AWESOME VIDEO!!! Possibly my favorite "hunting" video so far. As a Tennessean, I was tickled for the local courtesy you got. AND... Id be thrilled w/ a Bob Does Sports or a GOOD GOOD collab with Will. That'd be unreal. My 2-3 fave channels together... Pretty sure Joey, from BDS and Steve from GG are Whiskey fans so.... heck yeah, let's start the Whiskey/Golf collab vids, and I'd love to see Will and Brewzle swinging that D-Stick!
Just did the woodford reserve distillery tour. According to our guide the double double oak is aged an additional 9 to 12 months longer than the double Oaked in SAME barrel as the double oak
Schmoozing and acting like ya know what you're talking about goes a long way with plenty of people. Talking into a camera and mentioning you've got half a million subscribers doesn't hurt his odds either. Walking into a random store and getting an old Fitz just because you're a TH-camr is wild. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Ice wine is when the grapes freeze on the vine and then are pressed and fermented, one of the first wines I ever had was an ice wine, it is sweet but not too sweet with a smooth finish, I would love to try that bottle you got.
Niagara on the Lakes - they make it there. I've also heard of ice-wine being made from ciders that were allowed to freeze, then the frozen cask/vessel is turned upside down as the temperature is right at 32 or just below freezing... the water stays frozen, the alcohol comes out. Some call it an alternate distillation process...
I'm german, and yes, usually they do that to the Riesling variety. Ice wine is the latest harvest in the year (Spätlese), hence the grapes get a few nights (early morning hours, actually) of frost before harvesting.
When you warned about this video in the live I felt like it would have been alot worse than it was. Kudos on your transparency and leaving a lot of bottles behind.
Nice that you passed on endorsing a store pick you weren’t confident in knowing fully - shows how much Brewzle actually cares about the community and integrity!
I just did the tour at Woodford Reserve. Double double oak is not 3-4 barrels, it is just more time in the 2nd barrel than the standard double oak. Hope this provides some insight. Love your channel!
Short Mountain is grown, distilled, aged, and bottled in Woodbury, TN. It's about an hour Southeast of Nashville. I have a bottle of their wheat whiskey that's 132 proof and does not tastes like its that hot. Short Mountain started off with just moonshine and has been getting into the aged whiskey games. Other than the wheat whiskey I've only had their apply pie shine.
Southern tier is originally from Lakewood, NY south of Buffalo. Im from the area and i love seeing Southern Tier growing. You should try their pumking or warlock stout
Something happened to Pumpking 5-6 years ago. It went from divine to meh and somehow the price just about doubled. Agree Southern Tier makes a a great brew.
Next time you are in East TN, you need to head over to Red Hot Liquors in Cleveland TN (30mins north of Chattanooga). Some of best selection of store picks I have seen!
Eiswein (ice wine) is similar to a Sauternes, the most famous of which is Chateau Y'quem in Bordeaux. Whereas Sauternes is produced after a fungus, Botrytis) referred to as noble rot, attacks the fruit and removes most of the water content...intensifying the flavors, Eiswein reaches a similar state from freezing, which also concentrates the flavors. A stellar Sauternes can have a 2 minute finish which is incredible!
Hey TJ, first off, your videos are the best on TH-cam. Your presentation is spot on, and I absolutely enjoy that you do not get into the long sniffing! I have a question to you about what do you do when the cork on the bottle breaks? Can you recommend replacement corks that can fit different openings???
Ice wine is a desert wine. The grapes are harvested after the first frost and pressed, because they were on the vine for so long there's a ton of sugar built up in the grape and not much juice. So you get very little yield for the amount of grapes used. It's very sweet, but absolutely delicious.
So my dad is in town and we watched the video. "What are we doing tomorrow?" was thrown out... bourbon hunting I guess. We hit all the stores except Merchants yesterday, had a great time, we'll hit them next time in Knoxville. Live about 1 1/2 hours west. All the stores were neat and clean, staff was great. Saw some bottles I'd never seen. Was a good day hanging out. City Farms has a Woodford Baccarat in the rich uncle room, that was very cool to see.
I grew up just South of Maryville in a little town called Madisonville. One of the main reasons why you have such great liquor selections is most of the counties around Blount are dry counties. At least Liquor dry. At least that was the case 35 yrs ago. Good stuff
I used to have a bunch of contacts years ago and bought some really good stuff at MSRP or less. That was before this craze but not before Pappy took off. It was so nice being able to pick up what I wanted when I wanted it. I now barely drink anymore(or less/only kidding) but still like a taste now and then. I also used to brew beer but hardly drank it. Made lots of friends then lol
Old Dominick cast strength... batch 1 buy, batch 2 is a drain pour. I sampled it at the distillery and it was great (batch 1). Bought a bottle (batch 2) and there is an overwhelming mildew taste, even in an old fashioned. Contacted the distillery thinking I got a bad bottle. Literally ended up pouring it out. The only whiskey I have ever poured out.
It's so good, among my favorites at the moment, especially at $41.99 a bottle where I live. Going back to my local spot to grab some store pick full proof tomorrow.
