    Just moved my system from a vertical testbench to this Lian Li case; which I purchased and picked up today for $39 on a local auction site. The case is in pristine condition and with its design and flexibility, made the build seamless.
    Considering the quality and attributes of this case, believe I got it for a bargain basement price.

    I like that concept of being able to open just the bottom of the case. To me, this is almost perfect (I'm not really a big fan of tempered glass on the right side of the case). I think they could also make one without any tempered glass. Just straight steel panels left and right with sound dampening material for the silence freaks among us (but that would take away from the max CPU cooler height). Also, that number of supported drives is insane.
    And just a question guys: The current placement of the front fans looks like you can slide the them both a bit upwards, and it *might* fit a third 140mm fan. Because it really looks like a third one would fit.
    Nice vid as always guys :)

      Thanks Grimm00002! And to your question about a front 3rd 140, it won’t fit - we tried. But Lian Ali could have engineered one to fit we think!

      @@2GuysTek ohh... that's why Jon did say it was a missed opportunity right there. I know Lian Li said it on the product page (only supports two 140s), but looking at your vid and the image from their website, it really does kind of trigger you to thinking it might fit...

    Built a PC into this case last week. Overall impressions are good, but:
    - It's a bit too heavy (over 12kg).
    - All included fans are a bit noisy.
    - Not enough dust filtering, dust gathers on all internal surfaces pretty quickly.
    - I missed the Type-C cable and it was impossible to buy in my country.

    This Lancool II Mesh Performance has been awesome.
    I'd note that a 120mm fan can be added to the front 2x 140mm fan setup. I placed the 120mm at the bottom to help add more pressure in the area below the PSU shroud.
    So my setup ... front intake = 2x 140mm + 1x 120mm, top outtake = Arctic 240mm AIO, back outtake = 1x 120mm, bottom/PSU shroud intake = 2x 120mm.
    I use the case fan controller set to PWM pass through, controlling fan speeds via bios fan curves for ultra quiet operation.
    So far, my 13600k/4080 build runs practically silent fan speeds with no negative impact on hardware thermals, even during hours of continuous gamings.
    Mission Accomplished
    PS... i found a buyer and sold my stock Lian Lian, 2x 140mm & 1x 120mm case fans, so I'm now running Arctic P12 and P14 PWM PST fans. I'd note the stock Lian Li fans were very good, and I would have been very happy to keep the Lian Li + Arctic fan mix.

    The front CAN in fact house 3 fans, it's got room for the two 140mm fans plus one extra 120mm you can put on the bottom.

    • @2GuysTek
      @2GuysTek  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We state the front will hold 3x 120mm fans. And while it never crossed our minds, there is no reason you couldn’t have 2x 140mm fans and 1x 120mm. Weird combination, but doable. Thanks for watching!

    Very nice video. I currently have a system built into this case. The cooling potential is insane. I’m current running 11 total fans and a 360 AIO. My current setup is the Lian Li Galahad 360 with the ST120 that come with it out front with SL120 Uni fans on the back side for a push-pull config. I also have 2 more SL120s on the PSU shroud, 1 at the rear, and 2 SL140s up top. I run them all at low to mid rpm and my cpu (3700X OC’d to 4.2) never gets above 62C.

    • @JosephKinney
      @JosephKinney ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@xelkim9666 I reversed the mounting bracket and have it on the front most position. Also, you do have to mount with the tubes up top (although there’s nothing really wrong with this, as the top of the rad is still higher than the pump). My tube could technically reach in a tube down format but it’s a stretch and they’re pretty stiff for such an aggressive bend. You’ll need to remove the plate on the front of the basement and move the hard drive tray as far back as you can. Otherwise, it was pretty easy.

    Recently built an x570/5600x system in this, difficult to dock it. One of the key features that I personally enjoyed were the removable back panel covers. However, I agree with your point on the possibility of 3x 140mm in place of the given 2x 140mm (Along with the head-scratching inclusion of the bottom front panel gap disrupting front intake flow). Likewise, the usb-c additional purchase is a bit silly, can understand why it is not included- but nonetheless would be a welcome addition from factory.
    Great video you two,

    I am considering this quite hard to be my new case... But there are three downsides that make me hesitate... The extra charge to get USB C is one of them. Another would be the combinated headphone jack. But since I use a standalone microphone now, this shouldnt bother me that much. Also, I could mod my own frontpannel. A real turndown are the drivecaddies. There seems to be next to no vibration dampening and I am a sucker for quiet PCs... A rattling 3.5" HDD could break the whole experience for me. Any experiences with that?

