Rumors say that Kyrie Irving could be interested in leaving the Nets after the team is unwilling to give him a long term contract. Shams reports that teams interesting in Irving are the Clippers, Lakers and Knicks among others. This is a look at why Kyrie is risking everything by allowing these rumors to spread.

Woj reported the Lakers are considered the most significant threat to Kyrie staying in Brooklyn. I think he’s staying, but if both Shams and Woj have major sources of Ky possibly not staying, there’s a big possibility he’s not playing in a Nets jersey next season.

Idk if Kyrie would care about this but him leaving to play with Lebron would give his legacy a huge hit, especially if they win together. It would essentially cement Kyrie as nothing more than Lebron's side kick.

If he won another championship with Lebron. It tells me Lebron brings out the best in Kyrie. Since Kyrie left he has done nothing since he left Lebron and his getting older if Kyrie does not win another championship before he stops playing. It tells them he does not win on a different team he destroys every team he joins, and he is not good enough to push his team for a title.

Meh, Kyrie will go down as a sidekick anyways whether it's for LeBron James or Kevin Durant. Nobody talks about Kyrie before 2015 and his run with Boston was terrible so his Leader accomplishments ain't really there. He's just a really really good number 2.

Spot on for Kyrie's intentions, but a little off on the options for the Lakers. A sign and trade comes with a couple rule caveats. One is that a team receiving a player is hard capped, which means Kyrie would have to opt-in while forcing a trade. The second is that the outgoing salary for Kendrick Nunn's sign and trade can't be aggregated with other contracts to match salary (despite Trade Machine not noticing).
There's like a 90%+ chance Kyrie's staying with the Nets. I don't see Kawhi nor PG wanting to deal with him and the Knicks simply don't want him according to team sources, plus Thibs and him are gonna spar on the regular. The Lakers are the only team that would actively try for Kyrie. If it's not there, it's with Brooklyn.
Lavine also were rumoured to be interested about a trade, Lakers is his top 3 option, so imagine Lavine and Kyrie going to LA... I would get rid of AD too because he is just too injury-prone to be worth the risk of keeping him, dude got injured again in their last game of the season and he played like couple games after he got cleared from other injury... 😅

Kyrie will never go to Knicks. Maybe if he has 1 or 2 seasons before retirement,but before that-never. It's that simple. That 3 options are just availible. Stayin in Nets,or combination with Cilps or Lakers. That's it.

Kenard was the best 3 point shooter in the league last year making 44.9% of his shots. That’s a little bit more than a role player. The guy is pretty good.

How about a Kyrie + Ben for Westbrook + AD?? Who says no? KD & AD on the same team allows KD to not be the main defender on the likes of Embiid, Giannis, Bam in the playoffs, and having Ben and Kyrie to handle the ball allows Lebron to rest.

There is 0 chance outside of the Knicks anyone takes Kyrie without having good incentives. As far as the Lakers being in play, in Colin's podcast they talked about including AD and Russ. I actually think that is plausible. They need to get rid of russ and AD is injury prone and is declining. I see LeBron agreeing and many teams lining up... the pitch is "you want AD, ok take Russ with it, what's your offer?"

So, I guess you could dump salary by buying an expiring contract. But that won’t help you until the following year.
