I feel sorry for you for feeling this way. I've played through all the Metal Gear Solid games multiple times, MGS1 at least 30 because I love the experience.
Maybe it's because comparatively, even the longest Metal Gear Solid game is much much shorter than games made these days. So instead of getting a quick blast of awesomeness with unique gameplay sections dotted all throughout the game, the games you'd consider replaying are all 30+ hour games where the gameplay loop is extremely similar, especially when concerning the Souls games, so it's much harder to replay a game like that.

Im amazed at how similar is our approach to games. We both try to enjoy it all because we love what the medium has to offer, but we value the magic of illusion and immersion too much.
Although I gotta say, sometimes I do go after some RPGs just to try different builds.

even the "wait a decade to replay" technique I also use that! I recently beat fable again, although this time it took me around 10 to 15 hours because I knew most of the stuff, but it was a cool experience nonetheless.

Haven't replayed God of war, nor Ragnarok, Red Dead 2, those games are absolutely phenomenal and the first experience was just, truly a gift I wish I could have once again.

Nice vid! Didn't expect that low of a view count, you deserve more. You'll be big in the future

Best thing about replaying Sekiro is that previous bosses that you struggled with become easier to deal with. Sekiro is basically a rhythm game disguised as a souls-like. If I want to experience the story again, I'll just go and watch a vaatividya video and if I want that adrenaline rush of beating a sekiro boss, I try reflections of strength or go new game and ringing the demon bell.

I also very rarely replay games. For story or exploration based games it doesn't make sense unless you forgot most of it. I can see it making sense for stuff that is open ended or just has a fun gameplay loop. I replayed most souls games and I remember replaying borderlands 2 a few times back in the days. I could also see myself replaying fallout new vegas at some point. There's also games that I adored when I played them first but I couldn't finish a second time. Dead Space 2 for example

There is reason why I wait today long time after release before picking that game up. It will be more polished got probably more content than release version

I completely agree. Limiting yourself to one game won't teach you anything new most of the time.

I think this is true for a lot of story/movie type of games like the last of us, god of war. The first experience is always the best. This makes me think of past games that I consider my favorite that cannot be replayed at all. World of warcraft back in the 2000s. The community and social aspect of mmos during the mid 2000s cannot be replicated. Modern Warfare 2 (2009). I know you didnt give league of legends much love but i consider it one of my favorite games of all time atleast in the time period I played (2013-2017). I fell in love with the game, playing late into night with buds "can't end with a loss", watching lcs pros in the early days of twitch.

Well said. Perfect game that encapsulates this is Outer Wilds, atleast that's what I've heard. I loved pokemon emerald as well, but I only played it twice within the last 5 years compared to your many playthroughs.
P.S: Question directed to Atmuz - I also want to make video game essays like this for games I really enjoyed (doing one on Sekiro for my first one, just completed first playthrough) I mean to ask, does it take alot of time to edit clips like this together? Do you find random gameplay footage and meld them into the video or mix in your own recordings? I'm nervous as to how I want to produce my very first video. I have no idea creating/editing as well XD. Thank you!

Editing definately does take up a lot of my time for videos like this depending on how heavy the edits are. This video itself probably took around 12-15 hours to produce. If I wanna talk about a specific game (like Sekiro) I'll record my own footage and just purely use that. But if I don't have any footage of something, I'll just find random footage. I know creating your first video is pretty daunting, so take your time with it!

My favorite games of all time are dark souls and resident evil 4, i've moved away from them for now to try other games and i've found some that i like a lot but a lot of times i feel like i have to force myself to finish them and when im done i never feel like playing them again. If i dont beat a game and immediately want to start a new playthrough then it'll never be on the level of dark souls and re4

You can play a game you've played many times with a new pair of eyes. Emil Pagliarulo has recently come out and said that the guy you play as - "Nate" - in Fallout 4 is the American soldier who was laughing as another soldier executed a Canadian citizen at the beginning of Fallout 1. They just didn't share that information with the player until now. You can play Fallout 4 again looking for evidence that you missed the first time around that will inform you he's that guy.
I played Mass Effect this year for the first time in 13 years with a brand new pair of eyes. I had traded my Xbox 360 and all my games in 2013 but picked up a used one in 2017. Late last year I was watching a video called "Indoctrination Theory" and it made me rush out and buy Mass Effect 1 & 2 again from my nearest used games store.
One of the issues in the indoctrination theory video was how Anderson got ahead of Shepard when Shepard went up the beam. I started playing Mass Effect 1 and in the opening sequence on the Normandy you hear Anderson saying to Joker, "Tell Commander Shepard to meet me in the comm room for a debriefing." Then Joker says, "Better watch out captain, I think Nihlus is headed you way," to which Anderson replies, "He's already here Lieutenant."
You then take control of Shepard for the first time and can go straight to the comm room (it only takes a few seconds) where you will be greeted by Nihlus who says, " Commander Shepard, I'm glad you got here first, it will give us a chance to talk." You are then given the dialogue option "Where's Anderson?" You press it and Shepard says, "The captain said he'd meet me here." Shepard then has a conversation with Nihlus which is interrupted by Anderson walking in behind Shepard saying, "It's time we told the Captain what's really going on."
I played Mass Effect 1 seven times in 2010 and I that went over my head every single time. When I noticed it this time my thoughts immediately went to the indoctrination theory video and the mystery of how Anderson got ahead of Shepard when Shepard goes up the beam at the end of Mass Effect 3. They were setting up that situation at the end of Mass Effect 3 right from the beginning of Mass Effect 1.
So how does Anderson get ahead of Shepard during the charge to the beam at the end of Mass Effect 3? What has it got to do with Shepard getting ahead of Anderson at the start of Mass Effect 1? Emil Pagliarulo has already confessed that developers put secrets in games and don't share those secrets with the players, so you have to replay the Mass Effect trilogy again with a new pair of eyes to see it. You will find nothing is what it seems in Mass Effect.

or actually replay them every 6 years and reevaluate your WRONG worldviews
otherwise we get bethesda making the same shallow mess since oblivion and crowds of braindead idiots claiming them to be masterpieces because they never even tried thinking about what do they do, when, where and why.

I tried replying both The Witcher 3 and BG3. Couldn't do it. They are way too massive to be properly enjoyed on a second playthrough (like you, I try to do all the content on my first playthrough).
Prey is another one that I couldn't complete a second playthrough even though it's a top ten for me. The only exception to this have been Mass Effect (half a dozen playthroughs lol), Ori, and Persona 5. All of them have tremendous stories and characters.

Yeah I don't replay games. I've already played it once before, so none of the important story plot twists and shocking moments are gonna be as good as it was when I didn't already know the story.

…multiplayer games are not gonna get better until the industry crashes. There is so much scummy and predatory marketing to the point I don’t want my kids touching them like I used to as a kid.

I feel sorry for you dude. You essentially wasted your money in the long run if you can’t enjoy replaying something. You will eventually be left with a majority of repetitive garbage that these companies are aggregating data from each other.

Sekiro is really trash when you try to replay it.
