- Marvel fans were thrilled when The Avengers finally made their way to movie screens, as they never expected to see their favorite heroes team up like they do in the comic books.
Of course, not every superhero’s outfit can look exactly like it does in the comics, as some are just a bit too colorful or over-the-top, but characters like Iron Man and Spider-Man have outfits that look like they were lifted right off the page.

In Norse, Icelandic and Scandinavian culture of the past Thor was always drawn/painted/etc. to be of an average build and height, Clean shaven, Red hair wearing little to no armor, Just reg. attire of the times and regions. His hammer also looked usually unremarkable. I don't know if the image of Thor has really changed much in Norse mythology but I somehow doubt it. The telling of the events of Ragnarok through pictures also depicts Thor this way, Looking pretty much like an average dude.

Nah, the Winter Soldier costume was better, it was his "Stealth" one, it was a much darker colour which honestly looked pretty awesome in a real world scene. Most comic book costumes don't look that great real world

Yeah, the title is "How The Avengers Should Really Look", but instead we got a video that should have been titled something like "How The Avengers look in the movies compares to the comics". Personally, X-Men's Quicksilver is way better than the Avenger's Quicksilver. I know he doesn't look anything like in the comics, but somehow the MCU managed to make Quicksilver totally uninteresting.
Biggest mistake Disney Marvel made was their version of Quicksilver. Maybe we'll get some multiverse crossovers allowing the Fox Quicksilver to cross-over into the MCU.

TMF If you were responding to me, nothing. The video is called how the Avengers should really look in the movies, but the topic is more often about how the movie versions are better than the comics, and none of the examples from the comics were labeled as superior to the movie version. If you weren't responding to me, ignore the long post, but there was no indicator for who you were responding to.

I know these superheroes mostly because of movies released after 1990.

Im sorry but no, Tony's latest armor is the Model-Prime Armor mark 51. It's his most POWERFUL armor by far with all the powers and features of all his previous armors including the bleeding edge and the uber Endo-sym armor. It can do almost anything/everything and it's limits still hasn't been shown.

Angel's story arc was the best part of the apocalypse comics, and angel just felt like some tacked on pointless mutant in the movie, same with psylocke and storm. Such shitty writing and direction, if you're gonna make an xmen movie get a competent studio like marvel to handle it, Fox's adaptation is just a lazy cash grab

They also tone down their intellect in the movies. Tony Stark is much much smarter in the comics, as is Captain America (in a very different way). Comic book Cap seems like a well-read man with a firm grasp on philosophy, history and military tactics. Film Cap just wanted to be a soldier, then wanted to protect his friend. That's the whole of his character. Very sad. If you bring in DC I can complain about how every live action incarnation of Batman has been an idiot and not at all the Sherlock Holmes level genius he's supposed to be.

+Lars Erik Volden They dumb the characters down so that the PEOPLE MAKING THE FILMS can relate to the characters! Seriously, some of the worst writers are screenwriters. Some of the worst comics I've read were written by screenwriters and novelists.
There was a guy named Chuck Austen who worked in comics over a decade ago... Wrote some of the worst issues of X-Men and his stories was generally terrible. Characterization all over the place and bad plotlines.
I would generally say that the writing in superhero comics is horrible today whether we're talking DC or Marvel... The comics are NOT their focus. They don't seem to care about the quality of the comics so long as short-term sales goals are met. They've okayed all sorts of bad storylines and made changes to their universes and characters that will only hurt their brands in the long-run. Their focus is in the tie-in merchandizing and motion pictures based on the characters. Unfortunately, the comics feed the stories that get adapted BUT when all you're producing lately is crap it doesn't make for a great source of material for future adaptations.
It's even worse in the FF. Reed was one of the smartest men on the planet before the accident. Without coming out and saying it, the elasticity extends to his intellect. In the last one I saw, He had to have Vic get him into space and Suzie came up with the Unstable Molecules, Reed's signature.

I remember seeing an interview with Stan Lee explaining the grey Hulk. According to him, Hulk was supposed to be green from the get-go, but something went wrong with the printing process and he turned out grey. From what I remember, they were on a strict release of the comic, so they couldn't take the time to fix it. So a grey Hulk stuck around for a little while until they could get things fixed.