    • @Medievalfan94
      @Medievalfan94 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anyways, I got the case. And a 1TB SSD with it, so I could put my spinning rust to rest. The combined jack does not bother me at all, and I got the USB-C upgrade right away. So all in all, I am quite satisfied with the case. Only downside is dust, the frontpanel does not include any filtering so yeah, dust comds in the case quite fast.

    You didn't mention that the motherboard standoffs and their cheap thin screw holes are crap. I needed pliers to get a couple of them out when they just spun around whilst I was very carefully getting them out and then had to use outsized standoffs to fit. This was a total let down when the case itself is amazing.

    This things a beast....even with a 280mm arctic aio in push pull. Front mounted My 3070 strix stays in 0rpm mode even when under mild gaming loads like mobas, card games etc....still to think i can run games like that or "older" games and watch a stream/movie on a 2nd monitor....completely passively cooling my GPU and the 140mm fans on the aio are so quiet keeping the cpu cool. Even in a game like escape from tarkov which is bottlenecked by its engine ITS perfect bc my system noise is essentially silent for listening for footsteps or using open backed headphones in general. For the price of the chassis being somewhat low. You can easily pack it with expensive hardware and invest the $$$ you would have spent on a near 150-200$ chassis on 2 5x packs of 120mm and 140mm arctic fans. Which are perfect for AIO directional airflow and THE PSU shroud to help with most of these NEWER gpu that offer 0 RPM idle fan profiles....5700xt strix per ex GETS very hot and this chassis would suit it well. The 3070 FE also has a 0rpm fan profile out of the box but its stock voltage curve yields some higher temps than the strix. Either way this chassis is ideal for front mounting a thick 280mm rad for push pull...and these newer gpu with 0rpm fan profiles. Perfect mix of quiet operation during content consumption even max gaming loads. And MAX FAN SPEED air movement if youre pushing a high cpu load or duel load for pure work purposes where "noise" may not even be an issue. Sure i would probably be better off with noctua exhaust fans to move more air out. But thats why i went with a front mount so my top exhaust was unobstructed. Better overall vrm temps. IF my GPU was a much worse design from a cooling standpoint or older like the 5700xts that generate high heat or even like a single fan 2060....then an airflow chassis like this or a HAF is the way to go...if not FULL atx for the added internal volumetric airflow full atx can offer.

      You can certainly move the 2 140mm front fans to the top of the case. They won't fit on the bottom due to their size. regarding the included fans, they're fine but at full speed can make a lot of noise. I'd recommend starting with the included fans and if you're unhappy with them, upgrade them - but give them a shot first.

Not to get all super nerdy, but technically the ATX standard (and the never realized BTX successor standard) have thermal zones as well, but it's rarely employed in desktops.

    • @2GuysTek
      @2GuysTek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! It’s really going to come down to personal opinion. We haven’t reviewed the 500DX case, but we’ve looked it over and it’s a pretty nice case (from the marketing materials). That being said, we’ve really fallen in love with the features of the Lancool II Mesh. It’s the little things that stand out for us, like the compartments in the back to hide cables, the multiple doors to access only what you need, and the crazy airflow. You won’t go wrong with both, but our dollar would be on the Lian Li.

    I’m pretty new to this whole pc shebang and I was wondering. For the fan controller do you have to plug the controller into anything?

    • @2GuysTek
      @2GuysTek  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The controller requires power, but this particular controller doesn’t require to be plugged into your motherboard to work. The speed selector on top has 4 modes. Low, medium, and high, and the 4th mode is a pass through if the controller is connected to one of your motherboard’s fan headers, allowing your motherboard to control all fan speeds.

    • @nsa10001
      @nsa10001 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can control it from the case (via the switch on the front top) and the controller can go into a 4pin MOBO socket, plus the power has to be connected to your PSU.

    Great review, I've bought this case to! :-)
    Question though: Is there any difference between this case and the non Performance one (Lian Li Lancool II Mesh) and if so, what is it?

