Need to replace differential breathers, sorry if was already mentioned. My rear breather was rusted solid... this causes pressure to build inside during operation and you can blow out the gaskets on the axle. Front ones are on a tube and is higher up .. they were fine. I also changed the transfer case fluid to Ravenol, which meets Toyota spec and is a synthetic fluid... I found that it shifts a lot smoother after the change and it reduced the lever shaking by about 80%. Keep an eye on the steel tube for Transmission fluid cooler that is under the radiator; it is prone to rust, I had to replace mine due to a pin hole puncture from rust. ** Rust spray is a must evry year. Replace all idler pulleys (they're toast after 80k miles) and belt. Sandblast and paint any under carriage rust as it appears.. I use a paint called Steel-it. These trucks are worth the extra care. Have fun!

This is a great video. I was looking for something like this before I performed all of this. Very informative and accurate information. I recently flushed and change my transmission oil and filter. The rear of my FJ would shake when changing gears. Took it to Toyota stealership they couldn’t find the issue. After I performed the transmission oil change the problem disappeared.

Okay, I'm in 1:56. He has selected the wrong oil grade for one of the best Toyota's ever manufactured but isn't going the extra mile and buying the fluids and oil filter from a Toyota parts counter. Expensive, yes, worth it, yes. I believe you'll find that it's generally recommended to check the automatic transmission fluid level but don't change or flush the fluid, just top it off if needed. Since I'm not going deeper in than the point I stated I do not know what was said but do replace the rear and transaxle fluids and of course the air cleaner and cabin filter and top off the brake and power steering fluid if needed. I'm not knit picking when I say to stick with OEM products. Toyota engineers their vehicles as an integrated unit and it's best to keep it as original a possible. When you buy an FJ you are paying top dollar, so why risk it.

It is the right grade oil for 2007. After 2010 with the engine change they changed the grade to 0-20w.
