Cuz of the casuals Pre-ordering, buying deluxe/ultimate editions, and after all that still buying the season/battlepass before even playing the game. When this plague of people dissapear, then we will have good games, until then its gonna be like this. They don't even need to play the game, it suffices that they spend the money
It still effects us (singleplayer gamers) as well. All that's being made is crap like this and if it isn't multiplayer they always find some reason to take a game online.
The idea behind live service games is to make a game and then milk the customer constantly with every pretext while not allowing him/her to play the game offline to discourage pirating.
In regards to Helldivers 2, the first game was very indie and relatively niche. Its biggest blow up was when it was a free game on ps plus. Steam charts has its highest amount of players at under 8k. So they started with 120k server slots…. And it BLEW UP UNEXPECTEDLY. they were unable to Lee up with said unexpected demand to the point where they had to rework the backend of the game to support the current server levels. Arrowhead Studios deserves the least bit of criticism here since they have been exceptionally transparent to the point of the CEO basically saying to hold off purchasing until the problems with the servers r fixed and giving constant updates. Plus their “battle passes” never expire and can be earned in game without spending a dime by just playing
How many live service games, need to fail b4 studios get back to making proper games? I cant believe the ceo of ubi called his game AAAA! Its like saying ur game has 16 times the detail!! Iam sick of the amount of resources, time and effort, studios put in, to get a live service game to stick! I think gaming is in the state its in, cuz of all these live service games! I stuck with sony cuz of the killer 1st party games. So hearing them say they want more live service games, made me groan inside... not in a good way!! Luckily they have slashed the amount of live service games they want on ps!! Live service and battle royale games, have ruined gaming!!
Well after the recent layoffs, Sony apparently also axed several of their live-service projects. Also, apparently thanks to the input of Bungie devs, they also stopped their "Last of Us" live-service game before it ever saw the light of day. What they DID release now - Helldivers 2 - is actually a good game. I'm holding out hope that there are at least SOME people within Sony that are capable of learning...
Suicide Squad was absolutely pathetic. Star Wars Battlefront 2 a game from 2005 has caught up to if not surpassed it in player count 😂 That's embarrassing: the long dead Pandemic Studios made a game that definitely passed the test of time, yet the new Rocksteady and Sweet Baby Inc 🤢 couldn't last a month 😂
Sony supposedly cancelled 6 of those 12 live service games. They already released GT7 and Helldivers (and Foamstars?). So maybe only Marathon, Concord and Horizon online left.
It had to be stopped 3-4 years ago after anthem fiasko but atm i don't even care anymore i love how companies lose money following dead thrend then complaining about it :)
@@lightdarksoul2097 Just wanted to say that helldivers 2 is far from looter shooter like anthem division or suicide squad. I dont get why these studios keep thinking that a pve live service game is a good idea do they really think that people are interested in replaying the same boring missions fighting the same npcs over and over again just to gain better loot to be used for once again fighting the same npcs? Live service system makes sense for pvp games where you fight other people so it doesnt get old as quickly and you keep the game alive with updates.
450K+ Helldivers players would disagree with this. It's not the genre that's a problem, it's how well the game is made, how it respects the players time and how fairly it's monetized. PVE live service can clearly work well in 2024 it just has to be actually good game.
Its not because games cost more to make. Less than 20 games ever cost more than 100M to make. They arent the trend, they are the exception. If you adjust for inflation you will find games like the original Halo 2, Modern Warfare 2, Dead Space 2, Final Fantasy 7 and even ET on the most costly games to produce.
Not all games as service can coexist together. Remember the 7th generation when everybody and their mother wanted to be the next call of duty? At that time, the call of duty clones were either failures or grab some fame until the release of the new call of duty. Some games as service will be successful, but others don't. It's imposible to have many players in your game when there are other games that offer the same.
It’s funny how game publishers think live services are good for replayability. Yet I never went back to replay Destiny. I never even finished Avengers or Destiny 2. Yet I still go back and replay Ocarina of Time, Super Mario World, Uncharted 2 & 3, the God of War trilogy, Castlevania 4, and even Skyrim. You make a fun enough game and folks will replay it. They will come back to it. You don’t need to keep adding unlimited boring missions to keep it alive.
Wasnt it just today or yesterday that sony had a huge wave of layoffs again and canceld like 2 live serive games that were already in the making for a long time? :D
Why so few views?, this videos is great and very informative, I guess if you made better clickbaity title like "Breaking Elder Eing's Graphics Completely", "I Found This After Playing Skyrim For 10 years" or "This Is What 1000 Hours Of Palworld Looks Like", but still, I don't get why videos like this one don't pop off, I much rather prefer these informative videos rather than the usual "Was This Game Any Good" videos, but I guess most people like trendy videogames getting trashed after a bit of time of release if they were kind of meh or outright bad videogames, ironically if you trash the games at release when the hype is high you get flamed, even if you are right, so it's counterproductive and it's better to wait a bit, I guess most people like more the "The Awnful State Of "x" videogame" videos than informative ones, except me I guess and a few others, so if I were you I would focus more in those kind of videos kind of trashing on popular, yet unliked by most of the gaming community with generous time since it's release when the hype has gone down a bit so you don't get flamed videos.
@@brucefly3612 i think it's just many other gamers say things like this but also don't see a big difference made so others try to say the same thing but I'm think TH-cam only advertises videos like this to people who kinda already feel like this not new people
Why? I see this as a sort of "wealth re-distribution" in a sense. Ubisoft spent a couple hundred million on that game, where did that money go? I'll tell ya, it left Ubisoft's pocket and went into the pockets of employees, supporting businesses and the like. So what if they ended up releasing a game that no one is going to buy? Sure it was a false hope in an empty pirate-free space, but really it's no skin off my nose and a bunch of people got fed & paid so who am I to argue? Besides, we're NOT talking about Ubisoft anyways, they were bought out & the senior people are already gone. And frankly, I have no love for Paramount so...
It's not about live services, as much as it's about disgusting wokeness this games are overfilled with. I'd buy an amazing live-service game if it delivers what I love and keeps everything "woke" outside. And you would too. You'd whine about it being a "live service", but you'd buy it. Same as I'd never buy a single player offline game full of wokeness.
Wokeness and trying to apeal to literally everyone is sure an issue, that's specially bad when a product is already bad, but Is not even the main problem, the problem is how greedy some of these games are, bad and really repetitive Gameplay loop, lack of systems

they don't, it's just where it's easy to get funding
