+The Hero of Kvatch miraak was really the first dragonborn reman ruled in tamriel during the 1st era, it means he wasn't born long ago while miraak was devouring dragons when these were ruling on tamriel, during the merethic era
Sovengarde sounds like an awesome afterlife. A never-ending feast, halls filled with music and merriment and feasting alongside your brothers and sisters. Somewhat better than white robes, halos and angel wings
They had to scale everything down to cut costs, keep settlements somewhat interesting, and to reduce travel time. For example, in-game Skyrim is about 16 or so square miles, while in-lore Skyrim is about 115,000 square miles

I love this series. It learns me a lot of Elder scrolls. Thank you. I will do this in my language, so more of people who like ES, will know about it's story. You did here really nice job. You have my thumb for all videos of this series.
I know it's not your fault, and I loooove these videos (watched them many times), but I seriously roll my eyes hard every time we get to the ESO portion of the lore.
I understand why you feel that way, but I think this was more of a money thing than a "let's tell the story we want to tell" thing. The DEVELOPER Bethesda's bosses basically said we're going to take your baby and make a new game, and the real TES devs had almost nothing to do with it.
I hate how people say "Oh, elves are evil genocidal maniacs", or, "Nords are Nazis!" What a group did in the past does not reflect what people of the same race are like now.
A few bad apples spoil the bunch. Besides, it's more accurate to remark that Nords are xenophobes while Thalmor (BURN IN OBLIVION!) are essentially Nazis by another name.
@@discountplaguedoctor88 Neither are Nazi's, nationalism is the correct answer in a time where the empire has out lived it's usefulness. There's no longer an ability to open the planes of oblivion and the dragon blood is dead. Therefore the empire is no more than a shell of unity where they will send people children to die.
***** Eh not to me. If you know much about north mythology everything matches up with there beliefs on after life and what not. Plus there kings are called jarls and the arrow to the knee thing in skyrim came from a norse expression for getting married. Just some examples I can think of right now.
***** Their armour with the horns and all that looks like the armour of Viking mythology created by people in the 19th century, however some of their culture is possibly taken from the actual vikings.
Nord means North in Norwegian, German, French, Romanian, Swedish, Italian, Icelandic and Danish, while "Noord" has the same meaning in Dutch and Afrikaans. Also, Nords appear to be the Tamriel version of the real world Nordic race who inhabited Northern and Central Europe. The Nords of Tamriel are voiced with vaguely Scandinavian or Nordic accents. Much of their warrior-centric culture is based on the Germanic cultures like the Vikings, Franks, Old Saxons, and Alemanni.
We believed that if that we die an honorable death in battle we would go to Asgard, which Sovngarde is based of. The believe in Talos is based of what we call "norska gudalæru" translated rofly "Nordic god teaching"
Patric Landström Just ask the nearest Nord what he thinks of the end of life, and you'll likely be treated to a horrific story of blood, bone and viscera, of courageous deeds and heartbreaking sorrow. Carnage notwithstanding, there may be even more to death than the average Nord warrior realizes. New evidence suggests a life beyond the battlefield, where a valiant Nord may live forever, downing mead and engaging in contests of strength and skill. But in order to fully understand the possibility of a Nord's eternal life after death, one must first reexamine the legends surrounding that most wondrous of warrior's retreats -- Sovngarde. According to the ancient writings and oral traditions of the Nords, going back as far as the Late Merethic Era, there exists a place so magnificent, so honored, that the entrance lies hidden from view. Sovngarde, it is called, built by the God Shor to honor those Nords who have proven their mettle in war. Within this “Hall of Valor” time as we know it has no meaning. The concepts of life and death are left on the doorstep, and those within exist in a sort of self-contained euphoria, free of pain, suffering and the worst malady a Nord could suffer -- boredom. But just how well hidden the entrance to Sovngarde is has been a matter of much scholarly debate, and there are those who believe Shor's great hall is just a myth, for there are no actual accounts from Nords who have experienced the wonders of Sovngarde then returned to tell the tale. Not that this has stopped anyone from looking. Some Nords spend a lifetime searching for the mysterious hidden entrance to Sovngarde. Most return home sad and broken, their hearts heavy with failure. They'll never know the pleasure of a mead flagon that never empties, or a wrestling tournament without end.
+David Clapp The elves betrayal is why the Nords started their resentment towards elves, it's their fault. They think themselves superior but the Nords shall rise and the Elves shall steep to lowly peasants and even slaves.
+cayden blackwell No, Elves are not that weak. They are powerful mages and archers, and the orsimer are mighty and powerful. Plus, that'd make us no better than the alyeids.
David Clapp The barbaric races are considered Mage killers, and the Nords are one of the barbaric races... And the Orcs side with the Empire, not the AD. Also all elves have low population and low reproduction rates. AD: Altmer, Bosmer, and Khajiit. Second Nordic Empire: Nords and the people they conquer... A United Skyrim would win against the AD.
