! I always took art class in junior high and high school and love art. In high school my art teacher always gave me bad grades and told me that I wasn't trying hard enough. It really crushed my creative spirit. I was so happy when I found paper crafting and mixed media. It may not be "fine art" but it makes my creative soul so happy. I am so grateful that you shared this with me. I still struggle with those "not good enough" feelings my art teacher instilled in me. I am so happy that I can help you! I truly am. I hope you know that just because you can't draw you can create. ❤❤❤
Tiffany, your tips are just so spot on and you are such an amazing artist. I'm kinda happy to know you get stuck sometimes too! Thanks so much for sharing!
SO good, Tiffany!!! Love the concept of slapping the gesso down as being an easy first step and commitment to starting a new project. Your pages turned out phenomenally beautiful! Let’s see, one of my struggles is committing the time. Often I’ll dissuade myself from ever starting at all thinking there’s not enough time.
Oh yes! I totally get that. I hate starting a project and not being able to finish in one sitting. Thank you for stopping by and watching. I appreciate it.
I've never been doing such things, but it's still so interesting to see what all there exists (like I didn't even know for script stamps, so cool), what options there are and so on.. great video, very informative!
Wow….you really know how to break that blank canvas syndrome!! I deal with it all the time and I have an entire bedroom full of craft supplies……Thanks for your inspiration!
Hello. Yes it is a Dina Wakley journal. There is a supply list in the description. I hope that helps. Thanks so much for being here and your kind comments.
I have never tried that product you shared to put the images on the page. What is it called? Helpful video on getting started. Thanks! Oops! Never mind. I found it on your list of supplies.
Thank you. I am so scared to start my journal. I have many différents sizes and many différente media but I don’t know what to do. I’ll try a gesso and see...
I wonder if you take some paper and cut it down to atc size... add some gesso and then just try different techniques on the paper first... maybe add some splatters to one..... sprays on the another... just to get more confidence. I also have a TH-cam membership where the past few months I have been creating in my journal with new techniques and mediums. They are exclusive videos. You can take a look at it and see if it is something that interests you. bit.ly/2YVeLHt
Tiffany, your pages are beautiful. I have ordered some of the Transfer me transfers which should be coming this week. I also love the way that you spread the gesso on your pages with the brayer. Adds texture. TFS. ❤️❤️❤️
If anyone wants to know some good starting points for mixed media I love starting with either a pen or pencil sketch, blocking in with alchohal markers, then going to blend with watercolor after I finish with color pencils to add detail
I actually started to put temporary tattoos in my books once I saw those transfer sheets the first time. It bums me out the paper you can put in your laser printer make your own is so expensive
Tiffany this was a great video. Very helpful. I actually just interviewed a really awesome mixed media artist Amy Shekhter. It's Ep 03 of the podcast on my channel. Maybe I can get you on there sometime.
why the transfer sheet. invest in your own skill and created for yourself through play. These are frustrated, scrapbooking women with too many supplies that were left over from the craze.
This video was to break down a simple mixed media process to help those that want to try it and understand the layers. The transfers are just a starting point. People can use whatever they want. Some of my audience can draw, most like myself can not. I don't find joy in it. Products like these are helpful.
The idea of the transfer sheet helped me immensely. I am very new to mixed media and was struggling to find a starting point and/or the base Color for my projects but the transfer sheets I feel will help me get started. Then over time I’m sure i will find the ability & confidence to create effortlessly. Thank you for all your suggestions and for taking the time to make the fantastic informative videos to help the newbies to this intimidating (at first) art form🙂

Is it that you are not enjoying creating or how your project is turning out?
