    Disclaimer: Lore is subject to rumor found in the game universe.
    Tamriel is a land divided. Divided by race, divided by culture, and divided greed. Yet, there was once time in its history when this land fell under a single banner, was driven by a single purpose, and was ruled by a single leader. This is the story of one man and his legacy. A story that some say truly begins to reveal itself in the Province of Skyrim, with a young warrior who went by many names, but the Nords called Talos.

      It would be just like Dragon age Inquisition and I have to say it's an awesome idea because Tiber Septim is a true charismatic character. Also is not true that you cannot make any choices because during his war of conquest Talos' personal decisions are mostly unknown so you can create your own type of Empire and story. Like any leader you could lead an army, of course you can't face a stronger enemy without levelling up or increasing the power of your soldiers (like Mass Effect 3 if you don't take the necessary military strenght you can die and have a very bad ending). For example if you decide to defeat the Aldmeri Dominion without good warriors or recources you'll die. As a prequel it would be an amazing game.

      Rhiannon Kaye Then they should make a tv show like GoT, but with more heroism. this story has a great potential. Still I think that for "Tiber Septim's game" fans would appreciate because I reapet again he is a great character with a very very badass story. I know that something like this could broke the entire Elder Scrolls game-system but I would make an exeption fo Talos, come on we are talking about Tiber Septim the greatest badass hero of all time, better than Geralt, Shepard, and many others

    One of the reasons I love Tiber Septims story so much is not that his deeds to Tamriel were so great or that he became a legend but that he had so much faith in himself and in his abilities. When ever I doubt myself I just remember how far Talos would have gotten had he been faithless.

    Wait a fucking minute. Did he say that those of the Dragon Blood could wear the Amulet of Kings? Does that mean...Dragonborn, in theory, could wear the Amulet of Kings (If it actually existed) and be the Emperor of Tamriel? I'm pretty sure that all of the Septim bloodline were in fact of Dragon Blood. And considering that the Amulet of Kings was given by Akatosh, AKA the father of all Dragons, i think that it means that the Dragonborn from TES 5: Skyrim could've been the EMPEROR of Tamriel?

    Funny thing about ban on Talos is that the Empire is very much willing to look another direction and if forced to act, will just tell you not to do that. However, they only act in strength when Thalmor begin to notice, which is what happened in Markath. Empire was more than willing to let Talos worship to continue, but because certain idiot *cough*UlfricStormcloak*cough* decided to openly declare the place as a place to worship Talos and told Thalmor to suck it, thus making Thalmor declare that the Empire was breaching the treaty...

    Do you ever think that... Maybe... Talos is like an metaphor for the Player Characters? A hero of many names who makes their mark on the world guided by a prophecy, surviving unimaginable odds and becoming so legendary and gaining so many honors that he replaced Lorkhan as the patron god of Man and became the guardian saint and founder of The Cyrodilic Empire whose bloodline was cut (almost like Bethesda didn't want you to meet his descendants as to see his race) and his brother had to be granted the title of Dragonborn Emperor by Akatosh as to bind the world once more away from the prying eyes of the Daedra...
    I meant all of Talos' adventures sound sorta like a game and its' DLC with the building scale and strangeness of things in Tamriel... I mean it even has like stuff for Guild Quests sorta with the vagueness of events (like the death of Talos' king) being Tiber Septim could be the Nightblade who killed whatshisname or the assassin or just a coupe covered up by a fanciful story

  • @Lostrocker
    @Lostrocker 10 ปีที่แล้ว +78

    In the lore it NEVER says what race Talos/Tiber Septim actually is, he was born in high rock, grew up in Skyrim and the imperial legends say he is Atmoran. So he could be either Breton, Nord, Atmoran or a mix between them.
    Before Skyrim I always thought he was a Breton (Played all the TES games), but now all the Skyrim fanboys/kids insist he is a Nord without a shred of evidence.

