when i first read about John Chau on yahoo news i didnt know anything about sentinelese island. i was shocked but at the same time amazed at what John Chau did, i went into his instagram and loved all his pictures of nature and could see that he was truly a carefree, loving and fearless. the story touched me in a personal way, possibly bc my sister passed away at 26 too in Africa trying to also help the people there. i prayed about him and his family, mainly that his body would be retrieved bc again i remember the worry when my family also faced this with my sister. that night i had a beautiful dream where i saw many people, including myself getting these beautiful swords and as an army we stood in the shore of the sentinelese island facing the island. i cant interpret the dream but it is enough to know that God is in all this, and all that are criticizing John have no idea what sacrifice he has done all for the love he had to share Gods Word. it is admirable!

John is of course the Jim Elliot of our days!
Concerning, breaking the law, what about obeying the Great Commission. When it comes to a choice, John chose to obey God, rather the Indian authorities.
What about the criticism of infecting the people? Many Indian anthropologists been there. Only a missionary is infectious? How come?
Dear brother John, I am truly jealous of you, if I had your boldness, your love for the lost, your passion for His call at such an young age. Above all you loved the Lord more than your life. Praise the Lord for your life!

"For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." 1 Corinthians 1:18

Brother Chau’s experience is an inspiration. If our Christian brothers and sisters hadn’t been willing to listen to Jesus’ call to “go into all nations and preach the gospel” (no matter the dangers that await them) we would have no history of martyrs.... as such, there are many!
The martyrs of Jesus are enjoying some of the most noblest crowns as we speak and have heard the glorious words, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master.” 🕊 😊 🙏 ♥️

@@JOHNch4.v.v.7to10 The key to understanding the gospel is to know why it’s good news. To do that, we must start with the bad news. The Old Testament Law was given to Israel during the time of Moses (Deuteronomy 5:1). The Law can be thought of as a measuring stick, and sin is anything that falls short of “perfect” according to that standard. The righteous requirement of the Law is so stringent that no human being could possibly follow it perfectly, in letter or in spirit. Despite our “goodness” or “badness” relative to each other, we are all in the same spiritual boat-we have sinned, and the punishment for sin is death, i.e. separation from God, the source of life (Romans 3:23). In order for us to go to heaven, God’s dwelling place and the realm of life and light, sin must be somehow removed or paid for. The Law established the fact that cleansing from sin can only happen through the bloody sacrifice of an innocent life (Hebrews 9:22).
The gospel involves Jesus’ death on the cross as the sin offering to fulfill the Law’s righteous requirement (Romans 8:3-4; Hebrews 10:5-10). Under the Law, animal sacrifices were offered year after year as a reminder of sin and a symbol of the coming sacrifice of Christ (Hebrews 10:3-4). When Christ offered Himself at Calvary, that symbol became a reality for all who would believe (Hebrews 10:11-18). The work of atonement is finished now, and that’s good news.
The gospel also involves Jesus’ resurrection on the third day. “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Romans 4:25). The fact that Jesus conquered sin and death (sin’s penalty) is good news, indeed. The fact that He offers to share that victory with us is the greatest news of all (John 14:19).
The elements of the gospel are clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 15:3-6, a key passage concerning the good news of God: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living.” Notice, first, that Paul “received” the gospel and then “passed it on”; this is a divine message, not a man-made invention. Second, the gospel is “of first importance.” Everywhere the apostles went, they preached the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Third, the message of the gospel is accompanied by proofs: Christ died for our sins (proved by His burial), and He rose again the third day (proved by the eyewitnesses). Fourth, all this was done “according to the Scriptures”; the theme of the whole Bible is the salvation of mankind through Christ. The Bible is the gospel.
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile” (Romans 1:16). The gospel is a bold message, and we are not ashamed of proclaiming it. It is a powerful message, because it is God’s good news. It is a saving message, the only thing that can truly reform the human heart. It is a universal message, for Jews and Gentiles both. And the gospel is received by faith; salvation is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9).
The gospel is the good news that God loves the world enough to give His only Son to die for our sin (John 3:16). The gospel is good news because our salvation and eternal life and home in heaven are guaranteed through Christ (John 14:1-4). “He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you” (1 Peter 1:3-4).
The gospel is good news when we understand that we do not (and cannot) earn our salvation; the work of redemption and justification is complete, having been finished on the cross (John 19:30). Jesus is the propitiation for our sins (1 John 2:2). The gospel is the good news that we, who were once enemies of God, have been reconciled by the blood of Christ and adopted into the family of God (Romans 5:10; John 1:12). “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1). The gospel is the good news that “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
To reject the gospel is to embrace the bad news. Condemnation before God is the result of a lack of faith in the Son of God, God’s only provision for salvation. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son” (John 3:17-18). God has given a doomed world good news: the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Christ is the King, and its his authority that sent that man. Do we hold on to man made laws or obey God? I only wish we had 20,000 of this type of christian! You knocked on my door and I shot you, would there be no justice for your death? The only thing that Christianity does for a rebellious person is reveal their true nature. You can not tell me that there things you have done in your life that you aren't proud about.
As for the god or gods they may worship, you speak so liberal as if gods are like sneakers. Tell me what you worship and I will tell you who you are. We all worship something; sports, movies, tv shows, fashion, collectibles, games etc. A god that does not answer back is no god at all.
let be frank, you are using a poor defense inorder to justify your own dislike towards Christians. Turning their home into hotels? I'm sure if you wanted to, you can look up 3rd world settlements that have received Christ as their lord and saviors and they are just as poor as they were before they made that choice., the only difference is that they maybe poor but they are rich in spirit. I will pray for you, Christ died for people like you and I, rebellious by nature.

