Just because he doesn't want to be killed off doesn't mean the studio won't do it. If you keep too many of the existing chapters it will be impossible to integrate many new characters and the franchise will become stale.

Thor's new weapon was definitely CAPABLE of slaying Thanos, Thanos even admits it as he tells Thor he should have gone for his head, implying that it would have worked but Thor's need to confront him verbally before killing him left Thanos his chance to respond. I think people are overlooking how ridiculously powerful Thor is now, he was already immensely powerful (hulk level strength without accounting for mjolnir) and hid new "Stormbreaker" axe is much more powerful and allows Thor to channel that power into himself as he easily laid waste to the entire battlefield the moment he arrived and then launched that supremely overpowered weapon at Thanos' chest and it cut through him like butter, if that was a head shot Thanos would have died and the movie would have suffered.

Yeah. They both have serious guilt to live with if the other one died. If Tony dies, Steve's guilt will be not having supported Tony when he was the only one who truly worked towards keeping the Earth safe against aliens by creating Ultron. Of course it ended in failure but his intention was of course keeping life on Earth safe. If Steve dies, Tony's guilt will be not giving up his ego and supporting Cap well when he was right all along during the events of Civil War.
The way Marvel has balanced the relationship with emotional charge makes it really interesting! Each time I try to imagine the aftermath of Avengers 4, I fail to see how we get a "happy ending" out of it, unless perhaps a hero is (for instance) permanently trapped within the Soul Stone, or something of the sort. An ordinary death seems to miserable and common for the Avengers. I sort of get the feeling everything will be changed, in an irreparable way, yet with the heroes somehow still in existence. Another note - the way Tony Stark saw the brink of death in Infinity War AND the role he has had in initiating the Avengers seems to suggest his ultimate demise. With a nod back to the vision of the defeated Avengers Stark had a while back, the weight of the entire cause seems to (possibly) ultimately rest with him. I can't wait to see how this turns out next year.
If one of them does end up dead, it definitely will be a special kind. I read somewhere a rumor or a leak that Captain America fights Thanos directly using Thor's weapon which already makes him worthy and the greatest mortal in the MCU and that's probably how they'll make his death very heroic.
Gurvinder Parmar I personally don’t think Stark will be killed off. After all, Ironman is the founding of the entire MCU. Fans wouldn’t be happy if Stark was killed off in A4, plus it’s more believable that he would walk away after he and Potts has a kid.
I'm thinking that maybe Thor (If Hemsworth decides to keep carrying the hammer or Stormbreaker) might be a good add on to the Guardians of the Galaxy seeing how well his character interacted with the "rabbit" and of course Starlord as well. Similar to Iron Man being on Homecoming....

No. Thor is so ridiculously powerful at this point that fighting things not at thanos level of strength is a joke, any villain the guardians fight in vol 3 (which will probably be Adam warlock based on what directors have said) (and he is very strong) still can't match thor. Thors new weapon (which really is just ultimate mjolnir renamed to stormbreaker) overpowered the infinity gems shooting at it.

I mean clearly The Vulture from Spider-Man Homecoming was no match for Iron Man but Stark was there mainly in an advisory role. Personally I'd like to see a follow-up to Ragnarok with Hela still as either the main antagonist or in a secondary role with another bad guy or possibly have Silver Surfer and Galactus show up. Considering he hasn't been like Chris Evans who has been quoted as saying he's ready to move on, as well as RDJ somewhat hinting towards calling it quits too. But I don't think RDJ will be walking away from the house he built anytime soon...

Iron Man I think they won't kill after his near-death in Infinity War, though I do think he will retire or at the very least take a more passive position in the MCU. As for Thor... honestly, I'm not sure, but I think he will survive, perhaps look for a way to save his people or something. Half of the Asgardians are supposedly still alive, as per his admission. How? I don't know, maybe Thanos gave them a lift or allowed them to escape. Banner probably won't die, but I would hope that if he did, they would at least find a way to introduce She-Hulk first. Thor's new weapon was definitely CAPABLE of slaying Thanos, Thanos even admits it as he tells Thor he should have gone for his head, implying that it would have worked but Thor's need to confront him verbally before killing him left Thanos his chance to respond. I think people are overlooking how ridiculously powerful Thor is now, he was already immensely powerful (hulk level strength without accounting for mjolnir) and hid new "Stormbreaker" axe is much more powerful and allows Thor to channel that power into himself as he easily laid waste to the entire battlefield the moment he arrived and then launched that supremely overpowered weapon at Thanos' chest and it cut through him like butter, if that was a head shot Thanos would have died and the movie would have suffered.
Yep, Thor was definitely the key to ending the battle but unfortunately, he squandered that chance.

