I love the framed wings, color choice and that you took the extra steps to do a clear canopy - it definitely captures the essence of the Extra. My one critique would be that the fuz around the gear should maybe be reinforced or have a former to take the load, although your design where the legs meet at an apex is clever there will still be load on the fuz at the exits and possibly at the apex - still very clever design, my only mod will be to use aluminium bent gear with a liteply former inside the fuz where it mounts
How do you apply iron on film without warping the printed frame and does the film stick to the plastic easily?
@@flymachine The wing was laser cut balsa, not 3D printed like the fuselage.

Great looking plane and good Workmanship but would suck to crash , probably make me cry but crashing it part of the hobby just build another just such a work of art to ever have the chance of ruining in a crash.

Amazing! Very very cool! You just spray painted the balsa wood and then put the film over it? I'm biulding a plane with geodesic wing and this will for sure be transparent film, but I really would like some color over the wood too.

Hi, I'm using Cura slicer. Filament. eSUN LW. I use a 1mm nozzle. The main one is the "Spiralize Outer Contour" mode. Speed 40mm/s, nozzle temp 250 and bed 50. Bottom 0 layers.

Great and very informative like all your videos. Right now I am also using vinyl wrap in 3-D printed moulds (to make CF parts). The vinyl already has adhesive; how come you used PVC+water on the mould first? Thanks
It is not necessary to use this glue solution. It's just that if the surface is sanded, this way you get a little better adhesion

did you use the pre-foamed or the foaming LWPLA, and what was your wall thickness setting using the 1mm nozzle? thanks
Hi, I used foaming LW PLA, wall settings- spiral mode, 1mm nozzle, 245 C, speed 40mm/s, layer height 0.32mm, flow 60%, bottom 0 layers

Too heavy, even using LW filament.
So joining two printed parts together edge-to-edge with just glue is enough to keep the parts assembled? Nothing more required?

In 3D printing filament does not cost much. The roll costs EUR 35.- and it makes at least 4 EXTRA 300s

You can try, Balsa is just a wonderful material, light and at the same time still rigid. Let me know how it went

0:34 Is that an Ender 5 plus? Could you do a video about it's suitability for printing thin walled fuselages and similar objects? Due to its gantry design and Z axis screw design it looks like a great printer for these projects. However there are very few reviews of this printer on youtube.

perfect for printing RC airplanes. Large working area and good mechanics. I highly recommend
@@markoroolaid That's good to hear. Someone was telling me the 5 Plus was no good. Obviously not your experience. Did you do any mods or have to tweak the settings to get good results? I think many people would be interested in seeing an overview or review from an actual user.
Has not made any changes. I have 2 of them. I believe that the printers do not make much of a difference. The only difference is the users :);)
@@markoroolaid I'm glad to hear yours is completely standard. Yes, I'd agree to that about users to a point. Knowing what you are doing will always make a difference. But design and construction plays a role too. To me the design of this one would allow the printing of thin tall objects without the oscillation you might get with a bed slinger. Also, I suspect that the bed of the Ender 5 and 5 pro would sag after a while because the bed is only supported on one side. So that's why I'm interested in opinions about this one.

Light aircraft are very delicate and fragile. Of course, they break easily. But you have to fly in such a way that it doesn't go :)
Great job Marko! The final result is very attractive! It looks stable in flight. Do you program expo into the controls? It looked a little "twitchy" while landing. Try 40-50 percent expo on the ailerons. 😀👍
The plane itself is stable, but the turbulence and eddies between the houses are so big that it makes the flight very jumpy. One day I will go out of town, then I can also make a beautiful flying video