Simply LOOOVE the narration. Its like a childhood bedtime story. Also, BLOWN AWAY by the syncing of the 'like and subscribe' text with the Skyrim theme at the end. Now that's Attention to Detail !!! ✨
this is a perfect discription of our political system(us) but choosing a leader that promotes hate is wrong. The empire must change in order to become a great land
this is great to listen to when you're working on the computer, cause you don't need the images so much, and the narration is really well done and well written, thanks :)
Lol hey let me Copy Paste this: Am I the Only one that thinks this. Siding with the Stomcloaks is indeed the best because look at Skyrim and the Nords. Harsh Land, Harsh Ecosystem, Even Harsher Nords. I mean Come on any Thalmor Army would HAVE to Invade Skyrim in Summer or Spring and All the Nords would have to do is wear them down Until Winter then BAM kill them off. And Ulfric was going to do just that because he knew Skyrim could not be taken by a Large army that could not Thrive in the Cold. Also come on Guy's what about the Nords Homeland?! Don't you think the Civil War ended Many years Ago and maybe..Just Maybe a Atmoraien Empire ((Pretty much a Nordic Empire)) Would have come to Fruition? All it would Take would be a Group of Nords to Return to there Homeland and say "Come my Brothers We shall retake Skyrim" If the Thalmor win. Come on I can't be the Only one wanting to see a Atmoraien Empire Kicking ass in Tamreil right people? To Hell with Elder Scrolls VI Black Marsh, I want to see a Elder Scrolls VI Atmora
I always play as a Nord. I love Skyrim, and I love the Nordic people, culture and way of life. And it's because of this that I always fight for the Empire.
+PsychosisFire cause they have too? Nords are supposed to be proud of there history and worshipped Talos as a Divine. empire wanted to take that away, which led to another revolution, against the empire. so I think your still on the wrong side.
EpicTechnique Yes, the Empire had to. It was either that, or continue fighting and inevitably lose to and be annexed by the Aldmeri Dominion. I find the whole "they banned Talos" argument" to be quite weak. It's only the Thalmor who hate Talos-worship; many Imperials themselves worship Talos. As long as you're not stupid enough to dance around singing your praises to Talos in front of every Thalmor agent you see, the Empire is quite happy to accomodate you and look the other way. Also, Talos founded the first empire. Uniting all the peoples of Tamriel under one banner is his legacy. For people who claim to love and respect Talos, the Stormcloaks sure don't seem to have much of a problem with destroying the empire that he worked so hard to build.
+PsychosisFire didn't they mention that the empire was corrupted after the passing of Talos that is why the storm cloaks didn't agree expecially after they signed with the Dominion. besides war is the life of a Nord that is what we learned in this history video
You make the best TES lore videos I've come across so far, by a wide margin! I'd love for you to make videos that delve deeper into geography of each area. Especially ones that don't have any modern mainline games like Valenwood, Elsweyr, Summerset Isles, Hammerfell etc. Keep up the good work!
for pissing your pants because of alduin only to find "valor" when you can gain up on him! For racism and exclusive cosmic social clubs! for using ELVISH super weapons to defeat elves! For being so stubborn to not notice you are shooting yourself in the foot by fighting against the empire instead of remaining together! HURRA! But yea, we elves also have our issues....but at least I acknowledge them and try to improve lol.
I like how most other races either were born into their home or just invaded then made friends with the locals. God damn nords though, they said 'Fuck you, fuck the dragons, these are our mountains.'
Rewatching this 8 years later and only just now noticed how the ending text flashes with the dragonborn theme playing. Such a shame what happened to this channel despite all the love that was poured into these videos.
Jacob Sutton Nords seem to do worse when they aren't part of a larger Empire. Their greatest battle was their alliance with the Orcs and Khajiit to battle the Chimer at Red Mountain. They lost so badly it's not even funny.
Skyrim would definitely have to be my favorite. Its rich in history and lore. And not to mention it has some celtic forms to it, i love celtic. And Ysgramor.....he is older than Talos, a god. That sounds a bit strange. Nope nevermind, Oblivion is my favorite now. Less glitchy and absolutely beautiful. FULL of untold lore.
Samuel Hamilton Ysgramor didn't achieve CHIM. Also Talos the God is more than just one mortal. Talos is made up by the ambition and battle mastery of Tiber Septim and Reman Cyrodiil. Also included are Ysmir Wulfarth, and Zurin Arcturus. Together they make Talos the God.
Lightscribe225 -_- the fact of the matter is that Ysgramor came before Talos. Ysggramors physical body is older and more decrepid. Think in terms of the physical realm.
