    One thing I'd recommend is buying a cheap scan tool so you can get past the engine reset. Brought one to my dealership.
    It's sad to see an FJ treated like that. I still have mine, the very first car I've ever owned and my daily.
    Paid 3k to remove rust and repaint bottom so it lasts me longer, and replaced some parts that were rusted.
    I spend a good amount of time keeping it clean, and caring for it so it doesn't let me and my girlfriend down unexpectedly.
    So far it's been wonderful- No engine problems in any way. Most shop work has been to prevent future issues.
    I plan on keeping mine until it goes completely, but if I decide to sell it, I'm going to absolutely make sure it's ready for another 10-15 years without me.
    And definitely not like this one. Great video here man, thank you.

      I bought a used 2007 but it turned out very well. Just check it out well. All depends on how someone took care of it.

    The fan shroud is missing, the engine splash guards are missing, and many clips missing. The driver's side wiper looks too small. Jack storage panel missing. Yes it looks like it has been in accident and not repaired correctly. That rust is concerning as is that engine sound. The VSC light does comes on in 4 wheel drive.

    I am looking at a 2008 FJ with 400000 km. I am a bit debating about the km although the car is in pretty good conditions. Should I buy it with so many km?

    • @ShowCareMtlQc
      @ShowCareMtlQc  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. If the cars is super clean and is still driving like new. Many dealers would lower the mileage and sell it to you anyway. Think about it , 30000km a year for 15 years that’s 450000km so it’s completely normal for a 15 year old car to have that kind Milage.

  • @jackempson3044
    @jackempson3044 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That only has 100,300 mi? Wow, that's low and the car is almost trashed. Someone's either a total slob or the mileage was changed. I didn't think you could change them anymore.

    My friend im looking at a 2008 cruiser for 12,990 and 183, 003 miles is it too much and not worth the price?

      Look at the bottom for rust versus frame rot. Look at examples. Bring a rubber hammer and hit around. If you make holes, walk away. Bring a scan tool and watch the engine. For 180k miles? You should try to get it for 10k flat.

      Also check the inside front fender walls to make sure the aren't buckled. The back door hinges can be spltting the wall of the door frame. Those things are caused by hard off- road trail riding. Check the frame rust well. Check the lines. I learned all that after I bought one but luckily it was a good one. i could have been ripped off easlity.

      I was going to buy a beautiful 14' FJ. I mean it looked like it came off the showroom floor. Upon putting it up on lift, the frame has lots of rust. A bunch of rust around backside of wheels. I am sad...I had to walk away.

    They sure aren't cheap to work on. Get a good one that's been taken care of.

  • @jackempson3044
    @jackempson3044 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That FJ is a peice of crap. It was abused and not taken care of. Mine's a 2007 and looks like new because it's been taken care of. Doesn't sound like the one above. The engine noise could be many things. You'd certainly want to pin point that.
