Hi all! I made a couple mistakes in my audio commentary and I'd like to clarify them: When entering the sewers for the FIRST TIME, Frankly is assigned as a follower. This is NOT dependent on your sequence. When I discuss the theoretical skip to enter Hooktail's Castle at the start of Chapter 1, the blue blocks are actually still loaded within the rocks, however the pipe hitbox is NOT. Showstopper is rewarded for collecting the Chapter 6 Crystal Star, not the Chapter 7 Crystal Star. I rushed to get this out so I ended up making a few mistakes. Sorry!

At 1:44:23 why did you attack one of the full health Grodus X's instead of one of the ones you superguarded? Does it take too long for Yoshi to flutter to the ones in the back to be worth saving the extra bounce? And if that's the case, why not just superguard the ones in front instead?
@@BillehBobJoe Yeah, they have 3. But if he attacked one that he had superguarded, it would have only had 2 and he would have been able to do two bounces with Yoshi instead of 3. Unless I'm misunderstanding how the attack works.
I *think* that Yoshi will do 3 hops minimum, even if the enemy has less than 3 HP, so he just picks the first one because it's fastest. But I'm not 100% certain.

Then is zess.T a zess.T clone?
Luke TheDuke127 zess T? Never heard of her.
@@Double4011 all of zess T's recipes just make zess T too
Calamari And funnily enough, not so Zesty!
so 50 minutes in im like "ok seems normal" and then awaaaay it goes
This is fantastic. I love your TAS runs and your commentary is amazing in explaining how exactly this run is optimized. This is such an achievement and looking forward to any more TASs you decide to do.
Wait, you can put the Shadow Queen to sleep?!
It probably has some crazy low rng change to happen, but *can* happen through brute forcing the rng. It's probably orders of magnitude less hard than other examples, so it's likely not even notable. Or maybe it's one of those very first things done in las speed running and thus is glossed over as "business as usual".
No, you can just put her to sleep, period. My girlfriend won that way, it felt like cheating to me 😂
according to Super Mario Wiki, it's got a 30% success rate
@@ruoya6556 Should have 0% haha
The adventures of Frankly
Frankly + Punio = Flavio
Even when it goes to names!
hes there even with peach
I was planning on doing that but I really did not want to write an entire story about him, just because of time not the characters
I love this in depth commentary in a non live format with the speedrun. Keep it up!! Awesome :)
Bowser is the ultimate speedrunner. He spends the entire game miles behind you and yet somehow manages to skip multiple chapters and will always be at Grodus's chamber exactly as you are. You can be as fast as you want, but Bowser will ALWAYS have strategies on par with your own.
Having never played this game I absolutely loved the commentary. Incredible work! Thank you for sharing
24:20 Looks like he's about to BLJ into infinity
yeah, into a hidden universe.
@@TheUltimateRare Perhaps. What if Mario entered a universe...where Luigi didn't exist?
@@nicholasdaisyawesomeness1291 so basically yoshi didn't save mario because that would mean mario never found out he has a brother?
@@TheUltimateRare Well, it's complicated. Maybe Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a totally different game in a dimension parallel to ours
I genuinely lit up when you mentioned the alternate route to the Shadow Queen. I'd never considered anything other than the intended way so it was such an unexpected surprise
I'm already so hyped for the next tas. And I REALLY appreciate this one, I can't even imagine how much effort and time these take. Thank you for all you do : )
It's really helpful that you have subtitles for the whole video! Thank you for putting in the effort to include them!
Wow there are actually subtitles for the whole video. Huge thank you to whoever did them. Makes it easier for us non-native speakers to follow along.
"We'll save this mystery for a chapter 2 miniboss"
Me: blinks
"And now I use rng to manipulate the mystery box"
Awesome run! It's always interesting watching someone tear through what took me a few weekends as a kid to beat.
I love that you're still working on TTYD, I love your audio commentary on the game! I hope you know you're appreciated
I like how Glitzville is called Oolongtown in the Japanese version. Oolong is a kind of tea
Oolong is also a character in Dragon Ball. Good to know Toriyama's tradition of food based names is was strong right from the start.
@@DarkenedAuras7653 The blue flying cat thing is also named after a kind of tea.
Goddamn Malleo you are a beast for making this TAS and providing commentary AND english captions as well. Great stuff as always. Also Professor Frankly and Punio are apparently the best ninjas in the mario universe
Normally don't watch TAS' but the commentary made it so much more interesting to watch!
Oh man I could feel the intensity of trying to explain fence skip that quickly.
Im just gonna say one thing... you sir, are INSANE! and you just gained a sub. That was just crazy
Great video Malleo as usual! This inspired me to pick up a copy of TTYD to play through for nostalgia’s sake.