Phong Trần That's arguable...most of the conflicts here on Earth are started over way more trivial things. And when you read about history that's bad it makes you feel ashamed to be part of the same race :P Plus there's magic and interesting Gods, here on earth we don't have magic and all of the modern believed Gods are comparably boring. I love history in general, but even I would admit that Tamriel's history is much cooler haha
The empire is not weak, it's the emperor is. I say we need a Nord emperor back on the throne. I feel like nords should rule the empire because while the septim dynasty ruled the empire, the empire was doing fine, but as setptim dynasty ends, and some wanna be becomes the emperor high elves come in and fuck everything up.
Why should the Emperor be exclusively Nord? They have no special connection to divine right over any other race of man. The only requirement should be that emperor should be of Dragonborn blood. That is what gave the Cyrodiil empire it's strength.
Look bud this is the strat that most people want to be able to do. Join the Stormcloaks and grow close to Ulfric, side-note be a nord so he trusts you the most. Find some good reason to challenge him and kill him in the old ways so its a fair fight and win the loyalty of Galmar and his armies. Marry Elisif and become high king of Skyrim. Raise you armies of stormcloaks. Gather all of your possible followers and make them your lieutenants. Join the Dark Brotherhood and kill the Emperor. No doubt the newly elected emperor will be a fool, young, and inexperienced meaning he will make a strong alliance with the elves to destroy you. Crush them with the dragons you have won over after defeating alduin, with the blades (who's greatness is restored after you bring them back to power), your followers, your stormcloaks, your assassins, and your thu'um. Boom, there you go Nordic emperor back on the throne with Dragon-blood.
Steven Byford The snow elves were always called Falmer, its just that nowadays (referring to the time TES V: Skyrim is set in) the only Falmer/Snow Elves around are the twisted, vile, creatures you encounter.
Tomi Rantala I'm still laughing! because it was a suprise, I thought he was going to say something simple like "Why can't I break doors down in Skyrim" 😂😂
PelicanHammershaft It's annoying, they are referred to as snake people, so I assumed they were like Argonians. Even in TESO they use the same description, snake people. What the f does that even mean. Given that Akavir is meant to be land of dragons..
I really love your work. The way you describe the lore is outstanding. Keep up the good work for it is inspiring in creating characters in this beautiful universe. Much love and respect.
Jose Gamez You didn't Alduin was banished not killed. Alduin is an integral part of creation. When it is time for the world to end, he WILL reappear, and he WILL devour the world so as to make the new one and user a new kalpa.
I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but screw it. Someone needs to say it. Ancient nords were the cool ones, the ones we see now are pansies by comparizon
That's true It's mostly because the nords got pacified by the Empire.. Tho they always have the potential to come back to their roots. If it comes down to this, the nords are still all capable of learning the thu'um
Here's too all IRL Nords! Normans (like myself), Germans, Saxons, Danes, Norwegians, Swedes, and Frisians. We have had as much impact on world history as the Nords of Tamriel.
everything in skyrim is better underground, oh yeah, dwemer, falmer, ancient Nord bone walkers, and dragon priests, it being ironic that dragon priests worship things that live in the sky, yet worshiped underground, even though dragon priests can fly
The entire plot of Skyrim seems a little lore-breaking, because as Dragonborn, most Nords would have bowed down and pledged allegiance to him/her. He/She would have had an army to take down the dragons and rule Skyrim.
Not really. It's been said countless times, that the only force ever know to fight alongside the Dragonborn is the Blades. It's been said that ending the World Eater's reign was a fight for the Dragonborn alone. Still, I don't think they'd threaten to kill/arrest the Dragonborn for petty crime, as he/she is the only one standing between life and death.
I differ from your opinion, just because your'e dragonborn doesnt mean Nords should bow before you and follow you, much less ifthe dragonborn is an Elf, they are destined to glory and if you know that only a dragonborn can sit on the ruby throne of cyrodiil, unless this isinvalidated with the destruccion of the amulet of kings in the oblivion crisis. imagine the dragonborn of the 4th era unifying the war torn lands and reforming the 4th empire of man, now that would be a story to tell :D
Noel Santiago Mattei I'm not saying that nords should, just that most would, one because of their devotion to the Dragonborns(?), and the fact that there are fucking dragons trying to kill everyone.
BlarghMeow Yeah, if it were realistic, i'm sure the Stormcloaks, Imperials, hell, even races from other parts of Tamriel would join the fight against the world eater Alduin. The Dragons were out to destroy humanity, so it'd make sense.
The traditional Norse people are consisted of the modern day Scandinavian peninsula(Norway Sweden), Denmark, Finland, Iceland and the northern territories that later made up northern Germany. The word Nord is Norse for North or Northern.
CheetahChugXE I'll use dragonhide (-80% incoming dmg) and i sumon frost atronachs (Frost damage stamina) and make you fear with my illusion magick and finish with fireballs :)
Shoddy if the dragonborn is to be the leader of all the nords .. then after beating Alduin why didn't they make the dragonborn their leader? I mean yes you defeated the world eater but yet you're still adventuring and not their supposed leader.. can you explain that please?