The name of the book is, John G Paton. The autobiography of the Pioneer Missionary to the New Hebrides (Vanuatu) A very compelling read, like no other and I have read many books. I am currently reading Margaret Paton- Letters from the South Seas.
Thus fell JOHN WILLIAMS - ‘the Apostle of Polynesia’ - a man who had won the most splendid reputation perhaps of any missionary since the days of the great Apostle of the Gentiles … died a martyr on that ever memorable day, NOVEMBER TWENTIETH, 1839 … and now in glory shines as the stars for ever and ever (Gordon, ed. 1863: 101).
The death of John Williams and James Harris on the beach at Dillon’s Bay, Erromango, in 1839 (see Chapter 2) was a pivotal moment in the history of the New Hebrides (now Vanuatu). This event crystallised the reputation of indigenous Melanesians as hostile and inherently dangerous. The New Hebrides were characterised as a place of fear, black magic, and cannibalism (e.g. American Sunday School Union 1844; Copeland 1878). At the same time, this moment provided a rallying point for missionaries determined to ‘bring light to dark isles’ in the region. Thus began a century or so of mission labour in the New Hebrides, resulting in the widespread conversion of Melanesian people to Christianity (indigenous ni-Vanuatu identified as 86 per cent Christian in the most recent census; Vanuatu National Statistics Office 2009: 25).

It was this story that got me interested in learning about other missionaries that have gone to take the gospel to tribal people. I've always been Christian, but did not grow up in the church and hadn't heard of any of the well known stories of missionaries.
So with John Chau's story going viral, and people still talking about it years later, I believe it could very well lead many who are not Christian to look deeper into the work of past missionaries and into Christianity. Who knows how many may come to accept Christ and have salvation because of hearing about John Chau? Many who argue against him may yet come to Christ through him.
A lot of unbelievers would also be surprised to see hoe the lives of many people are greatly improved even from a secular perspective after an entire people group comes to Jesus. I'm thinking of tribes that still live day to day in much the same way they did before. But no longer kill their own people or those of other tribes like they did before.

My opinion on missionaries is that they go to these countries, islands wherever they go to conform people to their way of thinking/living and that is not right. You cant just go into anyone's house and start dictating Anything. If you believe in any religion you have been mislead and fear is at the root of it whether you acknowledge it or not.

@Tiffany WeaverFacts are important to me.
In AD 1947 the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in the area of Qumran in Israel. Various scrolls date anywhere from the 5th century BC to the 1st century AD. Historians believe that Jewish scribes maintained the site to preserve God’s Word and to protect the writings during the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. The Dead Sea Scrolls represent nearly every book of the Old Testament, and comparisons with more recent manuscripts show them to be virtually identical-the main deviations are the spellings of some individuals’ names and various numbers quoted in Scripture.
The Dead Sea Scrolls are a testimony to the accuracy and preservation of the Old Testament and give confidence that the Old Testament we have today is the same Old Testament used by Jesus. In fact, Luke records a statement made by Jesus regarding the assemblage of the Old Testament: “For this reason also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and some they will persecute, so that the blood of all the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you, it shall be charged against this generation’” (Luke 11:49-51, emphasis added). Jesus confirmed the 39 books of the Old Testament in these verses. Abel’s death is found in Genesis and Zechariah’s in 2 Chronicles-the first and last books of the Hebrew Bible.
Compilation of the Original New Testament
Quotations from the early church fathers allow the reconstruction of almost the entire New Testament as it is found today. For example, Clement (c. AD 95) quotes from eleven New Testament books, Ignatius (c. AD 107) quotes from nearly every New Testament book, and Polycarp (a disciple of John, c. AD 110) quotes from seventeen New Testament books. Using the early church fathers’ quotes, the entire New Testament can be pieced together, with the exception of 20-27 verses, most of them from 3 John. Such evidence witnesses to the fact that the New Testament was recognized far earlier than the Council of Carthage in AD 397 and that the New Testament we have today is the same as what was written 2,000 years ago.
Third, there is no literary rival in the ancient world to the number of manuscript copies and the early dating of the New Testament. There are 5,300 Greek, 10,000 Latin, and 9,000 miscellaneous copies of the New Testament extant today, and more continue to be unearthed via archaeology. The combination of early dating and the enormous number of New Testament copies causes historical experts such as Sir Frederic Kenyon (former director and principal librarian of the British Museum) to say, “The interval, then, between the dates of original composition and the earliest extant evidence becomes so small as to be in fact negligible, and the last foundation for any doubt that the Scriptures have come down to us substantially as they were written has now been removed. Both the authenticity and the general integrity of the books of the New Testament may be regarded as finally established.”