The advertisement made alduin look so epic but he's so weak oy. At least Mai'q the Liar still existed with some trivia, so did sheogorath.
      But bethesda seriously advertised it too much for it's worth, it lost to the 1st halo in my opinion.
      Don't try to argue by saying "You think your an expert?" because i AM. I played all rpg's in the world starting from nintendo 64 and Famicom all the way to buying PS 4 only to play TESO. I finished dark souls 2 with champion path as deprived, unlocked all achievements for FF 13-2/Versus all in 12 years or so. MK's writings have been used for every game in the series so far...it's hardly "bullshit", so much as it that the stories of each game are derived (based on) from his continued work.
      (Edit): They were not originally used for Arena & Daggerfall, but since then, the Lore of both games has been slightly retconned to fit with MK's writings.

      That happened later, when zurin arctus used his life force to fuel the mantilla (which is the gem that powers the numidium [the giant god-robot]). Some speculate that zurin made a sacrifice for this, but others claim that Talos tricked him into fueling it.

    Uhhh no, at the battle of Sancre Tor, the Bretons sold out the Nords to Talos, and they were the ones who showed him the secret path, the Bretons betrayed the Nords, and Nords were impressed with Talos's skill so they joined him. If you read the book on this battle in Skyrim you can see that. And no the Imperials don't hate Talos at all, they are simply not allowed to openly worship him due to the white gold concordat Legate Rikke for instance still loves her God Talos.

    I remember reading this SAME story (though abridged here) in Morrowind back in 2005-6 (iirc?).... which told the life story of Tiber Septim.
    _ps: READ the books in Morrowind and Elder Scrolls in general.... AMAZING story. The Wolf Queen being another good one. DAMN Morrowin was such a good game_
    ANYWAY... it was THAT story that I read over a decade ago in a game that released back in the early 2000s that got me SO EXCITED for TES V when it finally got announced and that the main character we would be playing as would be THE Dragonborn. When I read that story in the Morrowind game itself... the EPICNESS could not be described. Namely because this was my FIRST TES game and reading such a detailed lore story IN A GAME was something else. And the writing was SO GOOD.... it was so good that... even though this Lore Series by Shoodycast does a great job.... it almost PALES in comphresion to the actual source material/story in the game. Not a shot at Shoodycast AT ALL... it just that the lore books in Morrowind were told SO GOOD.
    Glad to see this story told again in Lore Histories... even though I am a few years late to it. Or maybe I was a decade TOO early... hahaha

    Read the Arcturian heresy a book in Skyrim, that paints a much more realistic version of talks and it also explains how he became a god, and before someone says he didn't if he wasn't a god then why does it work when u pray at his shrines and in oblivion there's sommat about getting the blood of a divine and you get Tiber septims who is Talos, whilst some people say the arcturian heresy isn't true put it this way there has to be some truth in it and it makes a hell of a lot more sense than all the other legends of talks which paint him as some sort of well perfect figure, this book however explains how he got the name of talos (his birth name was Hjalti Early Beard) and also I just realised the grey beards call you Ysmir who was also Talos, holy shit you're a reincarnation of talos, please let elder scrolls 6 be about the dragon born conquering like cyrodil or sommat, also how cool would it be if every dragon born was a reincarnation of the same soul Ik mirak kinda messed that theory up but still it's cool, like u do have an imortal soul after all

    Something to consider about Talos:
    In Oblivion, a quest involving Talos's blood confirms that his blood is divine.
    The first Empress, Allesia, was given Dragon's Blood and the Amulet of Kings by Akatosh. The Amulet of Kings can only be used by the true Emperor or those of the Allesian Line. The Amulet worked with Talos.
    Talos/Tiber Septim was a Dragonborn when he began his conquest of Tamriel.
    The Dragonborn has the blood/souls of dragons.
    Dragons are the sons of Akatosh/Lesser Aedra. This makes Dragons divine.
    Ere go, Talos was an Aedra. Take that, Thalmor.

    • @videobeetle8
      @videobeetle8 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Et'Ada status is needed to be Aedra. Talos didn't sacrifice his immortality to make the realm, nor did he abstain, therefore he is neither. He's a creation of Akatosh, but that doesn't make him an aspect of Akatosh.