Crazy Gladiator EVEN after you were called by the grey beards, and you make a truce until alduin is dead, and you're the reason why one of the sides actually wins the war! you own the dragon tongue and can beat everyone before your face, you kill all dragons, you beat up mirrak and you can eventually ride on dragons! you can summon dragons, and you can be a hybrid vampire and lycan! you get arrows to force a bloody freaking eclipse, you visit sovengrade and can summon heroes from there, you literally kill alduin, you are the master thief the master warrior, the master mage, the invincible dragon slayer, you help everyone, and get daedra artificts and aedra blessing. and in the end none for the god's sake acknowledges you for whom you are or what you do! what the hell?! you should have been made literally into an official champion at least or an official high king/queen if possible! what the hell?
Invisible Lame. Skyrim was poorly written. Shoddycast does a better job at depicting the events of skyrim than the actual game. Nords are my least favoite race anyways. GO THALMOR!!!
lynnthegreat10 I've been playing skyrim for 2 years so far, until my ram can't hold no more cause of cooling system problems and now I can't even play dragon age what the hell?
Sorry bud but the whole nord superiority thing is greatly questionable because of how powerful and fast a high elf spell sword can become. Great proof exists since the high elves were only defeated because of a super weapon and how powerful they still are even after the Great War.
One big question. You said that the snow elves called themselves "falmer" yet in another video you said they were given the name once they turned into the blind monsters we know them as now.
No, If you have the Dawngaurd DLC you will learn that the remaining Snow Elves prefer the name "Snow Elf" because Falmer is usually what the people call "The Betrayed". The Snow Elves call them The Betrayed because Er.. I think because the Dwemer betrayed the Falmer but it could be for a different reason. Anyway "The Betrayed" is what the Snow Elves call the Falmer and the Falmer are the ugly things in Dwemer ruins.
Ivan Moncure Nords in elder scrolls are based off of the Norse and the Germanic. Hell, even the current predicament in the whole skyrim civil war thing mimics that of the Roman Empire trying to impose themselves onto the Germanic people during the Roman Empire era. In some 2,000 years ago in Central Europe.
Ivan Moncure Even the Nords way of society mimics that of the Germanic, that being a bunch of mini-kings ruling over their part of the primary province/state. And just like the Nords having to come in constant fighting amongst each other, the Germanic people did the same thing. Also it seems that Talos and/or Ysgramor represents Arminius.
Miraak. St. Alessia was not Dragonborn in life, but she was given divine blood by Akatosh upon her death and becoming part of the *Amulet of Kings*. It's safe to say that her Soul is contained in the very artifact that would determine whether or not someone else was Dragonborn, and thus worthy to wear the Amulet (as we all know, it somehow slips off the person if they aren't Dragonborn). ^ ...Which should subtly explain a great deal about how *Mankar Camoran* was able to wear it. He somehow *became* Dragonborn, despite not being born as one.
Michal Malcho You mean how old he is? Oh so very old..."ancient" would be literally correct. At this point, Miraak might be *undead* (as he was originally defeated and possibly killed by *_Vahlok the Jailor_*). ^ It was, of course, due to Hermaeus Mora as to why Miraak is still "alive" despite that past defeat.
White Raven no I think there is more to dragonborns then thought, I believe when a Dovahkiin devours dragon souls they gain some superhuman abilities like strength and increased lifespan I mean the souls must give them some kind of benefit...
and now that I've finished. Great job... your inflection is near perfect and the images are something to draw in the mind of the listener... again, Great Job... 4 out of 5 with the implied 3/4 implied!!!
The nords attacked the reachmen/bretons, attacked orc strongholds, stole falmer land, fought with the dwemer and dunmer. Conquered all of tamriel along with the original elven owners of the first aldmeri dominion- the altmer and bosmer. And now the imperials. Hailing tiber septim who enslaved tamriel , stealing resources and demanding taxes for the empire... And the Thalmor are the bad guys?
Eadmund Isen-Healf only because of what happened to them honestly im not a fan of the elves of elderscols but the dwemer and the thalmar have both had bad luck but they fought till the end that is what I can agree with
Eadmund Isen-Healf Actually the snow elves struck first at the events of the "Night of Tears", then ysgramor gathered his 500 companions and kicked there ass.
Jay Neal but loving them for their lore and the fact that they are cat people ist an argument to call them the best fighter. Best thieves yeah but best warriros no

while miraak was devouring dragons when these were ruling on tamriel, during the merethic era
+BURNING BLAZE he was a dragon priest and the first dragonborn
Sovengarde sounds like an awesome afterlife. A never-ending feast, halls filled with music and merriment and feasting alongside your brothers and sisters.
Somewhat better than white robes, halos and angel wings
"The elves had learnt a most painful lesson.. Don't. F*ck. With Nords!"