Yeah. They both have serious guilt to live with if the other one died. If Tony dies, Steve's guilt will be not having supported Tony when he was the only one who truly worked towards keeping the Earth safe against aliens by creating Ultron. Of course it ended in failure but his intention was of course keeping life on Earth safe. If Steve dies, Tony's guilt will be not giving up his ego and supporting Cap well when he was right all along during the events of Civil War.
The way Marvel has balanced the relationship with emotional charge makes it really interesting! Each time I try to imagine the aftermath of Avengers 4, I fail to see how we get a "happy ending" out of it, unless perhaps a hero is (for instance) permanently trapped within the Soul Stone, or something of the sort. An ordinary death seems to miserable and common for the Avengers. I sort of get the feeling everything will be changed, in an irreparable way, yet with the heroes somehow still in existence.
Another note - the way Tony Stark saw the brink of death in Infinity War AND the role he has had in initiating the Avengers seems to suggest his ultimate demise. With a nod back to the vision of the defeated Avengers Stark had a while back, the weight of the entire cause seems to (possibly) ultimately rest with him.
I can't wait to see how this turns out next year.
If one of them does end up dead, it definitely will be a special kind. I read somewhere a rumor or a leak that Captain America fights Thanos directly using Thor's weapon which already makes him worthy and the greatest mortal in the MCU and that's probably how they'll make his death very heroic.

No. Thor is so ridiculously powerful at this point that fighting things not at thanos level of strength is a joke, any villain the guardians fight in vol 3 (which will probably be Adam warlock based on what directors have said) (and he is very strong) still can't match thor. Thors new weapon (which really is just ultimate mjolnir renamed to stormbreaker) overpowered the infinity gems shooting at it.

I mean clearly The Vulture from Spider-Man Homecoming was no match for Iron Man but Stark was there mainly in an advisory role. Personally I'd like to see a follow-up to Ragnarok with Hela still as either the main antagonist or in a secondary role with another bad guy or possibly have Silver Surfer and Galactus show up. Considering he hasn't been like Chris Evans who has been quoted as saying he's ready to move on, as well as RDJ somewhat hinting towards calling it quits too. But I don't think RDJ will be walking away from the house he built anytime soon...

Captain America I think they might kill. He has not one, but two possible replacements. Iron Man I think they won't kill after his near-death in Infinity War, though I do think he will retire or at the very least take a more passive position in the MCU. As for Thor... honestly, I'm not sure, but I think he will survive, perhaps look for a way to save his people or something. Half of the Asgardians are supposedly still alive, as per his admission. How? I don't know, maybe Thanos gave them a lift or allowed them to escape. Banner probably won't die, but I would hope that if he did, they would at least find a way to introduce She-Hulk first. I'd be down for Shuri as Black Panther vs M'Baku plot for Black Panther 2, with a revived Black Panther not wanting to reclaim the throne, believing he failed Wakanda in Infinity War. You say maybe revive but there are multiple interviews about sequels to dead characters movies
I believe if any avenger actually bites the dust for good. It’ll be cap. His entire arc was based off sacrifice for a greater cause. Or the ones close to him. I believe it’ll be a glorious sacrifice and maybe cap sacrifices himself for Tony to live or buy the Avengers some time to fight the enemy. There’s mentioned to be another villain in Avengers 4 stronger than Thanos. Makes sense being captain Marvel is more powerful than Thanos and she’s a superhero (good guy). I believe Caps death will be due to him sacrificing his life so the avengers can buy time or get out of whatever the situation is. More than likely saving tony being all of this has been based around their love hate relationship
Thor is probably gonna get really angry then destroy the soul stone with his lighting then all the superheroes come and and kill thanos then at the end tony and pepper get married then post credit with silver surfer