    • @2GuysTek
      @2GuysTek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The case is the same - the difference is the inclusion of 3x 120mm RGB lights and a controller to control them. The Performance ships with the 2x 140mm fans and a 120mm in the back, otherwise the cases are essentially the same. Thanks for watching, consider subscribing if you enjoyed our work!

    • @MSJChem
      @MSJChem 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also went for the performance version rather than the RGB. I switched out the stock fans for Noctua fans and I have to say, this case is amazing. I really like being able to control the fan speed from the front of the case. Airflow is great but just one thing is the dust cover on the top of the case - if you have a fan placed there, it really hampers airflow. I've even considered cutting a hole so the fan can exhaust air better.

    • @rodafowa1279
      @rodafowa1279 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MSJChem Pro tip: Dust covers are only necessary when using fans as intake. You generally don't use top fans as intake, as it doesn't make any sense. Hot air rises, so you don't want to obstruct the hot air rising out of your case with cool air being forced down with a fan. Plus, with the open design of the case, two decent 140mm or three decent 120mm fans pulling air in at the front is more than enough. The two stock 140mm fans are actually decent enough on their own. I wanted to test them out before swapping them for my usual array of San Ace 109R1212H1011's. Decided that I didn't even need to, and I'll only do it if I overclock or something. Lastly, there's just enough clearance from the ground for an intake fan to make a difference on the bottom if you don't think the front fans are enough for some reason. If you are only using SSD's (or M.2's) and remove the hard drive bay altogether, I suppose it could be advantageous to put in a second intake fan at the bottom.

    It it's possible to put 2 140s fans top, can u mount 280 radiator top?

    • @2GuysTek
      @2GuysTek  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The case does support 2x 140mm fans up top, but Lian Li does not recommend a 280mm radiator up top - likely because the thickness would exceed your ability to either run cables to the power at the top of the board (CPU power) and/or would physically interfere with the mounting of the motherboard. Thanks for the question!

  • @LasciviousPsyche

    Guys I'm just curious with those 2x140 fans does it make it cooler than the original lancool ii mesh with 3x120's rgb. I just bought this performance case, wish they made the 140's rgb though :(.

    • @2GuysTek
      @2GuysTek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s hard to really validate whether swapping the 3 120s for 2 140s makes a big difference in airflow. But it does make a difference in fan noise, which is equally important!

    • @LasciviousPsyche
      @LasciviousPsyche 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2GuysTek Okay, well I put a lancool 3 fan 360 aio in the front and the 2 x140's up top, set fan curve to only ramp if it hits 70 degrees. Pretty quiet. Only thing I dislike about fan controllers which I didn't know until I set this bad boy up is it only shows you I guess an average of the rpms of all those fans connected to what ever fan header you plug it into when using pmw (A )settings. Be nice if their was a chip on fan controllers that would say like sysfan1 (ex. aka what it's plugged into): 1: xxxx rpm 2: xxxx rpm 3: xxx rpm. Anyways, it's a nice case and I'm happy with it. Hey guys, I have a question. My GPU is pretty long and part of it rests on the cable management bar, next to the mobo. Since the bar is also made of metal, would contact with the GPU be dangerous? As in, would it cause short-circuits or electrical sparks?
    My assumption would be no, but I'd love to get your take on it.

    • @2GuysTek
      @2GuysTek  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're _probably_ okay. Typically speaking, the areas around the GPU's edges do not have bare circuits that could cause a short. You're likely resting the card's cooler against the cable management bar and not any of the printed circuit board which is perfectly okay to do. The easy answer is to take a quick moment and inspect the bottom-right side of the GPU and see if the area has any bare PCB or if it's entirely painted and/or plastic. If it is, you're all clear to go for it!

    since this case can with the arctic liquid freezer II 360 model in a push pull config in the front ill move the built in 140 fans to the top exhaust and get a couple of 120 fans for the bottom psu intake under the gpu. that's seems like pretty good set up

      The logo is a shiny silver inlay of plastic. There's no reason why you couldn't cover it up though. If you were to remove the inlay, you'd still have to contend with the recessed space left when you remove the inlay and whatever might be behind that (mounting holes, etc.) potentially.