The one thing i dislike about Skyrim is how unpopulated and small the towns and cities are. I hope they fix this in ES VI.
They had to scale everything down to cut costs, keep settlements somewhat interesting, and to reduce travel time. For example, in-game Skyrim is about 16 or so square miles, while in-lore Skyrim is about 115,000 square miles
Thank The Nine for Mods!
I blame the consoles. PC players can't have anything nice when the game is going to be released on consoles too.
If it were a real place or existed in real life it would probably have 500k-1M people living there.
+Kevin Sullivan tbh I don't think the best gaming pc you can get in 2016 would be able to handle like 4k graphics with cities the size of Irl cities and shit while it's populated with thousands of npc's and imagine the money you'd have to spend on making the game , and it won't have really good sells because most people can't afford beastly gaming pc's. Sorry this was a bit long and if I took your comment the wrong way
I love this series. It learns me a lot of Elder scrolls. Thank you. I will do this in my language, so more of people who like ES, will know about it's story. You did here really nice job. You have my thumb for all videos of this series.
Nirn's history is better than Earth's history.. why? because Imagination>Real World
Damien Green ikr
babbattaDAdentist Yeah but how we perceive those events in our imagination is more exciting than the actual event itself.
+Damien Green Exactly! It's the interesting bits of earths history spiced up to be even more interesting!
+Damien Green
no, they're not
Think about it this way, everything in fantasy land, comes from our Earth.
Fun fact: the Nords were actually based on the Norse people, right down to their mythology. Sovngarde is a bit like Valhalla, wouldn't you say?
+Scmity In old Norse Draugr means ghost!
+Nick Whitman Actually it's means "again-walking", and according to myths they're...well. Enhanced, powerful zombies.
+EariosRandomness No shit, Sherloch Holmes
+EariosRandomness You don't say
+EariosRandomness Aye, my family dates back to the hjorleod age of Scandinavia, and my great Pa still calls the men of the family Nords at heart.
Skyrim=Scandinavia
Totally
Imperials - Roman empire
High Rock - Bretons - medieval england
Hammerfell - muslim factions
Skyrim also has plenty of Germanic elements
*****
Weren't those the franks?
Actually Bretons are based on the Celts
I know it's not your fault, and I loooove these videos (watched them many times), but I seriously roll my eyes hard every time we get to the ESO portion of the lore.
same
Why is that? Bethesda made it for a reason...
Bethesda (the developer) didn't make it at all
+Alon Shaul ok sorry but if they didn't agree with the lore in it then they wouldn't have let the game be made.
But that's exactly what they're becoming now.
Sounds about white
A few bad apples spoil the bunch. Besides, it's more accurate to remark that Nords are xenophobes while Thalmor (BURN IN OBLIVION!) are essentially Nazis by another name.
It’s just like real life though. Stereotypes always exist
Nords were more like Vikings.
The nords are based off of vikings and viking culture. Just the same way the nords are warlike so are the vikings.
Of course they are based of vikings, hence the ''nor'' meaning north/norse men.
*****
Eh not to me.
Gunloverize Plus the Nords interest in warrior poets (Skálds)
SuperFaroeIslands
It's not Asgard that Sovngarde is based on, it's Valhalla :) Asgard is merely where the Aesir reside.
Patric Landström
Just ask the nearest Nord what he thinks of the end of life, and you'll likely be treated to a horrific story of blood, bone and viscera, of courageous deeds and heartbreaking sorrow.
Tiber Septim was actually a Nord.
Tell that to Imperial propaganda.
Talos
is this candid? jk 😂🤣
No, Talos isn’t a Nord. He was a Neede
No he was actually a Breton raised in Skyrim
See that? We Nords were ruled over by DRAGONS, not weak elves. Although ironically, we did live alongside them, but they betrayed us first. Irony.
+David Clapp
The elves betrayal is why the Nords started their resentment towards elves, it's their fault.
David Clapp
The barbaric races are considered Mage killers, and the Nords are one of the barbaric races... And the Orcs side with the Empire, not the AD. Also all elves have low population and low reproduction rates.
AD: Altmer, Bosmer, and Khajiit.
Second Nordic Empire: Nords and the people they conquer...
A United Skyrim would win against the AD.
cayden blackwell I know who was in the aldmeri dominion, I was referencing MER, and orcs are also known as OrsiMER
David Clapp
What's the point? I knew that Orc is short for Orismer. But my point is that the elves will lose to the Nords and any that join them.
At first Ive read Nerds of skyrim, would have been a fun episode.
Not funny.
Rather humorous, I did indeed chuckle
Simply LOOOVE the narration. Its like a childhood bedtime story. Also, BLOWN AWAY by the syncing of the 'like and subscribe' text with the Skyrim theme at the end. Now that's Attention to Detail !!! ✨
Really love these videos!