    This details the empires and nords view on tiber septim. I guess you could say it's is embellished
    Before he was a god, Talos was the brainchild of 3 individuals: a young (breto-)Nord named Hjalti, an Ancient Nord Zombie Ghost King named Wulfharth, and later on an Imperial Battlemage named Zurin Arctus.
    Hjalti was Dragonborn, and after being proclaimed as such by the Greybeards, attracted the attention of Wulfharth. Wulfharth saw in him a vessel he could use to once again gain sway in the world of mortals and take revenge on his hated merethic enemies, most notably the Dunmer. So he lent Hjalti his power, essentially acting as a guardian aura that amplified Hjalti's skills and thu'um to incredible levels extremely quickly.
    Southwestern Skyrim was plagued by war with the Cyrods at this time. A Colovian warlord named Cuhlecain was in the middle of a campaign to gainlands around the approximate regions of Falkreath and parts of the Reach. Wulfharth-powered-Hjalti joined up with this force and quickly gained fame and renown amongst the soldiers of both sides for his incredible prowess in battle and propensity for the thu'um. Wulfharth would manifest as a stormcloud of ash around him in combat, making him untouchable to his enemies, and he was given the name Talos, meaning "Stormcrown."
    Hjalti was soon given command of Cuhlecain's forces, and the legend of General Talos began to spread. This is the beginning of the concept that would later become a god. A man who others think is a man but is actually more than one man. Now with the benefits of fame and notoriety, Hjalti began to attract the attention of other powerful figures of the time. One of them was Cuhlecain's battlemage, Zurin Arctus. There isn't a whole lot formally written about the relationship between Hjalti, Arctus, and Wulfharth, but it's pretty safe to assume that before long Arctus was let in on the secret of the reality behind General Talos and how he could manage to be larger-than-life.
    Cuhlecain's forces won the war in Skyrim largely due to his invincible superhero general and eventually managed to take the Imperial City and consolidate all Cyrodiil under the banner of the man who would later come to be known as Emperor Zero. The campaign was over for now, but this was only the beginning of the legacy of Talos. Wulfharth had big plans for his protege, Hjalti was ready for anything the world could throw at him, and Arctus was eager to be in on the action, seeing a much more capable potential ruler than the current Emperor he served.
    Not long into his reign Cuhlecain was assassinated and General Talos was crowned Tiber Septim, Emperor of Cyrodiil. The official story after the fact is that Cuhlecain was assassinated by a Breton Nightblade as vengeance enacted by the High Rock aristocracy for their defeat in the battle for the Reach, and that General Talos' throat was cut while attempting to defend his emperor from the assassin. The apocryphical, and much cooler story, is that the assassination was an orchestrated power play by the three masterminds of the Talos legacy as a way to take control of the Ruby Throne.
    The part about the throat being cut serves a dual purpose. Not only does it serve to add credibility to the now-named Tiber Septim's innocence, but also to allow the first real instance of Talos being more than one man. Busy with consolidating and stabilizing his rule over Cyrodiil, Tiber sends Wulfharth to take charge of the campaign to conquer the rest of Skyrim, High Rock, and Hammerfell. Wulfharth masquerades under the guise of the Emperor, but keeps a low profile and does not speak to reveal himself, explained away by the throat-slitting story. Regardless, this still leads to situations where the Emperor appears to be in more than one place at the same time, which further adds to the legendary mystique of Talos and his superhuman abilities.
    Anyway, once the lands of men are conquered and under the Imperial Banner, it's time for Wulfharth to go after what his eye has been set on since the First Era, and the whole reason he lent his power to Hjalti and Arctus in the first place: Morrowind. Both Tiber and Arctus are hesitant to indulge him however, unsure of whether they can truly stand against the power of ALMSIVI. Wulfharth is persistent however, tempting the Emperor with promises both of Vvardenfel's rich ebony reserves and that the power of the Tribunal once they're vanquished can be repurposed to aid in the taking of Alinor, a seemingly insurmountable target Tiber had never even had a plan to defeat. The original plan was for Arctus to act as a diplomatic emissary towards the High Elven Dominion and simply form a treaty of nonaggression.
