    LeBron James just signed a 2 year max extension to remain a Laker and there’s been a lot of reaction. Some people are in favor of the deal and some aren’t but no one will admit what it means for LeBron’s mission to catch Michael Jordan. This is a look at the final phase of LeBron’s career.

    I think having no real expectations can help LA make the playoffs and be a sneaky dark horse around trade deadline for a russ trade for a team that wants to dump salary as an expiring contract to clear books and get shooting from the perimeter. Lebron should have gone to Cleveland as a free agent. Imagine him on that team. Geez nobody scores and lebron and co just wear you down on defense

      Yes agreed. His children are quite old now. It’s not like he needs to stay with his kids. But these are the last 3-4 years he can still be an impactful player and chase/surpass Michael Jordan’s status to get very close in some people. I just feel that he really didn’t think this through

But after watching these videos for a while now I’ve come to realize I really value his opinions because of the research that goes into it. I’m so used to commentary channels just going off the top of their head, saying things like “If I remember correctly he averages 30 points.” Their opinions might still be valuable but this channel has a more calculated approach to opinions which is crazy considering the consistency of uploads. Also those end of video transitions are smooth. So anyway that’s why I’m subscribing.

    1. Yeah it’s about to be 10 years since lebron won his last MVP. You have to acknowledge he was cherry picking last year to catch Kareem’s record. He even planned playing in just enough games to qualify for the scoring title but sat out when he saw he had no chance to win.
    2. I can’t believe you just called lebron running to contenders instead of grinding with one team, his “killer mentality”
    3. As long as lebron is under Jordan, his priority will always be winning. He defined his entire career by chasing jordan and 19 years in he’s still coming in short. Yeah his priority is still winning. Especially when you see he could have caught and even surpassed Jordan. That hangs over his head.
    4. Jordan did not come back to the wizards because “he loved the game” of course he loved the game but the actual reason was because the Wizards front office promised him a 20% stake of ownership. Only to have him boost their profits for two years then fire him to avoid giving him any ownership. He was tricked.

And you're telling me he sat out the 9 remaining games because he thought had "no chance" of beating Embiid for the scoring title who was ahead of him by a measly .3 point average? Well I guess if you're riding Jordan that deep, you'd be delusional enough to forget about basic math.

    Something that has to be stated - if you would've asked the Lakers' goals before the AD trade, I think their realistic hopes were winning 1 title/2 deep playoff runs - 2 titles or more would've been a huge success... And the Lakers have matched their goals - winning is the only thing that matters, The Westbrook trade was bad, but they would've lost anyway this year - probably a play-in team sneaking to lose to the Griz/suns again. AD was always an injury-prone guy, Lebron is old - this duo was good for a very short term.

    • @whobitmyname
      @whobitmyname ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't call that matching their goals. I'm pretty sure they didn't plan on one title run sandwiched in the middle of four years of mediocrity and no future until 2035.

    • @animaroku
      @animaroku ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whobitmyname they have a future because they are the freakin lakers. They won a chip because of the AD trade. Their realistic goal for this year, back when they did the trade was not to be a contender, but to consoldiate for the future. The trade was good short term and terrible long term

    • @animaroku
      @animaroku ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whobitmyname This is the Lakers, they will get superstars until 2035 - they don't need this picks as much as other teams do. If they planned for 3 championships, they should've never trade for AD/make it Lebron's team - This is practically a miracle that Lebron is playing at the level he is at right now - it is unexpected IMO. Their ceiling was 2 titles, if AD would've been healthy in 2021, they would probably win it, and that's it - it could've been a disaster like the clippers/Nets - they are the only 2019 superteam that was successful

    LBJ taking the max is the greatest indicator that winning is no longer a priority and as long as the team’s construct is suspect, excuses will arise and LBJ will be completely absolved (unfairly) of blame.

    I spent the nineties watching the Bulls dominate. For me, MJ is the best of all time when he was at his best, but he retired twice and his level dropped off. The fact that LBJ is still a top 5 player in the league today after such a long career at near MJ peak levels is unbelievable.

      He came down from the office to play because the Wizards sucked, what were you expecting?
      He was still All Star level but found himself as nearly the only scoring option, he was forcing a lot of shots because the other players weren’t stepping up.

    This whole video is just low key disrespect to Anthony Davis. Y'all remember that dude who almost won finals MVP in 2020? The guy everyone was saying is more skilled and better than Giannis? Now the guys been hurt for a while, but I think AD and Kawhi are about to put on a SHOW this year. Lakers aren't a dumpster fire yet. They've had a couple down years with injuries but I'm hopeful that this year will be a revenge tour.

    Lakers today is in a much better situation. They have superstars and hall of gamers whereas Wizards had no one. Also MJ retired for a few years before he came back.
    MJ played for lowly Wizards because of agreement to sell his minority share in exchange to play for ticket sales. Because of his playing his 10 percent share could be valued much higher. So he perhaps still had love for basketball and wanted to get the Wizards to playoffs but ultimately he played because he was to get a huge gain for his investment so that he could have enough money to buy a franchise.

    I don't think this is completely fair, it's not like Anthony Davis is some scrub. And I don't think they're done figuring out a trade for Russ. I thought he might have leveraged signing an extension to make them expedite the trade on the terms that he would like but he may also consider some of his past tactics to be a bit of a distraction for the team

    I think we are a bit over-complicating things here... LA tried to get better this offseason but couldn't by having Kyrie and getting rid of Russ. Lebron is fine playing out next season to average as many points as he can and get his alltime record... The Lakers won't be relevant and Lebron knows it... Next year's offseason is going to be loaded. Lakers can def get Kyrie by then and another max player with AD and Lebron taking a pay cut on 3 years. Last but not least, Bronnie might not be in the NBA in the next 2 years so Lebron can wait out to improve in the next 2/3 years with LA before his 'farewell' tour. Believe it or not, he can play at high level until he is prob 43-45 barring a huge injury...