Keep up the good work guys!
Make Skyrim great again
Wall
this is a perfect discription of our political system(us) but choosing a leader that promotes hate is wrong. The empire must change in order to become a great land

+ReichspepesKonzentrationsLager and make n'wahs pay for it

i like Nerds
blues bacon nerds? im guessing that was a typo?
this is great to listen to when you're working on the computer, cause you don't need the images so much, and the narration is really well done and well written, thanks :)
Nords are my favorite.... Breton are a close second though. :P
I like the human races the most because I feel most connected to them. My first play through was a Nord female but my current is a Breton male.
Mine favorite 2 races are Redguards and Dunmer.
Huh. I have Dunmer as my second favorite.
This is the best lore. Nords are my fav \m/
Dylan Andrews But sorry, Imperials taking over Skyrim is canon. Sooo...meh.
Billy, the loser who sits on his ass all day playing video games. Proof?
Dylan Andrews Holy shit, i forgot where i got that. I think it was from a video with the story writers but IDK i forgot. That was like 2012.
Billy, the loser who sits on his ass all day playing video games. Sorry man, no Proof= Me not caring.
I always play as a Nord. I love Skyrim, and I love the Nordic people, culture and way of life. And it's because of this that I always fight for the Empire.
Absolutely.
Didnt you just contradict yourself there? The imperials are trying to change their way of life by taking away their freedoms along with the thalmor
+PsychosisFire cause they have too? Nords are supposed to be proud of there history and worshipped Talos as a Divine. empire wanted to take that away, which led to another revolution, against the empire. so I think your still on the wrong side.
EpicTechnique
Yes, the Empire had to.
For the nords, for skyrim and for the stormcloaks!
For the Hist :D
***** You sound like a snobby Elf...
for pissing your pants because of alduin only to find "valor" when you can gain up on him!
@@robertoconnor6488 who gives a shit about immigrants opinions? The Nord race is the last untouched pure men race. with the redguards I think.
I got goose bumbs when that nord music started... damn I´m nerd :D
Doesn't mean you're a nerd, just means that the music is pretty good.
Doesn't mean you're a nerd, means you´re a NORD!
SKYRIM BELONGS TO THE NORDS!!!
And the nords belong to the Empire!!!!!!!!
No nords beloong to no one the empire belongs to the thalmor
Jacob Sutton
Nords seem to do worse when they aren't part of a larger Empire. Their greatest battle was their alliance with the Orcs and Khajiit to battle the Chimer at Red Mountain. They lost so badly it's not even funny.
Lightscribe225 Let alone remember this Empire was made by a nord...
Talos
Skyrim would definitely have to be my favorite. Its rich in history and lore. And not to mention it has some celtic forms to it, i love celtic. And Ysgramor.....he is older than Talos, a god. That sounds a bit strange. Nope nevermind, Oblivion is my favorite now. Less glitchy and absolutely beautiful. FULL of untold lore.
Ysgramor came before Talos....
Samuel Hamilton
Ysgramor didn't achieve CHIM.
Samuel Hamilton
Just cause he's older doesn't make him a god.
Lightscribe225 I never said hes a god though. Hes just older, period.
wow, this fantasy, made-up history of a world that does not even exist, is so much more interesting and cool than our real history here on earth :P
Our history is 1000 times better, why?because its real!
Dittto
Phong Trần That's arguable...most of the conflicts here on Earth are started over way more trivial things. And when you read about history that's bad it makes you feel ashamed to be part of the same race :P Plus there's magic and interesting Gods, here on earth we don't have magic and all of the modern believed Gods are comparably boring. I love history in general, but even I would admit that Tamriel's history is much cooler haha
David Muohy You can explain to me your opinion all you please, it's not going to change the way I feel about it
David Muohy agreed, in real life you dont do anything interesting, you cant even shoot fire from your hands.
this channel deserves much more praise and subs then it has
The empire is not weak, it's the emperor is.
That is what gave the Cyrodiil empire it's strength.
the empire is a bunch of weak pricks. stormcloaks ftw!
Taylor Olson i am mind blown :)
DragonBorn Its just the best path to be taken, everyone wants to walk in the footsteps of Talos :) (or Tiber Septim whichever you prefer)
I love the cold weather, i am a Nord and very proud
Wait, I thought the snow elves only became known as the Falmer after centuries of living underground twisted them into vile creatures.
Steven Byford The snow elves were always called Falmer, its just that nowadays (referring to the time TES V: Skyrim is set in) the only Falmer/Snow Elves around are the twisted, vile, creatures you encounter.
Tsubodai100 With the exception of 2 pure Snow Elves/Falmer, found in the Forgotten Vale.
Steven Byford Nah, Fal translates to Snow in the language of the Aldmer, while Mer translates to Snow. Ergo, Snow Elves.