    But Wulfharth wanted the blood of elves, and Septim wanted the blood of Lorkhan, and so the invasion of Morrowind began. But it didn't end as the Underking wanted it to. After fighting to a standstill with their armies, Tiber and Vivec decide to settle matters personally. It's anyone's guess as to what crazy shit actually went down in their encounter, but it ended with an Armistice. Morrowind kept its sovereignty as a client state of the Empire, payed tribute to Cyrodiil in the form of access to the ebony mines, and the Tribunal lived on as rulers of their domain. This made Wulfharth furious. The whole reason he involved himself in this affair to begin with was to obliterate the elves, and now his minions have subverted his wishes and gone behind his back to ally with his ancient enemies. He withdraws all the power he had previously been using to aid Tiber and Talos is now just one man with a wise and powerful advisor, the dynamic duo of Septim and Arctus.
    But here a temporary third player enters the stage: Vivec, and he has a complete game-changer. See, Numidium's been sitting around in Morrowind this whole time and he hasn't had much use for it. So he offers it to his new ally as a show of good faith to use as he will. With the Brass God of the Dwemer on the table, suddenly Alinor doesn't seem so out of reach. Perhaps an Empire will finally rule all of Tamriel after all. The only thing left that they need is a way to power it, but the Heart of Lorkhan is off-limits. Arctus comes up with an alternative though. The soul of a Shezzarine should act as a viable substitute for the purpose they want to serve. And wouldn't you know it, he's got just the guy in mind. He designs a special soul gem dubbed the Mantella large enough to contain Wulfharth's soul. All that's left is to place the bait and set the trap. Tiber Septim calls Wulfharth to the Imperial City once again, claiming he's reconsidered and wishes to beg forgiveness and conquer the Dunmer in earnest.
    Wulfharth bites.
    When the trap is sprung and their intentions to soultrap him become clear, Wulfharth flies into a rage. Arctus succeeds in casting the spell, but Wulfharth blasts him into ash at the same time. They obliterate each other and their souls intermingle, Wulfharth going into the mantella and Arctus mixing with his ashen remains, what's left of him becoming the new Underking. The Emperor is the only one of the trio behind the Talos brainchild left standing, says "Well that worked out well for me," takes his prize and fits it into the Numidium.
    And this is where the power of the Divine first comes into play.
    When Tiber Septim powers up the Numidum with the Mantella, the souls inside it merge with the own part of himself he gives to it. The Numidium sees the history of Talos, this myth comprised of three individuals working together to create something greater than themselves, an illusion more powerful than any one man could ever hope to be. But the Numidium is not concerned with such trivial things as the limitations of reality. It takes all the things about Talos that had previously just been a story and realizes them, beaming them into the Emperor. Tiber Septim is no longer just himself. He sees the world in triple parallax, twice-dimensionalized upon his former point of view. Controlling his robot god, he conquers Alinor, the last obstacle, and gains absolute power. The Red King is now on the path to godhood. With no war left to wage, he can now focus on improving the lives of his new subjects. He achieves CHIM. He reshapes Cyrodiil. He rules the Empire in an unprecedented age of prosperity for another 40 years, living to be over a century.
    The imprint the Three-Headed Emperor leaves on the Mundus is not one of a mortal man. Numidium saw to that. It took three and merged them into one. It took the illusion of Talos and made it a reality. Talos now presides over the world as a force of sheer power in emulation of the other Divine spirits of myth, not limited by death.
    There was, however, one loose end that remained. Zurin Arctus was not fully contained or destroyed in the Mantella. His mortal energy and life force was, but his consciousness remained separate and did not merge with Tiber like Ysmir did. Instead, he was bound to the now vacant ash of Wulfharth as an undead scourge, and swore vengeance on the Empire. But that's a story that can be read elsewhere.