I still want to go as long as I can... I'm just not sure if I am good enough for the job. So far I have not been able to lead anyone to God. It's kind of troubling. Maybe if I was super successful? Mankind fell into sin unable to save itself. We have all sinned. God is the judge who will judge everyone. The wages of sin is the second death of hell. God so loved you He sent His son to die in your place. He died not just to save from hell but from blindness and the power of sin. Everyone must repent and believe the savior. Everyone must repent and believe. Repentance does not mean "fix yourself" or "be self righteous". It means surrender to the only savior Jesus Christ. He will change your heart and set you free from the penalty and power of sin. When your heart is changed you will have new desires to fight sin and love God.

John Paton. You need to read this unforgettable book. The first two missionaries to New Hebrides (men) were killed on the beach, cooked and eaten. John went to New Hebrides (Vanuatu) with his pregnant wife. A few months after arriving his wife gave birth and she and her infant son both died. John slept on top of their grave so the people would not dig up their bodies and eat them.
The people thought the greatest thing was to befriend someone and then eventually lure them to their deaths and eat them. As I recall, they actually thought Judas was the hero in the story of Jesus. They actually cheered for Judas. John Paton witnessed the beheading of a missionary and when the missionary's wife came out they beheaded her, too. John was spared.
I have read many, many, books. But this one I would come home from work and went right back to reading it.
Truly an amazing story. You cannot die until God says so.

God also did it with Vanuatu and John Paton. In the video the book about John Paton is being read.
Williams and Harris were clubbed to death, cooked and eaten before John Paton arrived.
A missionary couple were beheaded while he was there. (The Gordon's)
Eventually almost the entire island was converted.
This is only chapter one for the Sentinelese.
      They need our daily prayers.

@linda green Hey Linda, not sure what you researched and read. And no, I have not read Desmont Tutu and never will. He was one of the reasons I left the Protestant Church. He may himself Christian, but acts as an enemy. Of course, your hate and bitterness gainst Christians is obvious. But it seems that your hate has clouded your understanding. Not everyone acting in the name of Christ is a Christion. Those who follow Christ's teaching and ways are. But they are not the murderers, rapists and land grappers. If you call criminals Christians, just because they wear a jacket with "Christians" on it, your reasearch has been faulty. Why do you hate Christ?

Does everything else in the Bible apply to anything in the modern world these days? First of all, not everyone who says "Lord, Lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven, so not every Christian in "we Christians" is known by God. I read one of the twitter posts of a girl that was against what John Allan Chau did, she claims to have been a missionary as well and claims to have worked with orphans for God, and yet by the end of it she claims "We were doing it to tick off some list of how many we saved, but by the end of it we don't even remember any of their names." or "I did all of this just to feel good, warm inside" (Paraphrased) comparing this vain missionary work to what Chau is doing. She says this was all an attempt to "colonize" by a white male, similar to your comment.
This isn't a political matter ma'am, this is a life and death, soul and eternity kind of situation and a battle we're supposed to be facing. When Paul the apostle was imprisoned for over half his life for Christ, beaten and alone in his cell, he didn't try to colonize Rome, Galatia, Corinth or Phillipi, he didn't have the resources or the motivation to make nations act the way he did, he wanted these people to walk in the footsteps of Christ so they could live with him in the world to come.
If we're gonna look at every group that claimed to be Christians that went off to commit genocides instead of looking at the Bible and real examples of what a Christian is, then we're always going to be far from the truth and far from the main point.