The atmorians landing in Skyrim reminds me of Hengist and Horsa of the angles Saxons and jutes.
seriously, i love this
if the dragon tongue is so powerful to break down doors I wonder how powerful the dragon fart is ?
why Is this so funny to me? xD
Tomi Rantala I'm still laughing! because it was a suprise, I thought he was going to say something simple like "Why can't I break doors down in Skyrim" 😂😂
If you want to find that out 1st hand then play South Park Stick of Truth
James Garratt gas out a entire city

Beautiful voice for one of the great stories. We are in awe of this video
Miraak was the first Dragonborn, not Ramen Cyrodiil
Vaunomax that's right, Bethesda said so
He claims to be the first which may be true
ahah, Ramen Cyrodiil. RAMEN, Carl!!!
Vaunomax reman cyrodill was the first recorded dragonborn. Mirraks name was lost to the currents of time.
Vaunomax first in recorded history. Miraak came before
do you think you can do a lore on the Akaviri?
With as little that is known? Probably not.
Doubtful, it's not even certain that the Akavir were even human.
still it be interesting
PelicanHammershaft
It's annoying, they are referred to as snake people, so I assumed they were like Argonians. Even in TESO they use the same description, snake people. What the f does that even mean. Given that Akavir is meant to be land of dragons..
Adolfo Morgado Wow, like, just hating because the guy uses a pony image? What's the point? He's not even talking about ponies or anything.
Can't...stop....watching!
I really love your work. The way you describe the lore is outstanding. Keep up the good work for it is inspiring in creating characters in this beautiful universe. Much love and respect.
if those with the blood of dragons are distend to rule then why the FUCK am i not the emperor
Just because they are destined to rule doesn't mean all of them become rulers...
our DESTINY as the dragonborn in ESV was to kill alduin and you tell me if we did or not
Jose Gamez
You didn't Alduin was banished not killed. Alduin is an integral part of creation. When it is time for the world to end, he WILL reappear, and he WILL devour the world so as to make the new one and user a new kalpa.
ok i can admit when i'm wrong but still i wanted to be emperor
Jose Gamez
Of course you didn't become Emperor, you don't have the Amulet of Kings! :3
I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but screw it. Someone needs to say it.
Ancient nords were the cool ones, the ones we see now are pansies by comparizon
That's true
It's mostly because the nords got pacified by the Empire..
Tho they always have the potential to come back to their roots. If it comes down to this, the nords are still all capable of learning the thu'um
Would be neat if Bethesda came out with a game set in Atmora just before the time they traveled to Skyrim.
Damn right it would be
I am really enjoying this series. Quality content folks, you have my subscription.
If the Greybeards showed me this video then I would actually know what it would mean to be Dragonborn.
Here's too all IRL Nords! Normans (like myself), Germans, Saxons, Danes, Norwegians, Swedes, and Frisians. We have had as much impact on world history as the Nords of Tamriel.
how about people that live in the Netherlands?
MegaNikos44 You guys are Frisians.
so Finns are not nords ? Yea right.
Oh, of course they are! I had forgotten them, my apologies.
I liked. That assures I am not a milkdrinker, no? ;-)
I love the intro! And i really like this series, it is much more fun to play Skyrim when you know about its story! Good job!
everything in skyrim is better underground, oh yeah, dwemer, falmer, ancient Nord bone walkers, and dragon priests, it being ironic that dragon priests worship things that live in the sky, yet worshiped underground, even though dragon priests can fly
not necessarily fly, but float
Krosis is above ground, and Krosis is of course the best and greatest and there is no better
Michael Malone well there is one dragon underground, smog or whatever he is called in Skyrim
The dragon in blackreach?
Michael Malone correct
looks like 41 people who watched this video play Sims.
can someone call Peter Jackson and tell him to make a damn 3 part trilogy about Skyrim!!
+an onymud yea i suppose youre right ... i just find it soo interesting and think it would be awesome to see in cinema like LOTR.
That would take a while.
thank you so much for making these...this series truly is a work of art!
Are you gonna start to do Skyrim lore again since the remaster is announced
Lol, it's the graphics being remastered. Not the lore.
i love this
i expected more elf racism here.
great series! really well done. I particularly enjoy the "the tudors" inspired intro.
The entire plot of Skyrim seems a little lore-breaking, because as Dragonborn, most Nords would have bowed down and pledged allegiance to him/her. He/She would have had an army to take down the dragons and rule Skyrim.
man u make a good point very good point
Noel Santiago Mattei
I'm not saying that nords should, just that most would, one because of their devotion to the Dragonborns(?), and the fact that there are fucking dragons trying to kill everyone.
BlarghMeow Yeah, if it were realistic, i'm sure the Stormcloaks, Imperials, hell, even races from other parts of Tamriel would join the fight against the world eater Alduin. The Dragons were out to destroy humanity, so it'd make sense.
hahah as a finn i find nords to be exactly like real life scandinavian and finnish people, i relate to them and their mythology a lot! nice vid B)
As a Norse/Scandinavian decedent through my family, I feel the same. I play a Nord ever since my first play through of a TES game.