    The empire is stronger than the storm cloaks and have a much better chance to defeat the dominion. Storm cloaks don't believe in magic and that is their downfall. Everyone knows an army of warriors can easily fall to an army of wizards.

      But they have the Thu'um. Ulfric received training from the Greybeard in the way of the voice. He was supposed to become one of them but he ended up quitting to fight in the civil war.

    • @whiteraven1992
      @whiteraven1992 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      sancturillore Ulfric only knows 1 full Shout.
      None of the other Nords in the whole Stormcloak army know any Shouts (and it takes a very long time to master them, so they wouldn't have time for it)
      For that matter, the Greybeards don't teach the Thu'um to soldiers. Soldiers are people of war, in contrast to the pacifistic Way of the Voice the Greybeards practice.
      So yeah...the only real magic-user they really have on their side is Wuunferth the Unliving, and the Nords of the very city he lives in are suspicious of him.
      Not to mention that despite the fact that the College of Winterhold is in Stormcloak-held territory, it's neutral in the Civil War.
      (Edit): Not saying that the Thu'um isn't Magic...just having 1 non-Dragonborn user who knows only 1 Shout isn't nearly enough.

      sancturillore Ulfric also betrayed the way of the voice when he used his shout for PERSONAL gain in murdering Torygg. He uses the 30 year old issue of the ban Talos worship to inspire nationalism for his own gain. He does not deserve to be high king.

    • @sancturillore
      @sancturillore 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wesley Leytem How about you read my comment correctly before responding to it? I never said anything about me supporting Ulfric. Actually, I am also against Ulfric becoming High King. You should also read the comment I was responding to. Because if you did, you would understand that I was simply responding against the supposed supremacy of the Dominion in battle against the Nords because of magic.

    • @whiteraven1992
      @whiteraven1992 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sancturillore I don't think he said you were. He was just listing more details about Ulfric.
      Read a little more carefully, instead of following the immediate emotional response.
      (Edit): "Strength and Steel are well and good, but Magic is the true power in this world."
      ^ This is said by a Nord, even (Wuunferth the Unliving)

    I love this series and I do tend to learn a lot of things I didn't know beforehand. Well, now that the obligatory pleaseantries are taken care of, time to nit-pick. :p
    2:40 You said that the Reachmen are now known as the Forsworn. Although a lot of Reachmen are in fact part of the Forsworn, saying that every Reachman is would be a highly inaccurate statement. The Forsworn are a group of Daedra worshipping fanatics who regularly indulge in animal and human sacrifice while aggressively trying to kick everyone who isn't them out of the Reach so that they can rule it themselves. Reachmen are simply the mostly Breton people who are it's natives (although when it comes to the races of Tamriel, calling any race derived from elves and humans is in and of itself incorrect :p)

    It's also said that Talos was the one who killed the King of Falkreath so he could sit on the throne like the prophecy told. He then cut his own throat, maybe by guilt but then still lived, realizing he had to do bad to achive good. Some book said that anyway

  • @159tony

    I just had a bit of an idea about talos. He's technically a dragon in human form, has the soul and blood of a dragon, therefor the blood of a lesser Aedra... What if instead of ascending into godhood, he simply went into Atherious like Alduin did when he died? And the current dragonborn is the Reincarnation of Tiber Septim? Since the soul of a dragon is eternal and can come back from the beyond to nirn. Is that a possibility? anyone?

    • @159tony
      @159tony 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      leon00778 but what i'm wondering if there's a possibility that the dragonborn, the real dragonborn reincarnates on regular basis in different form. It really got me thinking since dragons can do that and the dragonborn IS a dragon in a human form.

    • @Lol8922

      So the Dragonborn is like the Avatar? Sweet.

    • @159tony
      @159tony 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thor Odinson No. More like the dragons or perhaps closer to daedra in this regard, whenever they die, they are never truly destroyed, his physical form is destroyed and his essence is drawn back to atherius for reconstitution. the daedra are similar in nature.

    • @Lol8922
      @Lol8922 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the Dragon Soul inhabits another mortal body right?

    • @159tony
      @159tony 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thor Odinson Not exactly. It is merely brought back to nirn from atherious. the body it inhabits was meant to be its body before it came into existence. everything such as this is predetermined by the 8 (or 9) divines. the dragonborn, like the graybeards said could actually be sent by the gods in time of need. so the dragonborn might be a champion of the gods meant to protect mundus on their behalf.

    I was thinking about the banning of the believe of talos in the empire by the aldmeri dominion. I came up with the following idea. What if the aldmeri dominion only decided to ban the believe in talos through the empire beecause they knew that the nords would never except that. The empire would be weaker when one of the provinces would rebel right? Maybe the aldmeri dominion would be preparing for another 'Great war'. High elfs have a lifespan that's about a thousand years, so they could wait until the Nords would rebel against the empire, while the empire was weakend the aldmeri dominion could invade Cyrodiil again. Food for thought, isnt this?