Did missionaries come to bring the gospel to the Native Americans? Or did conquerors come to conquer and colonize a new land? New to themselves, not to those already living here.
I think we have a terrible history in the US, and in much of the world. And not only in western nations. But I don't think the original pilgrims came to the US as missionaries.
Are you familiar with any of the missionaries that have shared the gospel and have not colonized the people or brought a western culture to them?
I agree with you that colonialism and westernizing other cultures is wrong. Especially doing so in the name of Jesus. But I think these are the only stories a lot of people have ever heard about missionaries, so they think that's all there is. And it is not.

Our stories don't end when our earthly life ends. We might not know in our generation how John Chau's story ends.
When Jim Elliot and the four other men he was with were killed by the people they had gone to; many of the people did not agree with the killing. They later accepted Jim's wife and one of the other wives who lived among them for a time and shared the gospel with them.
The people came to accept the gospel, and chose to make some changes in their own lives because of this. they kept most of their traditional ways. But ended the killings of their women and children as they came to see each other as God sees us. And they've chosen to accept salvation in Christ and to pass these things down to their children.
We don't know what the Sentinelese think of John Chau today. We don't know what they say about him. He did make brief contact with some of the people on the beach the one day. They could easily have killed him that day, but they chose not to.

The whole point of John’s life is that there is something worse than death. So he was willing to risk his own life to rescue others from something far worse. And he could risk his own life because he knew his own risking and dying would work for him “an eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17).
We are not playing games. When I preach that risk is right, I know what I am doing. When I say, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him - especially in suffering,” I know what suffering may mean. When I say, “Fear not, you can only be killed” (Matthew 10:28), I take seriously the words of Jesus: “Some of you they will put to death. . . . But not a hair of your head will perish” (Luke 21:16, 18).

You did not choose ME, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the FATHER in MY name HE may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another.
      Matthew 28:18-20,
And JESUS came and spoke to them saying "All authority has been given to ME in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of the SON and of the HOLY SPIRIT, teaching them to observe all things that I have commended you; and lo, I AM with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen
      1 Peter 4:11,
If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of GOD. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which GOD supplies, that in all things GOD may be glorified through JESUS CHRIST, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever, Amen.
      1 Peter 4:16,
Yet if anone suffers as a christian (TRULY ), let him not be ashamed, but let him glority GOD in this matter.
      - - - - -
      Revelation 22:18-21,
HE who testifies to these things says "Surely I AM coming quickly"
Amenm even so, come, LORD JESUS ! The grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST be with
      you all. Amen.

Fun fact: God created man long before man invented religion, think about that for a moment.

I hope that in 200 years humanity will have advanced to a point were we don't need religion. He had no business there he broke the law could have wiped out an entire civilization. A civilization that is older than your religion I believe that everyone should be free to believe what ever makes them happy. And if they had wanted to be Christian and could make that choice it be different. But his presence was dangerous to everyone he was selfish and arrogant. Even his father was not happy about what he did and blamed the group that talked him into it.

We don't need "religion ", we need a relationship with God/ Jesus! In 200 years, you won't need religion or have a relationship with God if you don't renew your mind today! John 3:16 & "Romans Road to Salvation"!!! As far as his Mr. Chau's father, JESUS said...Mark 3:33-35 🙏🏽🦁🙌🏽!!!

Only fools says there is no God , the last thing left in all the sign of the last days is for the gosble to reach the 4 corners of the earth. This is a warning to all believers .it's almost there, take heed , wake up , pray and quard yourself everyday with the word of God and the led of the Holy Spirit. For what the bible says , Jesus said some of you may die because of His name but not to worry because die in Christ is a gain. They may kill your body but not your soul. Plus however these people think or the world this is a fulfilling the prophecy that All prophets and our Saviour have told... if I were you I will repent and get ready ,Our Saviour is by the door now it's almost time for His children to meet him. Glory to the Lamb that was slain because of our sin. HE ALREADY BOUGHT US WITH THE PRICE ,YES THAT PRICE IS HIS BLOOD. BOUGHT US FROM WHAT....BOUGHT US TO BE FREE FROM1).GOD'S WRATH .2)SATAN. 3)SIN 4)MAN AND THAT IS US AND OTHERS .
WE ARE NOT OF OUR OWN WE BELONG TO CHRIST SO AGAIN DIE IS GAIN. THE GOSPEL WILL SOON REACH THERE EVEN IF THEY DONT EXCEPT IT BUT THE PROPHECY OF THE BIBLE FULFILLED. IF YOU DONT BELIEVE AND REJECT Jesus as your Saviour you know very well where you goin to be in the last days so my dear ...Jesus is real , and He loves you so much. You still have a chance to turn to Him . No matter how bad, and heavy our sin is ,He will wash it and forgive us but not only that Jesus will never remembered our sins anymore . God bless you dear.