The belt in Spider-Man's outfit is probably for the web cartridges, so it makes a lot of sense. It kinda reminded me of the same version that was in the first TASM game actually.
There's another story about Black Panther's suit. The character was Jack Kirby's idea. Jack was a very well-travelled and a very open-minded artist and dared to sketch a black hero for comics. The costume was kind of similar to spiderman's - black spandex with some yellow & black stripes + red/black cape + no mask since he was a KING. But Stan Lee thought it was not a good idea to have a black super hero but Jack Kirby insisted that it's important to represent the minorities. So Stan Lee coloured the yellow stripes black (making the entire costume black) and added a mask which completely covered the character's face. Stan Lee's reasoning was - the hero will be better accepted (amongst the majority of white readers) if his skin colour didn't show in ALL the comic book panels. Needless to say Jack resisted the decision but Stan had a senior post and that's how we were given the current costume version.
If anyone knows more about this please add on.
Also I want to add that it might not seem strange to have an all-black costume now but at that time hero costumes were of bright colours usually like blue or red to make them stand out in the comic book panel. Stan Lee made the costume black to avoid the character from standing out "too much" which is why the cape was removed too. That's how the story goes...

For the most part, I think the changes made to the costumes for the movies were pretty much perfect for what they needed. Except for Captain America's costume in the avengers. Those were just adult pajamas

Most comic book character's outfits would look just plain silly if they were to wear them in a real-world environment, like that of the Avengers movies. I think the studio did the right thing in modernizing their costumes and making them blend more with reality as we know it.
Sam Wilson does have the shield now, so looper predicted the future (or caused it).

one quick note, Movie Falcon isn't a paratrooper, he's a former Pararescue Jumper. Paratroopers are army and generally do static line drops from around 1000 feet, while PJs are Air Force Special Operators who ride into battle with SEALs, Rangers, Deltas and other on helicopters, or perform HALO Jumps (20000+ Ft. of freefall) behind enemy lines to rescue downed pilots. they are often mixed together, but there is a difference between them
The fully armored Thor was introduced by Walt Simonson, I believe, in a story after the Surtur Saga, where Thor loses some of his strength and forges a magical armor for protection. The art was probably by Sal Buscema. The Movie version sems to have elements of both this design and the original Jack Kirby suit.

Iron Man's favorite power armor:Model 8, a.k.a Silver Centurion. Then, Model 13. Then, model 29 (Extremis baby!). Then, today's armor, Model 51.
QuickSilver favorite actor:Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Hulk favorite transformation: Mr Fixit. And then, Maestro.
Things I want changed in the Marvel's uniforms:
Scarlet Witch needs her head dress. Even if the colour is toned down and less protruding, it would be a solid nod to the comics.
Hawkeye's shades. Maybe his mask is a little redundant. So why not give him his purple shades.
Black Widow's functional wrist blasters. Other than a few taser shots, I don't see her current wrist blasters doing much.
Drax's colours. Drax should have a greenish tint, not grey.
Iron Man's heart reactor. It was an important part of his identity.
The Hawkeye thumbnail gave me a flashback to Berserk: Golden Age's ending.

AM I LITERALLY THE ONLY ONE that noticed Jyn Erso quoted ARC Trooper fives while they were on the cargo ship escaping the facility? She said that you shouldn't listen to orders when you know they're wrong, and fives said "I'm sorry, I can't follow orders, when I know they are wrong!"
I believe, in the movies, Falcon is ex-Para-rescue (aka "PJ") and not a paratrooper. Granted PJ's can earn their US Army Jump Wings, they're actually U.S. Air Force members.

It's this "caveman" styled iron man, as you described him, that helped inspire my character, Samuel Grant (as well as a power ranger character, Andrew Hartford, for those that know Operation Overdrive) ;-)
I quite liked the iron man suit that was made of a silver liquid metal symbiote.
Would be amazing if in a marvel movie tony managed to make a suit just like that one.
