Weird anti-climax at the end. I was expecting everyone to proudly reveal their bottles and receipts, seemed like they weren’t interested in participating lol
I live right next to it, and it’s the most disappointing store to go to. Readily available wines and bourbons go for 100%+ MSRP. The first time I went, they were asking $38 for a bottle of regular Makers.

As soon as you said 139 for a Redwood Empire cask strength was a decent price, I was yelling at the screen DONT DO IT. They're amazing I agree but they're 63 at Woodmans in Wisconsin right now.
$139 for the Redwood CS is double msrp. Picked one up for $69.99 the other day and have two of the three. You got the Bowman at msrp. Come visit the distillery in VA some time.
I bourbon hunted Reno this past month. You could find anything you’d want, but the mark up was steep. Total Wine was solid. My favorite place was Craft Wine and Beer. Incredible place where you can find some great under the radar gems. They also put the allocated stuff on the shelf at msrp, so if you happen to be there at the right time you’ll get something truly special.
I agree, hundred percent with your choice of John J Bowman single barrel, I would’ve picked that one as well. Very fun video to watch. Keep up the good work.
@ 15:19 pointed at Plantation Vintage rums. They come in different series with under the sea and flying with birds examples based on year release. Leave the Lagavulin & buy the Bowmore 26. Both from Islay, but the Bowmore 26 is a very rare expression - not too heavily peated but lots of sea salt & iodine
The Raley’s featured in this video is at the 2389 Wingfield Hills, Spanish Springs location, not Sparks. As for 4:00 PM today, the OFC was still there-in case you were wondering. You can get lucky anywhere, but in my opinion, the only other Raley’s worth visiting in the area would be Incline Village.
They were some sad sack viewers that turned up though... no one was interested at the end, it was like trying to get blood out of a stone for them to participate. Half of them looked a bit touched......
Raley's is a great store. Her in Northern Ca. I got an EH Taylor Single Barrel for $85. Last week, I picked up a Weller 12 for $89 at a store called Nugget. I will say, that both of these bottles were not on the shelf. Having a good relationship with the employee who manages the liquor helps in every case. I do regular grocery shopping and am always friendly. From time to time I enquire about such items. I have been fortunate that I walk in the store when they happen to have good stuff in the back for valued customers.
Yes it is allocated in certain states...fyi..in Ohio...Thats the reason why I love Ohio... msrp baby... they can't jack the prices up like most states...
A quick comment on the too many bottles problem...is there a way you could do samplers? 2-3oz pours from several bottles of one distiller or something like that. I know for me most of the bottles you buy are at or exceed my spending limit but if I could buy a sampler of an entire line it would make it easier for me to decide on what bottle Im really after.
I haven't tried any of the FRANK AUGUST but you have to look at the tag around the neck it will say small batch or what type of finish it has , some are mizunara or px brandy that I've seen so far
About those movie poster looking bourbons, the extended cut (barrel proof) is actually really good - I had some at a bottle share recently and it surprised me for an unknown brand being helmed by someone who did a lot of work in Hollywood.
Fun show, really enjoy the content! I’m in California and the Redwood Empire cask strengths here are 99.00 bucks. My store owner friend sold me all three for 52.00 bucks each:)
I just found your channel, best retail deals are always going to be Raleys on mount rose highway and in Spanish springs. I think even right now they still have last years at boss hog at retail, among many others. Pyramid is right next door basically, their selection is fantastic. Their pricing is basically just what they found on google. Also whiskey lounge is a must see too for a solid pour and huge selection. Russel is Awesome.
Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Strength Rye is readily available around the low 60’s in grocery stores even. That being said we still see them in the museums in different states from time to time for 200+ 🤯 Pretty good indicators they don’t have a pulse of current market prices.
Is any bottle a $350 bottle? Those springbanks are sitting there because the prices are all at least double what they should be. Redwood cask strength msrp is like 80 bucks.
Bought a Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye for $48 at my local store. They've since gone up by about $20 locally. Over $300 is highway robbery. They had a huge selection, but prices were too high. Paid $48 for a Baker's 7 locally and found one for $38 about an hour north that I might buy and make a trip as they have other goodies too. Caskers online has a 1996 O.F.C. for $3,862.99.
Whispering Vine is one of the only places in Reno where you can find some of these special bottles. Paying a bit more for them is fine if you are drinking for the flavor.
Grocery stores are great. Especially when they are going through product changes. They’ll just put them right to 50% off around here. Every time I go to the store, I’ll do a drive by looking for new clearance tags.
18:56 as a former cashier, I completely agree with the sentiment that I do not want to hear it again! If it was free it'd just be a give away not a store.

Hey TJ so I work at a local party store in northern Michigan called pat + Gary’s and my mom picked up a bottle after 20 years of searching. She got a bottle of old rip van winkle 10 year for 200 plus tax. Is that a good price for old rip van winkle that she’ll never open?

300 for jack is wild like you said. Im from Missouri and got the mitchers barrel proof rye for 48 dollars at a gas station. I went to Georgia for work and seen it for crazy prices like 299 and such. 😮
Video is another reminder International markets are weird. Buffalo Trace products are everywhere in the UK. Springbank meanwhile is super hard to find at MSRP. And it's just sitting on the shelf here, albeit marked up.
Excellent video as always! I’m blown away by the amount of Springbank and Kilkerran on the shelves there. I’m lucky to score a bottle of Springbank a year up here in Nova Scotia, Canada.
@Brewzle I was just looking on Raley’s website and they have the O.F.C. Priced at $2,499 which is MSRP. Just thought I would run this by you in case you’re interested. Happy Hunting

Pyramid is a whiskey museum. They have a good selection because the prices are outrageous.

I picked up my Jack Daniels Single Barrel Proof Rye at 79.99 at 139.0 Proof
i bought a couple at a ~133 proof point for $64.99 but i’d pay a little extra for the higher proof
They usually go in my town for about 65-70 bucks, the rye ones are allocated in my state though from pretty much every store that I've talked to.
135 proof for $65 in Ohio
$72 at Jack Daniel's distillery with my name on it

I bought one @ $80😢
Same, $70 here in California
Same i paid 80 in florida
70 in Ohio

Frank August is a must have. It's a bottle one should always have. It's a great balance of sweet and spicy and a good finish.