+The Snarky Dwarf I always play as a nord too. (Im from Germany btw)
Niklas Freericks Nice! Norse Brother!
+Antti Ratinen
The Nords are mostly based off the western Germanics of Europe. Their religion is somewhat based off the Norse one tho.
The traditional Norse people are consisted of the modern day Scandinavian peninsula(Norway Sweden), Denmark, Finland, Iceland and the northern territories that later made up northern Germany.
The word Nord is Norse for North or Northern.
Praise Talos!!!!

I love this series, so much hard work spent to make these quality videos and it paid off.^^
Shoddy if the dragonborn is to be the leader of all the nords .. then after beating Alduin why didn't they make the dragonborn their leader?

1.gods
2.dragons
3.dragonborn (Nord)
4.orc
5.nords
Sorry bud but the whole nord superiority thing is greatly questionable because of how powerful and fast a high elf spell sword can become. Great proof exists since the high elves were only defeated because of a super weapon and how powerful they still are even after the Great War.
not all dragonborn are nord take the dragonborn dlc for example
and talos he is a imperial
Paul Martinez Talos is a Breton or a Nord I think
NO ONE GIVES A FUCK!
One big question. You said that the snow elves called themselves "falmer" yet in another video you said they were given the name once they turned into the blind monsters we know them as now.
Falmer are their real names Snow Elves are their nickname it's like saying a Bosmer is a Wood Elf
I thought Falmer stood for "the betrayed" that would be a strange name for an elven race yet to be betrayed.
I knew that part but it sounded like you said that falmer was their original name which seemed wrong.
Well it is their name you can tell because it ends with "Mer"
Also, Reman Cyrodill was Tamrielic. He was the one who stopped the Akaviri, who signed up after figuring out he was Dragonborn
Nords - the fantasy version of Germans. Or Nordics.
nords, the nirn version of vikings
simply
TheZeroSbr they are based on Viking cultures
Skyrim belongs to Snow Elves lol
Wait was miraak the first dragonborn or saint alessia?
Miraak.
^
...Which should subtly explain a great deal about how *Mankar Camoran* was able to wear it. He somehow *became* Dragonborn, despite not being born as one.
White Raven Soo that means mirak have really lot of years ? :D
Michal Malcho You mean how old he is? Oh so very old..."ancient" would be literally correct.
At this point, Miraak might be *undead* (as he was originally defeated and possibly killed by *_Vahlok the Jailor_*).
^
It was, of course, due to Hermaeus Mora as to why Miraak is still "alive" despite that past defeat.
White Raven Hm thanks for info .
The Thalmor are actual supremacists who want to completely erase everything else out of existence, so yeah, probably.
Eadmund Isen-Healf only because of what happened to them honestly im not a fan of the elves of elderscols but the dwemer and the thalmar have both had bad luck but they fought till the end that is what I can agree with
Eadmund Isen-Healf
Actually the snow elves struck first at the events of the "Night of Tears", then ysgramor gathered his 500 companions and kicked there ass.
You replied to the wrong person.
Eadmund Isen-Healf
Yeah i meant to reply to Jay Bee, sorry
nords are the best warriors amongst men. the orcs are hardier than any men.
"cough" Orc "cough"
timpyrules "Cough" Khajiit "cough"
Khajiit arent the best
timpyrules Well, it's my opinion, I respect yours, but I just like Khajiit for all the lore, and the fact they're cat-people.
Jay Neal but loving them for their lore and the fact that they are cat people ist an argument to call them the best fighter. Best thieves yeah but best warriros no
Am I the only one who has a strong disliking to Nords?
Yep
Nope
Miss this so much !!!
Stormcloack Propaganda.
Because Elder Scrolls Online sucks compared to Skyrim. Also Khajitt forever!
Khajiit for life! But I think that comparing a single player game to an mmo is slightly unfair because they set out to achieve different goals. But I would say that I liked playing skyrim more anyway :)
+Lukimarzi I like both, ESO and Skyrim.
Ok and now we just need 2 more, to fill in the gaps:
we have one guy who says ESO sucked,
1 guy, who likes Skyrim more than ESO, but didn't say, that ESO sucked
1 guy who likes both, Skyrim and ESO and now we need 2 more
1 who likes ESO more than Skyrim and
1 who hates Skyrim, but loves ESO.
C'mon i know that these 2 guys are out there somewhere...Ok will be hard, because Skyrim is hghly modable and ESO isn't and in Skyrim you can add mods, which let you do interesting things with Lydia and Aela and more followers added with mods like Sofia and skimpy armors and...and...
*AND TRAINWIZ MODS! CHOO CHOO MOTHAFUCKA!*
